• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm casting a vote for 50/50 as well. It's not enough money for the amount to be important, and neither of you seem to me to have a strong enough case for 100%.

Go halves, get on with your lives, end the discussion.

How can you say the amount is not important?

The OP paid for a snake and never received it. He also never got his money back. I dont care how much it is or how long a time frame it has been... it is still theft.

If it was me, and I was either one of them, an amount like $175 wouldn't be keeping me up at night. That's why I say the amount isn't important.

It looks to me also that both of them could have done things better and nobody has much evidence, that's why I'm saying 50/50.

In that case.... send me $175 today and I promise to ship you a snake... then in 10 years come see me and I might offer you half that back since I didnt ship your snake as promised.

Sounds kinda silly doesnt it?

If I ordered a snake from you, I'd want to the correspondence by email and then keep some of those emails for proof just in case something turns sour, instead of having nothing but my own word to go on.

in this case... doesnt matter... the accused agreed that he got paid and never sent the snake.

Case is closed... refund the money. All of it!

Kevin met that as a hypothetical question trying to get a point across. But yes emails are the best way to go when conducting business due to the fact it is hard to prove what is said on the phone by either party.
Someone stated that interest should be paid so here is my question since I am not the best at figuring out percentage problems. If interest were to be paid would it be on the the going interest rate back in 2000 or how would that be calculated? :shrug01:

I know he meant it hypothetically, and I responded with what I think the problem with both stories to be.

It's all one dude's word against another's.

The seller says he's PM'd the OP to make an offer for this end. I say good for him, whatever deal they come to.

It's all one dude's word against another's.

Actually your wrong. The accused admitted to not shipping the snake that was paid for. See below

We did have several dates but they were cancelled by Charles Lamb not me. I can't ship and animal when nobody is going to recieve it that is cruelty. I chased him down, he refused to allow it to be shipped. I held the animal for a year! I won't leave animal out to bake on somebody's porch. It's his responsiblity to give the ship date and hold to it, as he is the one he needs to be there. I can't tell somebody when to stay home from work and accept an animal, he needs to tell me when he can accept the animal safely.

Therefore... the $175 needs to be refunded.

No problem... now you kinda see where Im coming from. He was in the wrong for not shipping or not refunding.

They both were in the wrong for not coming to a day that would work for both to ship.... but ultimately the accused stole the money since he neither shipped or refunded due to not being able to ship.

sorry that I don't have time to read thru all of this but just thought that I would point out that you can call your local police station and make file a charge for civil theft against him and they will contact his local authorities if you know where he is. But keep on the popo's every couple of days until you see something being done.

It's a little bit ridiculous to be asking for a relatively paltry amount of $175 after 10 years without any sort of contact. If someone wronged you that long ago, I would just let by gones be by gones, but I guess the OP has a decade old gripe that he just had to make public, so it is what it is.

For the record, $175 in 2000 is $224.55 in 2010, so put that in your pipe and discuss accordingly.

Mike, good for you for making an attempt to rectify this situation.

For the rest of the posts, its just as I said a few pages ago, this thread will continue to go on an on ann on an on an on, and no one will ever agree on the correct solution, so in a a few more days or so I will jump back on at page 152 and see if there was an outcome.

once again Mike, good for you.

OP, were you refunded the full amount, yet?

*What puzzles me is where did the OP get the idea that he was getting a Spider for 175.00?? Mike said/implied that he had not marketed the animal as a Spider.

I believe I'd admitted in a prior post that I was a novice back in 2000 just getting into the hobby and didn't know the difference between a high gold or a spider. That was my mistake but it doesn't mean I'm trying to scam Mike out of $175 here. It has clearly been established that a transaction occurred, be it 10 years ago and that the animal was never shipped, held for a year and more than likely sold again to someone else.

Which means he profited twice on the snake at my expense since a refund was never issued and my contact info, shipping address and phone hasn't changed since 1996.

To NatieB: If you like I'll PM you my shipping address and you can send me whatever insignificant amount you like of your hard earned money and 10 years later we'll just forget about the whole thing and let by gones be by gones!

What a ridiculous statement to make on your part! :NoNo:

No he has not refunded my money yet. He sent a PM and I'm sending him one back. I'll let all you good folks know how it turns out. Hopefully he steps up and does the right thing even if it's 10 years late so we can end this thread.

Thank you. I was not implying anything. I just wanted to know if there was something "special" about the markings that would lead someone to believe it was a Spider, because a "high gold" and Spider should look nothing alike even to the novice:shrug01:.

Hopefully, he refunds you. Paypal is quite fast. I would get an account www.paypal.com (if you don't already have one) having an account would help both of you to bypass the rest of the possible drama involved with checks and money orders (snail mail).

I sent him a PM and I hope he steps up to the plate and does the right thing so we can put this behind us. As stated we both made some mistakes here but I'm still puzzled to this day why anyone who does business on the net would sell anything, not ship the item, and not send a refund if the deal cannot be completed. Just a bad way to do business if you ask me. :shrug01:
