In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Reptster.com experience with show sponsorship not good

Dennis, We only had enough bags printed for the two shows. We still gave out the ones he did not pay us for. So he did get advertising for free on half of them. We now offer spots on the totes to the vendors.

Kathy, I was blowen away by your post. He should have never gotten you involved. You have a heart the size of a giant and I like many think David knew that and took advantage of it!

gosh I miss spell check!!

Firefox had a built in spell checker that works with most internet based forums on the fly (including fauna). Helps me a lot ... red underlines on misspelt words as I type them LOL. And for words you know are spelt right, but FF thinks is wrong, you can add them to your dictionary so it won't make the same mistake later.

I can't tell you how much it bothers me that he would stoop so low as to call and cry to some one as the esteemed Kathy Love about what is going on and involve her as a middleman.

If he had so much time to state his case on the phone with her, why the heck couldn't he have spent that time on the phone with Kelly and try to work this thing out with the one person it matters to.

From the looks of it. He wants the free advertisement at shows across the country but doesn't want to pay for it.

I think Kathy Love is the essence of what the reptile community is, and I think David knows that also. Why else would he choose to call Kathy of all people. Because he knew if he got her on his side he could hopefully stop the landslide that may very well be happening right now to his company.

If David truly wants to right things with all the wrongs he's done. He will come here and address them. Not call someone who he KNOWS is big hearted and as well known in the reptile community as Kathy is.

I'm sorry but the fact that he has done this whole calling a 3rd party(at this point it doesn't matter who it was) and sobbed about what has happened just doesn't sit right with me and only makes me that much more convinces that I will NEVER order any snake from someone who chooses to use his service.

One other thing to consider with Reptster is your credit card information is not encrypted.

Spell check is still there, just in a different spot, just above the smilies as you're typing a reply.

It took David 5 days of this to say he thought it was for $250 instead of $750? If he said that FIVE days ago, or even 3 days ago, OK, but I have an extremely hard time believing him now. I think he finally figured out how badly he has hurt his business, and is desperate to salvage what small bit of creditability he can.

I'm thinking it has taken him 5 days to create some new fake emails to post as his "proof" to try and bring people over to his way of thinking

Is there anyway for a moderator (or someone else "in the know") to be able to verify that the emails are fake? I state it this way because I still say they do not exist, and anything he would provide would be fake.
I know that getting the actual headers are one way to prove them, but can those be faked?

Hi Kelly!

Thanks for the "Heads up" email... Yes you can fake almost anything as far as I have been told.

Hey Webslave! Why is it that these threads always become a "mud slinging" contest. These type of threads should be limited to the 2 or 3 subjects of the thread not to all...... These threads should be for all of US to watch and see what happens. It seems to turn out to be "He who has the most friends
Wins"... Am I way out in left field here? Webmaster only please!!

Emails note

Hey I had another thought (sorry).... Just because I write an email and hit "SEND", that doesn't mean it was received. I get calls frequently from friends/family that say they sent an email and I never got it. An email is nothing unless a reply is written!!

Let me say to David , We here at Repticon have a very good business relationship. It takes a good communication to make a team work well! That being said....
I received a some what ticked off phone call from Mr. Young a few minutes ago.
He told me that I came off half cocked in my post about his dealing with Repticon, that I was not involved in the deal, that he was emailing Kathy about my post. I told him I posted with Billy's agreeing to it. Billy is a very very busy man and this was something I could take care of. I told Mr. Young that if he disagreed with what I posted to post his side and to Call Billy if he liked. He said some to the effect that he did not like the BOI...Wonder why?

Oh I forgot to add that he wanted to argue with me so i hung up on him. Not into that and I have better things to do.

If you want to ask Rich a question in private do it in a PM. You asked on a public forum and will be answered by the public. They don't "always" become mud slinging contest. In fact this one isn't by any definition. Accusations have been made and left unanswered by David. When this thread started he had the most friends, not Kelly.

This is a letter I wrote to Kathy Love after a long call last night. I realized I may have hit a few targets I was not aiming for. I did not mean to offend everybody, please read below.

Kathy,

I would like to apologize to you for my response on the BOI. It no way was it meant to offend or disappoint you. I have not read your post, Mike told me about it.

To explain my actions I will tell you I have no belief in the BOI. No matter what anyone says you can falsify emails with the greatest of ease in 2 minutes. And there is no embedded header information that cannot be altered. Anything is easy to manipulate in electronic transmissions. So to post anything into an open forum and prove it truthful is impossible in this case. The only truth about what really happened is between Kelly and me and no matter what “investigation” takes place the truth will only be known to the parties involved because she has one twist and I know another. Knowing what I know about technology fuels my ideas about the BOI.

That said, when this issue was first posted I was sticking to my beliefs and not replying. If I don’t believe in something I don’t take part. Greg called me and asked me to reply, I argued for a bit but I have a ton of respect for him and on my way out the door to an appointment and without thinking too much I wrote a very brief reply which contained no real statements and stated I will be back later. By the time I came back and checked again there were the usual few who love to bash already on there making assumptions and bashing. This is what the BOI is known for to most and though most of the respected individuals who feel this way won’t publicly admit it in fear of backlash. Once I saw that I reverted right back to my 100% lack of respect for the BOI and wrote some comical emails that would mock every bit of info in the BOI and show how much I care about it. One thing I didn’t realize was that the people who I do respect such as you would take the post as disrespect. When I heard about your post I realized such and called you to talk about the issue. I meant absolutely no harm with those emails they were directed at the very few people who hang around and jump on anything they can to make themselves feel better, and believe everything they read on the BOI. I don’t have a problem with Fauna just the core idea of the BOI is flawed. My sincerest apologies go out to you and the logical people who took offense to that post. It needed to be a targeted strike and instead I inadvertently used a nuke.

