Rick Sisco - Sisco Reptiles

Let me pee on this parade

Rick,
I have to give you good marks for eventually replacing the animal, all at your cost (finally), and for your time and thorough communications with this young girl.

However, if I read this correctly, you shipped into a very hot environment in a non-insulated box, where morning delivery was not guaranteed. For a moment, you expected the customer to pay return delivery back to you, but then relented providing she agreed to turn the carcass over to a college, and you then let the board know that she "did not do what she promised to do" by not taking the carcass to a place to be cut up.

Perhaps you just used manual labels to set up the delivery, but the ability to have known there was no guaranteed AM delivery rests totally on your shoulders. Consequently, it was a huge oversight on your part, and not on the customer's, to either not insulate the box, or not ship it as a "hold-for-pick-up". Many responsible vendors insulate every shipment regardless, cause you never know when something can go wrong. Sorry, but I almost puked when I read how you validated wanting the animal back, at the customer's expense, so that it could be donated for research, and that this cost was the customer's to bear in this instance of very poor shipping. Perhaps a nice thing for some local herp student, but not the customer's expense to satisfy. To then make the kid feel as though she has to get the carcass to a college on her end is ridiculous. To mention it to us, that she did not do it "as promised", is equally pathetic.

Bottom line, is that while you meant well in all things with the original deal, the death was 100% preventable by you. You screwed up, and to attempt to place any burden what-so-ever on the customer here was poor service on your part.

Bobby,

Your name was mentioned, not as a stab at you. It was merely to point out that the three breeders of chacoans have all dropped the 'term' chacoan because there is no way to prove where specific tegus were imported from. As I stated, I, just like you and Ron, dropped the "chacoan" term. I now use the same name Ron was using for his chacoans, it doesn't mean I don't believe that they are any more 'chacoan' now than they were before, but without having proof of the collection/import, I would rather be as honest as possible and not use the word "chacoan" and I commended you for doing the same.

Your claim is that yours are true chacoans, as such, can you please share copies of your import papers with us or stop making false claims. You purchased those four tegus from a reseller who claimed they came from Ron St Pierre. You claim they are the only true Chacoan, without being able to show proof, that is preposterous. You can't come on here and say mine are not chacoans and that yours are, without backing up your claim that yours are really chacoan.

This could of course go on and on and on, but the fact is the Chaco region of Argentina is full of T.merianae. They are not all the same size, color or markings. So, even if we both could prove our tegus are different, it doesn't mean they are not all from Chaco.

Rick Sisco

Chameleon Company,

As you notice, I asked her to ship it back. I did not require it. There is a difference.

That was my first and only tegu hatchling that died during shipping. I checked around and it was suggested to me to ship directly to UPS on the second one to avoid the heat of the truck, which is where most animals actually die during shipping. I did that, and I do ever since if the temps are not optimal.

Rick Sisco

Rick,

As you notice, I asked her to ship it back. I did not require it. There is a difference.

Rick, I think you miss the point. The customer saw your request initially as a requirement, and at her expense. From my reading, I took it the same way as well, and still do. It was discussed to the point of you suggesting how she could save on cost by sending it "two-day priority". She was clearly upset at absorbing the cost, as frankly it appears she both did not have it, and did not think she was liable for your mistake. So I guess you "asked her to absorb the cost" but "did not require it". Lame.

You can make any excuse you wish, the fact is I have the largest tegus AKA Giants AKA Chacoan. Your tegus are not Chacoan or Giants and never were, and you know it. You also know that Ron no longer called the white heads Chacoans and you knew this for a long time. However, you did not answer the questions:

Is it not true that you sold babies from these same animals the year before as normals? But then changed the name to Chacoan after you found out I had the true Chacoan giants?

You shipped this animal and it died, you claimed it was your "first" DOA, was that true?

I will also add, saving a few bucks by not insulating the box is wrong, there is no excuse for someone that knows better like you to do such. An insulated box is not just for the heat and cold, but also supports the box and pads the animal during shipping. You knew this though, but did not want to spend the time or money to make the box better.

You claim to love your animals, if that is the case, then why would you not do all you can to make it safer for the animal during shipping?

Also, to put the blame on the buyer is wrong, it was your poor shipping that caused the death of that animal, not hers.

There is much more to the story about Rick, soon after I met and befriended him, he was into corn snakes. He asked if there was a way he could get some normal corns that were not het for anything, he said all of the normals on line were het for something. I went out and caught him some wild corns here, I boxed them up and shipped them out to him, free.

