• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Jacklyne,

From the start it was obvious you had not even bothered to take a look at the forum rules. In the interest of the other members we (and by we I mean the moderators) were just asking you read them and stay on topic. After SEVERAL warnings you refused to follow the rules until your posts were deleted.

You, unfortunately, have contributed little because of your failure to follow the rules. This may be harsh, but I have had trouble reading each and every post you made made because of poor grammar and spelling and not just that but poor post structure.

I think we're just a little irritated and on edge about this whole situation. All I'm trying to say is the only reason you're getting "the cold shoulder" so to speak is because of your unwillingness to follow the rules.

Again, I'm not trying to be harsh, mean or anything of the sort but this wouldn't be a problem if you'd read.

/Rant.
/Hopes I don't get a warning. :shootfoot

Where is their so-called $2,000 buyer protection that they always tout?

Paypal get's their fees but screw anyone who tries to get a refund. Can't they at least refund the fees they got for this transaction to the buyer? It may not be much but at least it would be something.

The only ones who benefit from using Paypal are the theives and Paypal.

Paypal SUCKS.

I just got this email today regarding a complaint I made with them.
They have nothing but EXCUSES.

Dear Steve Jordanides,

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

PayPal understands your concern and desire to resolve the dispute in
question. However, once a Buyer Complaint claim has been canceled, it
is
considered resolved and cannot be reopened.

Should you have the need to file another claim in the future, we
suggest
that you do not cancel the claim until you have received the
merchandise
or a refund.

We encourage you to continue to work with the seller for a mutual
resolution. You may also wish to seek other avenues of resolution such
as an auction website if one was used to conduct this transaction. We
value your business and regret that you have had this experience. To
avoid similar experiences in the future, visit the PayPal Security

Thank you for your cooperation.

Well, it looks like PayPal made their decision in my favor, except, it looks like there are NO funds left in Mike's account to refund our money. Nowhere in PayPal's email to me does it say that they will find him and prosecute him. This is just sick!! I've seen numerous posts to switch from PayPal to Google. DO IT!

You know what makes me so sick about this? I probably helped him spend YOUR money when I took him shopping and helped him move into his new apartment. Boy's he's living high on the hog now, huh?

I am absolutely disgusted.

Marianna, I'm so sorry. I do hope you're still intending to file a police report.

And thank you for answering my earlier question. That would certainly explain it...I mean, besides that I just couldn't figure it out!

Well, I too thought I "knew" Mike. Not really well but as a computer friend. I stood up for him on occasion. I believed that this was a "man" that was in need. Need of friends, understanding, a shoulder. I was never in a position to help in a monetary manner so I guess I was saved that heartbreak. I am just so saddened to see the true person. I truly believed he was a good guy. I have read every word of this thread and am sick.
To Tere, in no way should you feel any blame. You too were being used and manipulated. Mike, is the only one that has bought our disgust.......I just hope he also pays for it in the most distressing manner.
Due to my current status I cannot revoke my vote on his "good guy" certification, if I could I would have after reading the first post of this thread.
I am proud of all of those that have stepped forward to help. I see heros.

Thats pretty much the same letter I got when I was ripped off. There is no money in the account so Paypal is done~ Closed the dispute~ suck it (not their words~ but pretty much what it says)

Your not getting that money back~ I'm sorry.
Try prosecuting Mike
Hate Paypal
And be glad the people here cared enough to take up a fund to help you through~ at least there will be something for Christmas~ even if it's not everything that was stolen from you. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Thank you, Ginger. I wish I could get past that feeling, but it just doesn't seem to want to go away. I keep thinking I should have asked where the money came from, but I didn't think it was my business, and I would have probably just gotten a lie in response, anyway...but, still. You know what they say about hindsight...

As for heros, I have never been more proud to be part of this community than I am now, from Dennis Hultman having the wherewithall to realize these people needed to be notified, to everyone who's pitched in to help these folks. I'm amazed, and so grateful.

I can understand you being pissed off. In your shoes, I might be going "hunting." However, I have learned to try not to displace my anger onto those that are trying to help (sometimes I actually succeed).

That said, use of words such as "little" site and cursing aren't very helpful in your situation.

Take a deep breath and start over. :yesnod:

Tere,

Don't feel bad about ANYTHING! You were trying to be nice to someone and they ripped you off. It's NOT your fault! You would have no way of knowing he was spending money that he stole. And as far as living high on the hog...4$4300 is only going to go so far! ;)

The police came by my office today to get the information to file a report. I wanted to wait until I had all the information from Ebay and PayPal. As far as I can tell, the "case closed" indication from PayPal means that I won't be hearing another d@#m thing from them. When you filed the police report in Tuscon, did they give you a case #? I would like to forward that information to my PD.

Have a good day!

Marianna

I talked to paypal and checked my account they still have my case open and told me they still are reviewing it. if he doesn have any funds why would they just not close the case?

They most certainly did, Marianna. That number is 0712070463. I believe Jacklyne also posted her police report number, and that would be another good one to forward along.

I'm so glad you understand, but I still just want to puke over the whole thing. It's just wrong on SOOOOO many levels.

Jacklyne-

Didn't they already give him his time to respond? I thought they had to decide the case, one way or the other, once there was or was not a response from him. Go figure.

Okay...I'll only make one more post in a row...promise.

Guys, I know that we are all expected to follow the rules here, and I have absolutely NO problem with that. I'm not making excuses for anyone, nor am I asking for special favors for anyone.

I would like to make one request, however. There are some folks CONTRIBUTING to this thread who are hurting from more things than just Mike stealing from them. Can we please refrain from attacking them on a personal level?

Thank you.

Board Of Inquiry RULES For any who couldn't locate them.

Jacklyne, We are a self policing community of reptile enthusiasts. Hence the warnings and such. Out of 50 or so Forums on this site, this is the only one with such requirements. No hard feelings meant at all. You took heed, it's all good IMO. But if you haven't already, you may want to go over the rules in the link above.

As for the PayPal thing. Sounds like they are going to pull the same crap on you as everyone else. If there aren't any funds in Mikes account, they are going to do their best to not have to dig into their own pocket.

Pretty lousy attitude to have though. I think I'll check out that Google check out and see how that works.

That makes two of us. As soon as my .02 payment goes through, I'm out of there after the way they've treated you guys...and that goes for Ebay, too.

Thank you for showing Jacklyne where the rules are. I know when I first posted here, there was a lot to learn, and I tried...but still, to this day, mess it up sometimes.