Now onto the issue of Kelly. When Kelly and I first talked it was on the phone and that is where most of our communication took place. There were a few emails that took place one of which I told her it was off. The reason I did not post it goes back to my knowledge of technology and bringing validity to something that has none. It is very easy to fake an email copy and pasted or live. In our first conversation we discussed sponsorship of the show and these are the facts that were laid out: It is a first time, startup show; it is on the same weekend as Tinley Park and exposure will not be great. We discussed the price she wanted, $250.00, I stated I would love to help as with anything good for the community and we agreed on that. A few days after that call she called up and stated she could really use $750.00, she stated it’s a new show, it’s costing more than what she thought, and she and her new husband have 5 kids and so on. I stated that I was sorry, that was way too much for a new show. I also stated I support the Repticons and that 200 caries me very far with them (brings us to Ellrod which I will get to later). She came back to $250.00 then I got an email requesting 750 again. I called again and had close to the same conversation and that ended up the same way. I believe the next communication I received via email on my blackberry was from her which I skimmed and realized based on our last call I needed to get the check out and responded as such. When I got home and read the entire email I realized she was asking for 750 again…. Here is the email I sent in response:

(once again I hate including this because it only validates this action)

Kelly,
I just got home and read your email, please disregard my last. We have spoken about this numerous times. Seven Hundred and fifty dollars is way too high for this show. I spent much less than that in San Diego and that show was huge. I am going to have to completely decline any sponsorship in your show at this point. Maybe next year when the show is more stable and pricing is more structured we can work something out.

Thanks,
David

At this point I considered this dead until that thread was started. I believe she also states that I am impossible to get a hold of. The customer service number at the top of the site is always answered unless we are on the other line. We field over 30 shipping questions a day. With that volume along with all the other general questions it is impossible to screen calls. It is not hard to get a hold of Reptster.

On our call this morning you also stated that someone named Ellrod from Repticon is stating something. I have never heard of her, when I deal with them I deal with Billy and Patty who I just spoke with last week about what shows we are doing in the future and nothing was brought up about this. I called Ms. Ellrod and she stated she knows nothing and that I have to talk to Billy. I have a message in and am waiting on that. But yes I did sponsor a few shows of theirs and have paid in full as far as I know.

I have not read the posts in the BOI but I can only imagine what will be said once you or I post this. For the record this is not damage control, this is an apology to those of you I meant no disrespect to. The only purpose of that post was to show how ridiculous believing anything you read on the BOI is unless you can establish transaction, and in this case you cannot. If anything we have had 10 people cancel and 30 mostly new members write emails saying that someone had to show what a joke the BOI is. It was only a point to prove validity not disrespect the community my team has worked hard to provide great services to.

Sincerely,
David Young

David, you didn't think a phone call was warranted also, since you were canceling sponsorship? I agree with you, I could have typed up that email in a few minutes. I am no expert but I do think it is much more difficult to fake the tracking history. Which would be next thing asked for when an email is disputed. How about sending the original to Dennis?

Thanks

No offense but if you weren't involved with the deal then wouldn't it be considered third party posting? If being "too busy" isn't an acceptable excuse for the accused then it isn't an acceptable excuse for the accuser. Just saying.... :shrug01:

Yes, full headers are MUCH more difficult to fake. They show the entire path including originating IP addy, server names, designation IP addy, the path taken between the two and other information as well. David acts like everyone has the knowledge and ability to easily fake full headers, that could not be further from the truth considering most people cant even trouble shoot the most basic of PC problems.

Hmmm .....

I did not mean to offend everybody, please read below.

Hmmmmm .......

It was only a point to prove validity not disrespect the community my team has worked hard to provide great services to.

Soooooo ..... You meant to offend somebody tho. Think you could work the BOI is a joke in there a few more times? Do you think the folks that brought a bad deal here and got restitution feels the BOI is a joke? Do you think the folks who work hard to provide great animals and services that get a pat on the back here think the BOI is a joke?

Its damage control , call it what it is.

Knowing what I know about technology fuels my ideas about the BOI.

We have a nice group of techno weanies here that likely know as much as you if not more. If there was ever a question about any proof provided , they have been quite helpful in bringing answers to light.

Is it just me or does David's post just not sit right for various reasons other than what I've quoted?

Thanks Sammy. I think it is pretty safe to say that that email is the key to this whole thread. IMO David should do everything possible to convince everyone that the email was sent when he says it was.
I googled Repster and this thread is number 3. Probably will become number 2 soon.

You have it right there Sammy! I couldn't fake an email header if my life depended on it and I'm a reasonably sane adult (well not on Mondays whose really sane on a Monday I ask you! LOL)

Reading all of this I just sit here and wonder something. What in the WORLD ever happened to picking up the phone and two adults discussing a business deal then backing it up with a simple signed contract spelling out the particulars. I mean we did do business prior to the 'net didn't we? Somehow we managed to muddle along without emails flying back and forth didn't we?

I like email, I use email but I do not ever depend on email. If I need to know something, I know how to dial a phone and discuss it with the other party. If it's something important like a financial agreement or payment for services or a breeding agreement, well it takes no time at all to type that up, both parties read it, agree to it and sign it. What in the world is so complicated about that? Had that been done here there would be no grey areas and this party said that and an email didn't arrive and so forth. A simple one page contract - you are paying X amount of dollars for X amount of service. Seems to me that would have avoided a lot of this mess.
