    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

You might have been bashing the wrong person which is pretty bad. I could have ignored you but I'm a fan of the truth. You don't get a refund for lying. Defemation of character is an expense in and of itself. You can't lie to get money, that's called a shakedown.
 
I'm not desperate for $175 and no Mike you didn't chase me down to try and set up a shipping date. This transaction took place in Jan. 2000 and the animal would not have baked on my front porch. Your first excuse was it was too cold. Then I was told you were out of and waiting for insulated shipping boxes. After that I lost contact with you.
 
Im sorry, but if those were my $175 and 10 years would have past and i would have found the guy that "ripped me off" i wouldnt even bother..i would just tell him off and move on with my life instead of fiddling around on BOI...I personally dont like posting on the BOI but this post i find kinda ridiculous...its a 10 year old debt of $175.. i think an email or PM would have been better suited for this case...

I'm logging off as well as I have better things to do with my time. Bottom line he accepted a payment and never shipped the snake or offered me any kind of refund. Ten years or not it doesn't change what happened!

This is crazy. I mean I realize that you and this guy had a bad deal (and considering there is no actual proof for either side of the argument I cant say who's fault it truly was) but dude its been 10 years. A email or PM calling him a POS for ripping you off would have sufficed. Coming to the BOI with something you have no way of proving or disproving that is 10 years old just seems a huge waist of time.
 
Mike can bite the bullet and man up and send the guy his $175. There is fault, I suppose, on both sides, but the burden rests with Mike since he is the seller, and since Charles has had the same contact info for years. Mike could have contacted Charles pretty much at any time, Charles could not contact Mike.

Mike can tell Charles to piss off. I have not seen any defamtion of character on Charles's part, but maybe it goes further than the BOI and Charles has badmouthed Mike and we don't know it. So, Mike, you have his money and I am assuming sold the snake. If you did sell the snake, and got paid for it twice, you stole money from Charles.

Give the guy a credit or send him his cash back. I don't want to hear about money you are out for feeding and heating a snake you should have been all over Charles to get shipped out.
 
I'm not sure if he kept the ball python or sold it to someone else. That question hasn't been answered yet. All I know is when I talked to the police they told me that Mike said he still had the snake and they told him he should contact me to avoid further action on my part. As I stated my home-phone info has been the same since 1996 so he could have cotacted me if he desired.
 
You have removed any chance of this being resolved well. This is my last response to you. You have soiled my name, and refused to admit what really happened. Now you expect payment. I would have helped you had you handled yourself properly. You have not. You have lied, and caused a big mess. When I used the example of "baking on the porch" it was an example of extreme temp. not neccessarly that it was hot, only that the animals can't be outside unattended. I possibly have lost hundreds or thousands of dollars due to your actions on the web, so it would seem that sending you money would be only a further loss to me. You can't undo what you have done. It would be nice to get an apology but I won't hold my breath. Not once have you come clean. If I was a bad guy, I would have ignored your post. For anyone who disagrees, I'm so glad you were there 10 years ago to see my wife's face when the cops came to me the day before my wedding because this idiot wouldn't accept his animal. Why would I hold his animal from him? It makes no sense. Think about it. This doesn't make me a POS, it makes me the victim of a bad situation, and I'm pretty sure, we've all had those. My hobby parter, my wife, can vouche for all of this information, we both remember it well. Good Bye I'm done with this.
 
Holy CRAP!! As already stated a few times, what a major waste of a "bad guy" thread! While I have no clue what happened between these 2, TEN YEARS ago, I WILL step-up to back Mike Masters as being a "Good Guy". In my dealings with him, he has been nothing less than great with his communication with me and has treated me extremely fairly. His animals are 100% and he's shown me that he's willing to back-up everything that he's promised. I can't say that about very many people!!

From my personal dealings with Mike, I just cannot believe any of this has much truth to it...besides the fact that Charles supposedly got a better deal on a spider 10 years ago than you would normally find today!

