Need opinions on a bad deal with Tim Bowles of Arboreals of the Rainforest!!!

You make some valid points but why would Tim send Jim a snake up front without payment when in my opinion the whole corallus world (being facecious) knows he can't stand Jim? That has to make you think a little doesn't it? Tim even told me not to sell anything to Jim because he was an a$$#@*#. Why all of the sudden would Tim send a $600.00 animal to this horrible guy without any kind of payment? I understand you are being a good friend but doesn't it honestly seem strange to you?

No, the original deal, if I am not mistaken, was for Jim to help Tim work on his basement.. and that was the reason for no money up front. The reason for Tim selling *SOME* of his collection was so he could finish his basement. Jim was willing to do some of the work... and in my book.. helping out with a project like that is more valuable then money up front. Heya Jim, did you ever help out with that?

Jim threatened to harm the snake.....yeah everyone read it, but in my opinion I feel he was at witts end with Tim hounding him and with the fear of Tims friend coming to Jims house to 'collect' the animal from Jim. In my opinion I think he was just trying to get the two guys to leave him alone.

A threat to harm a snake is a threat no matter what way you look at it. Anyone that threatens to harm a snake publically.. is even more disgusting then the worst "bad guys" on this list. There is no way to spin a good twish on threatning to hurt the snake.

Jim did tell Tim that his friend already picked up the animal but again in my opinion that was to get Tim off his back and to ease his family's fear of this guy coming to the house when Jim wasn't there! It would be evident very shortly that Tims friend didn't pick it up so no harm done. Jim was so concerned about this guy showing up he called me and asked what I thought he should do because his wife was scared.

Jim lied about the location of the snake. If Jim would have given the snake to Bobby.. as laid out.. then.. there would be no problem. Jim intentionally lied to Tim. No way to twist that around either.

Who knows on this one Scott but in my opinion there seems to be a lot coming out of the woodwork wouldn't you say?

To me.. I see you trying to put a spin on anything that comes up from a deal with Tim. I do that trick in selling.. try to build up an emotional repsonse from the other parties to get the desired response (in this case.. its that Tim is always wrong). You can twist things as much as you want.. but the facts are always there (isn't that your defense to Tim's emails about your situation?)

Does that above statement by Tim strike anybody as odd?? If Tim disliked Jim so much, why would he invite him on a week long fishing trip? Was he just being polite?

The only proof that Tim did not like Jim was Matt's post saying so.. and.. to think of it... Wouldn't Matt be alittle motivated to get more support. I was at the Arboreals Gathering at Tim's.. Jim was there.. and... Tim did not show one bit of unfriendly-ness to Jim.. and.. if Tim really did not like Jim.. why would he ask him back into his home to help him work on his basement... ah well.. who knows..... all I know.. is that I have never heard a Tim say one negative comment about Jim in the years that I have known him. But.. who am I, right?

Sounds good.. but.. to twist that is an intersting thing.. I recently had to involve an attorney is a dispute I had.. the first thing I did was call a friend.. I used an attorney that I was friends with.

Yes.. depending on the terms. If I were looking (which I am not.. just bought a yellow anaconda and some saltwater stuff.. so.. I am busted!)

I still think Tim is a good guy and worth doing business with. I would pay 1/2 up front.. the rest on condition of passing a blood test. I have seen Tim's collection first hand... and have spoken with him on care of emeralds for quite some time now.

Jim, do you like the looks of the snake? Is this a snake you would want to keep for future breeding? If it is.. I would offer this to Tim... send him a check for 1/2 of the total... since you are worried about its health... if the snake gets tested positive for the virus.. then work that problem out (refund of money.. or something else). If the snake passes the test... then simply send him the remaining balance. If you had no desire to keep the snake.. then.. you made so many bad decisions earlier.. that.. you threw that option right out the window. Returning the snake is no longer an option because of that.

This does many things.. most importantly.. after looking at your prior actions.. it shows a willingness to cooperate. 600 dollars is a good price for a snake of that quality and color.

But... that is just my opinion.

yes it is a biggie....he is using the health of the snake as a tool to get what he wants.

Go to a car lot, a jewlrey store.. basically any type of sales orientated industry (I sell home improvements). Before any mention of price.. a certain emotional excitiment must be reached. Do you have pictures of your snakes on your website (I think you have one)? If so.. you use this technique. Build up an emotional attachment via the picture to get your desired response ( in case you got lost here.. the sale is your desired response ) If you did not try to create an emotional response.. you website would only have prices listed.. nothing else. Its simply pyschology.

I am not twisting anything.. I am just looking at the facts here without any feelings towards you or Tim. Tim and I have spoken on 4 occasions in PM since this entire thread started.. 3 of them are concerning some custom enclosures that someone at the Arboreals Gathering had been making for Tim. Tim was using them and they were really nice.

Do you honestly believe that Tim would refund Jim's money if the snake tested positive? Isn't that what Matt has been trying to get him to do all this time?

600 dollars is a good price for a snake of that quality and color.

That may be true but $300 (half the money) is a lot to pay for a snake with paramixo.
Your idea would be a good compromise if we were talking about an honest person but we're talking about Tim Bowles, right?

Jim, I have never "slammed" you. I merely pointed out observations made from your actions. No personal attacks have been started by me.