I also sent him a corn snake morph guide; it was not a regular copy, but an autographed copy. It was and will be worth much more than a normal copy. I sent it out to him as well, free.

I had two of the first Reptile’s magazine articles that Bert ever posted in on tegus, I sent one to him, free.

Soon after I became an admin on his sites to help him with his sites. This past year I had a contest on his site and gave way two tegus, these too did not cost him one dime. I did this to help promote his site. Therefore, yet another free gift to him, free.

I also sent him two free baby tegus this year out of my stock for himself, again, free. He never paid a dime on any of this, not even on shipping.

I do not remember getting anything from him except a copied DVD on ball pythons, that’s it. I asked him about two of his T-Shirts, he quickly gave me a link to pay for them, which I did. I also asked him about my photo album on his site where I was an admin for him. I got a notice that my album was full and needed to be upgraded. I asked him how I could upgrade it, he gave me a link to pay $15 for that as well.

Then came the discussion about going to Daytona, he was all for it. Later as time grew closer to time for the show, he contacted me and said his wife would be unable to go. He said he just really did not have the needed funds. I told him I would pay for their room if they came. Rick the reserved an airplane ticket for just himself, I told him that was fine because my sitter for my baby backed out on keeping him. So at this point my wife decided to stay at home with our baby, as well as take care of our animals.

I contacted Rick and told him that my wife was staying home as well, and that we could just share a room. I did know that my friend was broke and could not afford to pay for much at Daytona. I was prepared to pay for everything, and was not upset about doing so. I rented the car to keep from putting all the miles on my own vehicle, rented the room. Went to Orlando and picked him up. I will admit we had fun, went herpin and just enjoyed joking and cutting up. We joined up with some friends of mine and had a blast.

I drank maybe three beers the whole time we were there, because I was doing all the driving, of the three he bought me one. I paid for almost all the meals and gas, parking garage etc. I had no problem with this at first, but then he showed me just what he was about. Remember, by his own statement on his site he was broke. Well guess what? He was not broke; he bought a spider ball python, a blue tegu, and a Red x Black n white from Bert. He also bought dimmer switches and a few other dry goods. If was to guess, probably around $1500.00 to $2000.00 dollars worth of things. Keep in mind he was unable to pay anything on the room, car etc.

He did give all of his goods to me, along with $50.00 to ship everything to him, he could not take them on the plane.

He also has been saying that I should take him here to the BOI on Fauna, well he does not know the rules for posting here, however now that this thread is started I will add these facts behind the man. This is not over a business transaction, but does shed light on his nature. This part is just a very deceptive dispute from someone I thought was a friend.

He now asks what happen to the friendship, need he really ask?

mIRC PM:
<Rick^> You claimed you didn't get my message, so I will assume you disconnected and lost the PM so I will try again
<Rick^> Bobby, would you like to talk and try to clear up this crap? Neither one of us is looking very professional through this muck. We can work things out and try to put it behind us. You can have your site and chat and I will have my site and chat. I am not suggesting being bros again, we both need a little time to see how that will go, but my offer is to just discuss all of this.. You and me.. and then we can resolve it and move on.
<Rick^> I posted the same in the chatroom and to you via email.
<Rick^> Call me if you want to resolve this.
<Varnyard> You want to resolve this? Tell the truth> http://www.tegutalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=164
<Rick^> Bobby
<Varnyard> Yes?
<Rick^> Do you honestly want to get to the bottom of things or not?
<Rick^> To me, I think there are some issues and misunderstanding
<Varnyard> It is all right there
<Varnyard> Rick I was a true friend to you
<Rick^> But do you want to really go over everything step by step and resolve it?
<Rick^> Bobby: I agree
<Rick^> You were a great friend

