Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Outbackreptiles.com

I, too, have considered buying from Outback before. Up until now, I've [mostly] only heard good things.

However, I just can't overlook this...nor can I come up with any good reason as to why these geckos were sent out. Yes, I've done really stupid things before--mistakes happen. But this is unacceptable. If you quarantined those new geckos in a completely separate area than the healthy ones, how is it they were mistakenly sent out? Do you frequently send out geckos in the quarantine room? Or do you not even quarantine at all? Were all of the geckos you sent to this person the ones you just received from this supposed "big breeder"?

And before any of you start blaming an anonymous employee for packing the geckos (it seems most shady people make this excuse at some time or another), if you have an employee that can't tell an emaciated, MBD-suffering gecko from a healthy one, then...well...I guess that just adds to the growing opinion that you don't truly care about these animals.

Yes, mistakes happen. However, there are far too many unanswered questions for me to believe this was an honest mistake. Besides, as several have already mentioned, if Outback purchases from people who treat their animals this way (ignoring that killing reptiles by putting them in the freezer is also inhumane), then I don't want to have anything to do with Outback.

So, what I have gathered from this whole thread is that Outback reptiles' whole business consists of buying (Or taking in) sick and ABUSED and NEGLECTED animals, "Fattening them up" (Because we all know that TREATING them is just out of the question right? They are JUST leopard geckos.. why treat whats only worth 15-20 bucks). And then selling them for profit. (Oh, but just sell to the people who you think you can keep quiet). Yea great job guys! You have officially named yourselves as a business who supports abuse and neglect in animals and who doesnt give a flying .... about leopard geckos (my personal favorite). That is what you are to me!

The fact that you are selling "Wholesale" leos in a bunch of ten in no specific morphs would have been fishy to me, but why in the world would you "accidentally" pack up three of your sickest leos. How in the world could you have missed that?? I just dont understand... Why were your so called rehab leos even anywhere NEAR your healthy leos? How could you have possibly made a mistake?

And nothing was ever posted as to who the original breeder or these poor animals was... I really want to know.

This whole situation is just ashame. All of you people who have had great transactions with these people, well that is just great. I am very happy with your healthy animals. But I agree with Tony, IMO you just got a good end of a flip.

Oh, another question. Is this was a mistake, why wasnt she shipped the three leos that she missed out on? Those were what she was suppose to get right? So in FIXING your mistake, shouldnt you have offered her the originals? (OR were there no originals to begin with). And aren't you (since the guy who works with you has expressed such an interest in helping the poor sick animals) worried about there health here on out and shouldnt you feel OBLIGATED to pay for these poor animals to see a veterinarian.
Its not Jasmine's fault (I dont care if she is the card holder or not, her aunt bought them for her) that she was given more of an expense than what she bargained for. I think she should be reimbursed.

These were actually animals that came in from a large gecko breeder... name will not be enclosed... That felt bad and did not want to add them to their freezer collection. Josh made a simple mistake going through the gecko tubs and packed some of these animals that were going to be free to good home animals, instead of animals for sale.
Josh took proper action talking to the purchaser to correct the error, while their neice felt the urge to carry on without knowing the issue had been resolved.
So these were never supposed to be for sale then?
You keep sick animals with all your available for sale animals? You must since the wrong ones were grabbed when packing an order.
No QT at all since these came in sick the night before and were shipped out the next day.
Just pathetic.
Outback may have had a good reputation at one time but the explanation for what happened and the condition of those geckos just ruined it.

What should happen, is the customer should be refunded in full, AND your company should be held responsible for any/all veterinary care for the animals that will most likely be required in the future.

Then what should happen, is that your company should find a wholesale dealer who doesn't pawn off their sick animals on you, so that this "mistake" doesn't happen again.

:iagree:

Just out of curiosity, why is BucksReptiles, with a listed location of New York, addressing the how's and why's of what happened in an Outback thread? Josh's role I understand, and since he is the one that shipped, I appreciate his input. Mike's involvement - well, I know he works for Outback, too. But who is Ryan, and what is his role??
If he, too, is here as a representative of Outback Reptiles (as it appears), WHY? Maybe it's just me, but why have 3 different people posting different aspects of what happened?

