Bar None Reptiles said:It's because of sick people like that, that I trained my aussie to stay away from people and strangers, and not to take food from anyone but me, or one of few people who he is allowed to trust. While some days I wish I could have a happy, friendly, 'stable' dog, but when I read a story like that, it makes me glad that I trained him to be so cautious of people. A friend of mine had a rottie and someone slipped a sharp object in some food and fed it to him. The vet successfully removed it, but the damage was so bad that he died shortly after they finished surgery. There are some horrible people out there who would do anything to an innocent animal just to spite you. I used to work at an animal shelter and I have even more horrible stories that are far too sick that I would not dare post.
The thing I wonder is what is motivating certain people to do stuff like this.
I have my own theory.
People that are IRRESPONSIBLE dog and cat owners.
Every house around MY house has a dog or two. One of the peoples dogs gets up to my fence and snarls and yaps at me or my kids or my wife when we're out in our own back yard. I've thrown dirt in the fuckers face hoping the owner saw me DO it.
Maybe, since it's illegal and harder to get away with killing the OWNERS of dogs some have taken to killing the animal ITSELF.
I understand this. I don't condone it but I definitely understand it.
