Reptster.com experience with show sponsorship not good

Not any more. His flip attitude, the fact that he felt there was a misunderstanding and rather than call the OP and iron it out, called a third person, and came to this site and insulted this forum......no, it is no longer about an email, it is about his poor customer service, his insulting attitude, his lack of creating goodwill in the industry, and more disturbingly now the risks that some have noticed but that he has not come to explain about the lack of encryption of credit card numbers, and the lack of a contractual privacy page.
And, now that some have talked about rates there are apparently cheaper alternatives in the form of discounts that shippefs can negotiate for themselves.

I dont know what the big deal is. Some people dont like the boi. Mr. Young only came on here because there is a thread about him. He is entitled to his opinion. If him and Kelly couldnt come to an agreement on the price to sponsor the show then thats a reason to not pay for it. I think everyone is making to much out if it.

Exactly, Kelly couldn't make up her mind on the price of the show and why would anybody want to do business with somebody who changes their price several times over...

That's no differen't than if I called and inquired about an animal for sale and one minute the person tells me the price is $1300... then $800 and then $1200 and back to $1300... To me that's just shady itself...and I don't blame David for changing his mind and not wanting to do the show anymore...

As for the bickering back and forth I think alot of people need to back away from the keyboard for a quick moment and think about why they are putting so much into this...

Reptster.com is a great site, it's very friendly and very Community Oriented. Those that speak so negative about it can do just that but the whole Reptster Team and myself work very hard to make the site the friendliest most warm and welcoming place on the net. To speak of Reptster as RIPster as others have mentioned is also pretty sad... Especially considering how fast we are growing... and the publicity from this thread has only increased membership.... So thanks everybody who has posted in this thread... You have only helped us grow! Today alone we got 20+ new members! This week we've gotten over 80+ Vs our average 50-60!

What you folks also need to realize... or maybe you already have?

Reptster is saving the community money, Providing a place where anybody can post and not have to worry about any pack of wild dogs attacking them if they disagree with what someone else says or how they keep their animals, and is also in the process of donating money each month to the communitie's choice of a Herp rescue or Organization... Sure you can get certified thru Fedex on your own but it's so simple and easy to use reptster and you save on average 30-40%!! Who wouldn't want to save more money?

As far as Bugs on the site go... It is a new site! There are some things David and the Developers are still working on but the shipping aspect has been the biggest priority.


I think the BOI is/can be a usefull tool in looking up buyers/sellers and I will agree that there have probably been some success story's from people using it... and there have definitely probably been some people that were saved because of being warned about potential scammers...


... but threads like this one and several others just cause others to turn away from using it... here we have over 530+ posts of immature bickering over one person that decided to change their mind from doing business with somebody who couldn't even make theirs up in the first place... Now all of the sudden the guy who respectfully changes their mind is a "bad guy" and everybody wants to trash talk him and the site...


Most of the people posting against David and Reptster have been the same people talking bad about the site and it's direction before they had even become a member or had even shipped thru Reptster.com... Basically speaking from no direct experience at all...Funny ...How the agenda's are so clear.

This will be my first and only post on this thread... I just felt as part of the Reptster.com Team & a member on Fauna I would share my $0.02

How convenient that you avoided explaining the risks of unencrypted credit cards, and what the lack of contractual privacy can mean to any information a customer provides for you.

And how shippers can get even better discounts by their own negotiation.

And how your pal David is insulting, lying and avoiding the resolution of problems by simply picking up the phone and calling Kelly, who is working so hard to make a wonderful show. Thank goodness this community has shown her that they can help in times of need, and she in turn has shown how she supports the good folks on Fauna. THAT is how solid business relations are developed.

If David had not been so silly about just responding truthfully in the first place, instead of dropping as low as he needed to insult fauna, and THOSE OF US WHO STOOD UP FOR HIM, SEEING HIS SIDE.... This post really WOULD be different!

I was Right there in the beginning! How easy one forgets.... and totally would have understood his side! and then he goes and slaps Me, Sammy and everyone else who voiced the same thing, or NEARLY, by telling us the BOI is a joke?!
And now we are supposed to be fine with things? because he came a few days too late, and posted? But yet could not even CALL kelly himself, but could call Kathy and state his side? and then yet... he cant even make an apology.... "hey i messed up, sorry about that, i really do mean it" he had to send an email speaking generally to KATHY alone?


I dont care who David thinks he is...the fact that he cant even MAN UP in front of the people who were willing to see his side of the story tells me that if he dosnt give a crap about the insult he tossed out there to those of us who were willing to look at it fairly.... then he dosnt care if i dont send my money his way for shipping.

