    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

owens, good moderator or not

This is kind of a trick or loaded question in itself because by mearly agreeing with you anyone stating "yes he is a bad MOD" may very well be guilty of "antagonism of a moderator" underneath the warning system.
A better question would be "Do you think so and so's treatment of me has been fair and equal?". that way people could look through all the facts of your warnings (which would take some time :hehe: ) and give an honest answer as to your situation. In this way no one would be taking a chance of recieving diciplinary action for stating whether or not he was a good or bad mod, but would be stating whether or not you have recieved fair treatment.

Lucillle I am disappointed once again that you wish to take away peoples personal freedoms even here to ask questions and seek truth out no matter where its hiding. You say this thread is inappropriate, why?? this is the "feedback" forum isnt it?? This is where members are to ask questions they need answered.

My opinion on the subject.
Do i think he is a good or bad mod?? I dont really know him well enough and have not talked to him enough to judge him. Would my opinion of him matter to Rich or anyone else eithway, probably not.
Is his treatment of you fair and equal?? Well lets look at this a little. Each of the offenses that he has warned you for you were actually guity of except for

In which i think you were only calling a spade a spade. Do i think that he has overlooked the exact same offenses others made that you were warned for.... absolutely yes!!. I can say this as i have been on threads and have seen DR. Owens there as well and leave without warning people of things i read there that you had recieved warning for. The question now is " Is it his perogative to decide who deserves and doesnt deserve warning for offenses:?" In such cases Rich has stated he backs his mods 100% in thier decisions and that "KNOWN" offenders will be under close scrutiny so you know that he is keeping a close eye on you.Maybe even closer then he shouls as certain people are watching your every move and are going to report anything you do to the mods in hopes of ousting you so that they may romp around here without fear of having you on thier tails, which a lot of the bad guys would be partying if such were to happen, we have already seen the ferret diasappear into the fog, they figure to send you there as well as they know there are fewer and fewer people on here with the gumption to go after the bad guys full bore no holds barred.
I for one am hoping not to see your name in the "banned from fauna" column as I think you are an asset to fauna and the reptile community, even though your ways and means may be a little harsh at times.

If this is all you ask, Wesley, you have it. And in fact, I will take care to watch for it in the future as well.
But if you think that having this little tangle has changed my opinion on the propriety of this thread, think again.

I believe that in this time, under these circumstances, starting this thread was not a good choice.
 
Just for general information, loosewheel, er lucille, is NOW, for the first time in all the time I've known her, using my given name, Wesley. There are TWO people in the world that I let call me that. She is NOT one of them and knows it.

Is THAT antagonism towards a member?

You know you are not welcome to use that name. Why are you doing it now?

THIS thread is about OPINIONS about owens and his moderating.

Please try to stay on topic. Surely as a psuedo-mod yourself, you understand the concept.
 
Personally I do not have a full opinion on any of the mods here, I have PM Dr Owens for advice and I he has been helpful. Has he been though on you Wes? Yes he has. I think in an instance as calling Lucille Loosewheel, I can understand why he would keep his eye on you. I am sure each mod here has a person they keep their eye on the most, are they doing their job fairly? Depends on what you are buying from them, fairness does not exist. They are human and have their own thoughts and feelings, if it drives them one way or another, well that is their own perogative.

My answer is Yes, he is doing his job.

I did not PM Dr Owens, I PM DThomas. Sorry for the mix up.

Mike, I addressed the loosewheel issue while you were posting. It's a bit of tit for tat that she is FULLY aware of.

The question is not whether or not he's doing his job, it's whether or not he's GOOD at doing his job.
 
Rich has been so kind as to allow us to express our opinions, as long as we express them in an appropriate manner. If we lived in a Dictatorship, where we got in trouble for expressing our dislike for our Dictator i would understand your feelings Lucille. But we dont, If we dont like the way our president is running our country, we find others who feel the same and discuss our dislikes, the same with anyone of authority, congressman, mayor's, etc... And possibly have them removed from office. Wes didnt start this thread saying "Owens is a blah blah blah blah *insert whatever negative remarks you'd like* He came here ASKING the opinions of everyone else. What do YOU think of Dr Owens as a moderator? I have no beef with him, he has done no wrong to me. But i do think Wes should be given his opportunity to ask for other's opinions and express his opinions freely. Without suppression of his feelings from other moderators for whatever there reasoning.

This world is not perfect, and neither is Fauna, but it does serve its purpose quite well and im happy being here, able to partake in discussions with everyone freely as long as i keep my negative remarks out of it.

My opinion, Wes is not banned from fauna yet... And until then he should be allowed to express his opinions and ask his questions just like the rest of us are allowed to do.

Wes, it is pretty obvious by now that you are just not going to get it. You just don't see the derogatory nature of parodying and mocking someone's name in the manner you are? (i.e. "loosewheel"). No one with even an ounce of common sense would interpret this otherwise. You are intentionally forcing the issue to get yourself banned, apparently. Keen on being a martyr, Wes? To what purpose? Because you want to leave here of your own free will, but somehow cannot?

Wes, it does pain me to do so, but you have given me no choice. You have fully indicated that you have no intention of making the changes necessary in many of us to make this site a better place. You are basically spitting in my face and telling me to go to hell. You are what you are and tough noogies.

Thanks for addressing the Loosewheel thing, now it is not as antagonising as it seemed. That is a good way to mistaken a post, without full knowledge of an inside thing between two people. I apologize if I was harsh. I always introduce myself as Michael and when I am comfortable with a person as a friend I use Mike. You are welcomed to use Mike.
 
I personaly feel that if one person would have stayed off of this thread and had not provoked WES into his comments he would still be here.All he did was ask a question of the members and instead of just answering the question this person had to make it a personal thing even when the question was not about this member. Could WES have held his tongue or his comments ?? probably. Was he baited into it, you bet.

How about we all sit back and think about this....

I don't know why some things hit me the way they do, but I just try to go with the flow. I just get the darnedest ideas sometimes when I am cleaning snake cages and thinking about the stuff that goes on here.

I have decided that I will use the **HELL** forum somewhat like it's name implies it should. Anyone who has been fined and suspended (and has not paid their fine) as well as any of those lost souls who have been banned will be granted access to the **HELL** forum and ONLY that forum on this site.

Yes perhaps some people will be perfectly happy spending all their time there. But I think it appropriate that those people who have fallen from grace on this site be placed in a pit such as the **HELL** forum has been intended to be. I guess if someone here wants to save that $10 fee to have access to that site, this will be a cheaper way of doing it. But bear in mind that once you get tired of it, it will then cost you $10 to get OUT of **HELL**.

I think we need to start a self help group. Faunaphiles Anoymous or something similar.

For the record, I think Dr. Owens is a good mod. You can't fault someone for -occasionally- taking things personally, mod or not, they are human after all.

I also think Wes is one of the kindest, most honest people I have ever met.

Who would have ever thought that a herp website would cause so much drama and strife? Certainly not Rich, I'm sure.

People who know Wes, know that he does not float like a leaf in a stream, he is not easily directed, not at all a weak person. The opposite is true.

Only someone who did not know him well would characterize him as one who would snap up bait.

But, it is human nature, I suppose, for people to blame, instead of gaining wisdom and insight from a process, they lash out at whatever is near by.

There is a lot of human nature here......

Perhaps so, but all I can judge someone by is how they act HERE on this site. Perhaps if Wes had acted more in that manner here, then this would not have had to take place. Wes placed me in the position of either having fish or cut bait, which he likely knew full well that he was doing that.

I honestly like Wes, but I cannot let that stand in the way of what I needed to do.
