In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Reptidoc Dr. Darryl G. Walker

I bought a pair of adults from Doc earlier this year. They are doing very well so far. All are eating well and look perfectly healthy. The entire transaction went well. While I don't agree with his shipping practices, they did arrive cold but safe.
Please keep in mind that I have not brought this to Doc's attention before posting this. However I feel it is important. Imho non insulated boxes should not be used for shipping anytime of the year. I seriously doubt the packaging used meets FedEx certification standards.
In light of the recent problems that people are having with hatchlings. While I haven't experienced any health problems and the stools appear to be fine with the two adults. I plan on getting PCR testing done on the two adults for my own peace of mind. When I have some spare funds available.

Susan, will these necropsies comprehensively include possible COD's besides cryptosporidium? For example atypical flora that has found its way into the gut, or possible deadly viruses? And possible neurological causes of death? I'm just asking because I do not know, and the formalin will likely have rendered any other possible pathogens dead or destroyed.

Merely the elimination of crypto as a factor, or more accurately worded....the statistical reduction in likelihood of its presence, will by no means bring a sound, solid, final, conclusive, 100% answer as to the syndrome and death that has been described as a commonality among all these (what, two dozen plus) young snakes.

I received the final results of the necropsies. The "light red" specimen was the amel (second of Bob's snakes to die) and the "dark red" specimen was the Sunkissed (3rd to die) (I figured it would be easier for the pathologist to identify each one easier that way). As I figured, the freezing caused a great deal of damage. I can't stress enough the importance of getting bodies necropsied, or at least properly preserved, ASAP. Due to these results, I would recommend a culture and sensitivity (esophageal/stomach wash) on any live, but sick snakes, to properly identify the bacterial infection and come up with a proper treatment.

Thank you Susan,
I want to thank everyone for all the kind words and wisdom during all of this.
And I want to thank Doc for stepping up like he did.

If we can get some refund with our lost snake? The test result came out.

The test results don't tell us too much. Just that there is some sort of infection, and that salmonella is potentially one of the culprits.

Is there any chance all you folks with issues get your snake's food from the same source?

No I breed my own feeders and every snake here is fed out of the colony of rodents I have.
I have had the rodents since I got the first snakes last year. No it is not the same original ones for they have been replaced by offspring as they got older.

because he put blame on us, more than 4 of us got same problem. I did warm the F/T before fed my snake, I did purchase from 3 breeder at same time but have no problem with them at all

my feeder rodents

All of my feeders come from Big Cheese Rodent Factory in Fort Worth Texas. I pick them up to save on the shipping and possible problems that could occur during shipping. All my snakes eat them and I have had no other problems.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Salmonella and E. coli present in snakes naturally?

I do have a sick hatchling still alive so he can be tested without being frozen first. So I am going to do that. Also none of this is explaining why 2 dozen plus hatchlings are all dead from pretty much the same symptoms (Which seems to be forgotten at times in this) From the reading I have done salmonella and ecoli are not present in all snakes and reptiles. It is in a percentage of them. And it can be passed from the female to her hatchlings. So when I get the results back on the other hatchling I will also post them here.

From what I been told by Infectious disease lab is, Salmonella is found in snakes in low levels and under stress they can build up to lethal numbers

I'm not trying to make light of this situation, but something else that seems to be forgotten is that there were hundreds of 2010 babies sold by Doc that have not gotten sick or died. 13 of those are in my possession and are doing very well. I don't know what the answer is, but hopefully when the results come back from the test on the sick snake, they'll be more conclusive. One thing that these first test results seem to prove is that Doc did not intentionally sell sick animals as he was accused of earlier in this thread. I'm sure he wants to get to the bottom of this too.