Mark, about 20 years plus ago I did a trade with some guy. He lived in Washington State and I lived in Maine. I never got a thing from him and there was nothing I could do about it. You know, I wouldn't have given a rat's butt whether he like the BOI or not (if it had existed). His name would have been up here for all to see. The BOI is here for people to state their case and others to make up there own minds. You obviously don't have a problem dealing with people that don't follow through on their commitments. Well I do.

Exactly.... The BOI provides a service... whether you agree with it or not. Lets say you stiff someone.. and they post here. Maybe its an isolated incident.... then it happens again... and it gets posted here. Eventually a pattern will emerge... at this point it may become clear you dont really care bout your reputation or business name. This information helps individuals decide if they want to take a chance and deal with your... or NOT.

Let me say this..... the above was a hypothetical situation.... I AM NOT saying you would do this.

Unfortunately I just found out about the BOI... I knew bout fauna classifieds... but not the rest of the site (up until recently I havent even spent much time here).... but I wish I knew about this place before my last bug order... may have saved me some headaches.

Unfortunately my replacement bug order with a different supplier aint looking much better. If this one goes sour... I WILL be posting here to help the next person.

Do you feel you owe Kelly any money at all? Not even for the money she spent out of her own pocket on advertising materials for Reptster and the time she already put in, prior to your backing out?

That is the only question I have and the only one that I think really matters.

I know that this was asked to Kelly but seeing I am the other 1/2 of this business I feel that I have every right to reply to this as well. Her and I have not talked about this but I can say that this is something Mr. Young should be asking her. Mr. Young has been hiding enough, it is time, no it was time a long time ago to stand up and make things right.

Apparently you faild to read the first part of this thread. Kelly stated she had a TIERED sponsorship levels. If they agreed to the higher level because of Kelly working his table at the show.... then how could it go from the low level tier to the high level tier... and back again. Unless he couldnt make up his mind to whether he wanted her to run his table.

Let me say... I have never ran a show... But I can tell you this... there is no way Im running a show.. and also running a vendors table for $250. Not only am I into herps... Im also a photographer.. .and Ive done photography at events... Its a LOT of work... and I sure wouldnt do it for $250

Thats what you'll said about the supplies as well. You forget... .I USED to be a member and supporter of RIPster.... I have placed an order with ya'll in the past... then I got curious. Ya'll are only knocking 10 cents off the purchase price of the supplies compaired to what your supplier charges on THEIR site.

RIPster ....a great site ???? Maybe it is you that should take the step back. RIPster is nothing more than a myspace for reptiles. Like we really need another site like that.
I signed up several months ago ...I met David at a Repticon event, after about 20-30 minutes of listening to his car salesman tactics I finally agreed to check out the site. The line of BS he spewed about the members that posted their animals, were selling almost instantly. I must have caught them on a bad month ...I posted several animals in the classifieds over there, and all I got was spam. After getting the spam I emailed David to cancel out my membership there.... finally after several emails I had to call him and ask him to close it.... he said I should be patient and that there were only a few hundred members. Quite different from the story I heard from him when I saw him at the show.

He tried to get me on board with his shipping program too...but he was unable to beat the rates I currently receive from FedEx.
Once he realized he couldn't get me on board ...he moved on.

I posted in several threads over there as well..... those threads went w/o response for over a week.


So Of course you/RIPster is getting traffic now ...it's kind of like going the circus and getting in line to see the bearded lady ..... curiosity.
But once you see it .... well, you get the idea.

Why is it that some of us had to go to extremes just to get our account/membership cancelled, instead of doing it with an email request?

I was just trying to see if the two sides could come to some kind of an agreement. The question was posed to kelly because only she knows how much time and money she has done. Therefore she should put the price on her actions. I see some people hoping this can be resolved and I am in that boat.

I think most of us are, unfortunately I think we're going to need a bigger boat as I don't see this finding a resolution any time soon. BTW do you have a bucket, I think we are going to have to bail water here soon.

Mr. Belcher I understand where you are coming from, I am Kelly's husban and this is why I replied to this question. We appreciate your concern in helping us to resolve this situation, however we belive that this can only be resolved by contact from Mr. Young so that we can discuss this matter. We think that Mr. Young and only Mr. Young owes it to us as well as everyone on here to resolve this situation of ours and the other situations within this thread. As stated before if a resolution can be found we will let everyone know what it is. We are still and aways have been open to discussion with Mr. Young.

No offense was taking by you question, we where looking to see what your honest opinion and the reasoning behind it.

OK David could have handled his answers more diplomatically but he was honest. David and Kelly need to talk this out. I dont see a reason to try and ruin his business over it.