If you look at other Outback threads the same has happened. :shrug01:

Ryan recently moved down here from NY and I guess he hasn't changed his profile yet.

Josh is our sales representative, and the one who packs out orders.

I take care of the animals in our wholesale and breeding facilities.

Happy? ;)

Mike, your posting in this thread has done nothing but cast a dark shadow on your employer, the company that you work for and all the others at Outback.

You are a disgrace to Outback Reptiles maintaining those leos in such a poor condition. after all you just claimed credit to taking care of all the animals at Outback.

To prevent further damage to the company you work for, step away from the computer and rethink what it is you do.

Have a nice day.:)

It seems that Mike Schultz has changed his customer user title to "Flipper" and his signature to "BOI: What's this? A thread over 3 pages? BRING OUT THE PITCH FORKS!". Mike, so what - are you finding this funny? Are you really feeling like the people posting their disgust in what happened here are unjustified and just "out to get you" or something? Your flippant attitude and lack of remorse - excuse after excuse - continue to reflect poorly on you and the company you represent.

This is just sick to me.

Also, you mention that "Since the OP's problem has been resolved I don't see how this thread is heading anywhere constructive."
Has the problem been resolved? Has she been given a full refund plus the cost of veterinary care for these geckos? How are the geckos doing anyway, anyone know or bother to find out?
Whether or not Outback's bad transaction with Jazmin and her aunt has been made right, the bigger picture here is the type of business dealings your company does. I don't think that's been resolved.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought I read somewhere in this thread that Outback has a lady that works with rescues, and that some of the sickly animals that were shipped were animals she intended to work with - to rehab them.

If that is correct then Mike actually doesn't take care of all the animals.

But that's not really important considering he never really stated he worked with ALL the animals at Outback to begin with.

Clearly Mike stated that he takes care of the animals in wholesale and breeding. There could be other areas with animals that other employees attend to.

Its not very nice and nor was it even necessary to stretch the truth Ed.

Seriously? Read my last post. Its obvious at least one person is blatantly making false accusations without any real first hand knowledge.

Its understandable to be upset and disgusted and prone to that I mentioned, because we all have a love for animals, and obviously those animals were neglected.

But it should also be understandable that Mike is entitled to feel the same way - upset and disgusted that he is being continuously attacked for a mistake that has already been rectified with his customer.

How was this corrected?

Your right it was not very nice :(

There could be other animals as you speculated.

To clarify, Mike takes care of the animals in the wholesale and breeding facilities as he stated.

I was answering a question to clarify questions raised by a moderator. I explained who the three people were that he was asking about. I never said I cared for all the animals we have, and I never said I was the only one who took care of the animals.

I'm ashamed to admit that my wording warranted further clarification.

Let me just say - I am glad to find a forum with so many people that truly love animals and believe they need the best of care. I found Outback's ad on kingsnake because we wanted to buy 10 leopard geckos (babies) for my niece. She had some adults but wanted some different morphs to raise and possibly breed. I bought them for her. Outback was top of the line in customer service and responding. Unfortunately, when you buy online you take risks that you should be willing to accept. I took the risk. I do not believe Josh intentially sent sick geckos. For whatever reason - a mistake was made. My niece is very passionate and as myself and my entire family loves animals. She did post the pics of the babies and personally - I did not want her to do that. I was giving Outback a chance to get back with me. Now - Yes I bought them for $15 each wholesale. They offered to credit for the sick ones. I never expected anything more - didn't expect them to pay vet bills or refund whole order. We did get 7 very nice pretty babies. The other three are being cared for and will continue to be and never resold.

I don't think one mistake should ruin a business or a reputation. Unfortunately negative feedback is heard and remembered by thousands but for all the great transactions they may have made have been forgotten. I don't agree with the practice of taking in sick ones intentially from another breeder but again - now I have better knowledge on questions to ask before I buy. If anything we need to take what has happened and learn to ask more questions of breeders and hopefully companies selling lots of wholesale reptiles review who they are buying them from. I believe in everyone making a profit but not at an animals expense. Lets all work toward having and breeding healthy quality animals.

Also, thank you for everyone that showed concern.