The fact remains that Charles sent Mike $175 for a snake that Mike never shipped. Mike can say over and over again that he tried, but guess what, you try until you find a date that you can ship and a date that the buyer can receive. You do not put a timeline on it and say well, I asked him 5 times if I can ship and that is all I am willing to do. I am sure there is some underlying resentment towards Charles, for reasons stated here and probably some that were not stated here, but that does not change the facts. Mike sold a snake he failed to deliver.

The argument that he has cost Mike hundreds or thousands of dollars in sales is just an excuse to keep the $175 that Charles paid for a snake.

Mike, I am sure you are pissed about your wedding, the cops, etc., but if you would have taken care of your business, Charles would not have sicked the cops on you. Why didn't you contact Charles? Where is the snake?

Well Mike, If I was as unreasonable as you claim in your so called multiple efforts to arrange a shipping date, why the :censored: didn't you send me a refund or even a partial refund?! I have an active paypal account and as stated my contact info has been the same since 1996!

You could have mailed me a check and said I've done everything possible to work with you but this just isn't working out! Even if it was a partial refund for caring for the snake it would have been better than nothing!

Well I have a wife at home too and she'll tell you I don't send people money for a product and then refuse shipment of that product! Mike you didn't do right by me 10 years ago so why should I expect any better treatment now! Stop crying about your reputation here, that's just an excuse. At some point you decided to keep the money and the ball python! It's not the customers responsibility to send the cops to your doorstep to get a response from you!
 
Also Mike don't expect me too apologize to you for bending me over 10 years ago! If anybody is due an apology here it's me! Any reputable seller would have bent over backwards to avoid this even getting to this point!
 
All I can say is "Wow".... Mike... Just stop this whole thing right now and refund this guy his money... don't make it look like two kids brawling in the street which is what it is looking to me like right now... He said this and he said that doesn't fly well with the BOI. You sold a snake to this guy.. he refused your proposed shipping dates... say.. OK then I will send the money back to you!! That's all you have to do now to clear your name and make this drop to the bottom... The longer you avoid it the more people will post on here that you don't seem to want to make things right and the longer it stays at the top!!

Do the Right Thing here Mike.. No Matter what hard feelings you have towards Charles... the ball is now in your court!! You have a good reputation as of now but why ruin it with $175 sale from 10 years ago!!

Well as stated I never refused shipment of the animal. And he could have sent a refund 10 years ago and never let it get to this point. I would have gladly accepted it! Now he's taking things to a personal level by calling me an idiot in his last post. Something I don't appreciate at all.
 
I'm not sure why everyone is jumping on the "Mike, refund the guys money!" bandwagon. He might have been the seller, but it isn't, nor has it ever been, a "the customer is always right" world.

I know that if I were selling a reptile and conditions weren't right, the guy kept refusing shipment, it wasn't guaranteed someone was going to be there, then I wouldn't ship. I don't care how much the person griped. They can either take acceptable shipping conditions or take their money back.

As others have said...and in a circumstance like this, I'll beat a dead horse...IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS! I'm not siding with either one of them. Both of them could be lying, but it's he said/she said....my third cousins ex girlfriends baby sitters nephews next door neighbor told me...

We'll never know the real truth...as most of us know, there's always a third side to every story...the truth.

I say get on with your lives. It's $17.50 a year...if this were a "Hey, he scammed me out of $5,000"...then I say hammer him, even 10 years later. But, alas...it's not.

It's a waste to post a "bad guy thread", with such shoddy evidence of said scam.

Mike, just because someone says you're a liar doesn't make it so. If it's true, shame on you. If it's not, don't get your panties in a bunch and get over it...you know if it's true or not.

Charles, next time don't wait 10 years. As Christine has said, the BOI has been active since like 2002.
 
Doesn't change the fact that he kept the ball python and my money. He could have sent that refund 10 years ago but chose not to do so.
