    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Please Help!! Ups F-ed Up

Yay...I had just read the post where you were so excited about getting them and then the next post I read was this one. Needless to say I could feel all your anger all the way in GA. I was feeling the same though....it's hard to say whether the shipping will turn out. Every driver, city and company is different.

I thought that when a package was sent to an individual that the individual whose name is on the package had to sign for it???

I don't see how UPS can just walk up to anyone near your house and give them your package. Shouldn't they check the name of the person who signs for the pkg. If the person's name who signed for the pkg. isn't the same as the name the pkg. was sent to, why give the person the pkg.?

The note on the door worked. The cleaning lady had signed for the packages. So soon as the resident had come home she walked straight over with the packages - in the rain!! I am very happy to say they are both alive and apparently doing well. I just got them about 20 mins ago.

What the fudge!!! I was under the impression that Sig required meant a specific sig!?!? Well glad you have them home safe and sound :) Don't forget they owe you a shipping refund!

That's what I thought too. But despite all of the reptiles I've received through UPS over the years, they've NEVER had me sign anything. If I'm lucky, they'll actually ring the freakin' doorbell before throwing the package onto the porch. Fortunately the dog recognizes delivery vans, and let me know if one's out front.
Shanti, I'm glad that they arrived safely, despite being babysat by the cleaning lady for a few hours. It's good that there wasn't intentional misconduct on the driver's side, but that's still ridiculous that he didn't take them to the right house in the first place. Here I was gettin' all excited about a road trip...

Haha, thanks Paul. Yea, I'll be on the phone with UPS tomorrow morning about that refund. How f-ing ridiculous was this today? I'm so happy they are OK.

I was asking why I had to jinxed myself last night talking about having to worry about UPS and them getting here alive. All day today I just kept praying for them to get to me safely. It wore me out so much I crashed around 4, and took an hour nap. I didn't want to get out of bed when I woke up at 5.

I'm so glad you got them safely!!...I've had problems with EVERY shipping company...I know how you feel! As far as the signature thing...it is not to insure that a specific person gets the package...it is to insure that it arrives with someone there to get it...usually people won't sign for something that isn't sent to them, so it also helps with incorrect deliveries...usually...lol

I had the exact same thing happen to me years ago. I can empathize! I'm happy you finally received them. Persistence is the only way in these situations.

I'm glad you got them Shanti! Our UPS guy won't ring the doorbell, so we have to watch. I like the fed ex guy he rings it but i don't think he asks for signatures.

Man i wanted in on this road trip too! Jeremy and Paul could do the knockin' of heads and me...well, i could just look buff in the background ;) lol

Yippee!!!!! Glad you got them ok.

Wow, that is funny, a big guy like you saying "Yipee"...LOL

I am so glad that the geckos made it safely! Post pictures when you get a chance!

I think I have heard horror stories on every delivery company. I wish the reptile community could start their own:) WIshful thinkin' huh?

Recently I had a bug shipment get dleiverd to ALL About Pets in Red Lion PA that was mine. The woman signed for it, knew it wasn't hers, and sold them and refused tpo give me my bugs back. She made about $400 minimum wiht her prices and the amount of bugs I had in the shipment. The police are actually investigating it because she signed for it but now denies ever receiving the package, claimin the DHL guy kept them for himself.....I talked with him and he said yeah, I served chocolate covered crickets at my 4th of July party....he submittied his statement to the police saying he did indeed mistkaenly deliver my package to her and she signed fo rit. He went back to get it once he realized what happened and she told him she burned the boxes so he has no proof and that she did not have time to talk and walked away from him....

I doubt anything will happen....it just upsets me at DHL (Even though the driver was very nice and seemedupset at his mistake)...different address, different names, signature did not match my name....

Okay done venting...thinking about it I need to call the Detective to see what has happened so far. It is considered theft to sign for someone else's package then sell the contents...but considering it was bugs.....i doubt anything will happen....

Shannan,

If you don't get any satisfaction from the police or detective I highly recommend you take her to small claims court. i did that last month to a guy who took my money for a day gecko but did not come through with either it or the refund. I won, and I'm still in process of getting my money but I feel vindicated (the whole story will be on BOI if I don't get my money).

I thought about it but here its the thing.
Southern Cricket sent me a replacement within days (it was over the 4th so I did have to wait almost a week to get them due to the holiday and what not)
for free....so I am not out anything.....
I can't sue her for the cost of the shipment becaus i later got the shipment.....its not fair nor right ....

You would think she would be charged with something. BUt that is up to the police to charge her with theft, and it clearly was.
Until I told the detective how much she profitted from the critters, he wasn't taking it seriously....once he realized the nasty woman just made over 400 from stealing another person's DHL shipment he told me he would call the DA to see what could be done to her....
I mean come on, if this was a shipment of an expensive piece of jewelry and she signed for it,took it and sold it....and it wasn't hers.....
but since it is bugs....
And in court there isnt anything i can sue for....I am not out money. Out time, with the phone calls to everyone to track down my shipment then the numerous times I went to her store and she kept changing her story and lying to my face....and then talking with the police...but i was charged for a shipment and got it...a week late...but eventually got it....Southern Cricket would be the one to sue her....as they sent out two shipments but only got paid for one....so then DHL will remburse Southern as it was DHL's fault so DHL should go after her....but....

Ack, Shanti you poor thing! I just finished reading your post and I would have been LIVID! I remember when I had my boa shipped to me by DHL and they left the package out in the hot sun, upside-down instead of bringing it into the building and having someone sign for it. I was so angry! Luckily my lil' girl was fine, but the fact that they left a package that said 'FRAGILE' and 'EXTREMELY PERISHABLE' outside makes me wonder . . .

You see, this is partly why I say
DHL= Delivers Hours Late
FedEx= For Each Delivery Expect eXcuses
UPS= Uses Packages as Soccerballs