<Rick^> and I would hate to see misunderstandings become a problem
<Rick^> and I do see some validity to your post
<Varnyard> Did you act like mine
<Rick^> so do you want to talk?
<Rick^> I really do miss your friendship (not just the 'stuff' but the times we chatted, pmed and talked)
<Varnyard> Not right now, you hurt my feeling pretty bad
<Rick^> but I understand there are some issues that need to be resolves
<Rick^> resolved
<Rick^> Bobby.. I really didnt even see some of the stuff that was bothering you
<Rick^> like the stuff you gave me
<Rick^> you are correct, i should have been more giving in return
<Varnyard> It is not about Giving
<Rick^> I should have told you when i got to Daytona that dad have given me a loan right before I left
<Rick^> and I should have offered to pay 1/2 of the room
<Varnyard> It is about bieing a friend
<Rick^> but I did try to keep paying for meals, but we ended up flopping back and forth
<Rick^> Bobby: To me, you were always a great friends.. I spoke highly of you to everyone
<Rick^> I enjoyed meeting you, it was the only reason I even went to florida
<Varnyard> I had no problem with paying for everything
<Varnyard> None at all
<Rick^> the expo was ok, but I actually spent most of the time walking and talking with you,
Cheris or shawn
<Varnyard> I wanted to meet you, you were one of my best friends
<Varnyard> Money means nothing

I know the last part is personal, but it shows the true colors behind the man. I will not ever deal with Rick again, or call him any kind of friend. He is great at cut throat and this is something I choose not to call friendship.

I will add one thing more to this, he seen my Chacoans at Daytona, not one of them but five. He knows that mine are not like his at all but yet tells people the ones he is selling are just like mine.

He also accused me of stealing his buyer, when this was not true either. The man he speaks of bought a normal the year before said to be out of the same pair he calls Chacoan. This past year that same buyer put a deposit on one of Rick's so called Chacoans, only later to find it was out of the exact same pair as the year before that were normals. He contacted Rick and told him he did not want that animal if it was out of the same pair sold to him as normal the year before. That buyer lost his deposit with no refund from Rick, he then put a deposit on one of my true Chacoan Giants. He got the one from me and seen they are nothing alike.

Bobby,

Yes, that post was personal and not related to business, but it shows not that I am an ass, but that even in a private conversation with a friend that was having some personal issues with me, that I talked about resolving the personal issues.

You were not interested. The personal stuff has been hashed over and over and you are not interested in putting it behind us. You are the one now being the ass.

As far as your chacoans. You made a claim, can and will you back up the claim that you tegus are chacoans? You must have some documents claiming such if you are swearing that yours are from chaco?

I do realize that my customer, Katie. was getting upset about the idea of shipping it back. Which is why I was happy when she was willing to donate it for educational purposes, which is something I feel strongly about.

In hindsight, I would have handled it different, and I now handle all current customers accordingly.

I will tell you what Rick, you are not worth the effort of resolving anything. You shown your true colors and lost a true friend, that is up to you to deal with, there is no second chance on this.

As for proof, Chacocan=Giants, need I say more?

I am done with you and this thread, you are not even close to being worth my time. People can see the truth here, it is very bold in your actions and words.

Can you prove that they aint Chacoans, Rick? Then dont make claims that you cant back up. Import papers when it comes to South America dont mean a thing about the origin of that animal and you know it Rick.

While the evidence to date is not 100% conclusive, it is certainly pointing in the direction that Bobby has true Chaco Giants. Even Burt believes Bobby's are different than anything he or anyone else in this country has. Bobby has publicly shared a small books worth of information on the distinguishing characteristics of the animals in question. It is on his site and many others for all to read.

Where is the information you have to back up your claims that Bobby is lying or wrong? Even Burt says a scale count is needed on these animals to take us to the next step of discovery and closer to certainty. I have seen no one other than you, Rick, try to dispute what Bobby has. But I have never seen you post one word of fact to back up what you say. So please share some FACTS to back up your claims or stop making false claims yourself. At least Bobby has shared the scientific data and has shown how that data does point in the direction of his Tegus being different for certain, and very possibly from the Chaco region. You just make baseless claims.

Could you or Bobby post some links to this data please? I'd like to see it for myself out of curiousity, and I just don't have the time to research it like I used to.

Well then, it doesn't seem you claim something to be something when at this time it is only pointing to it. JMHO.

Here is a little info:

http://www.tegutalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=199&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Also Bert's video of tegus where he is in the chaco region show the lighter color and the V under the chin just like the babies on that link. It is about 20 minutes into his video. And Rick has that video as well.

Also Ron, clearly states they are the largest tegus, the white heads are not any larger than the normals. I have many white heads, they are not Chacoan or larger in size.

Another very big difference is the egg size and weight. The normal egg weight is 16 grams, the giant egg weight is 26 grams, that is a 10 gram difference in egg weight.

One other point about normal Argentines is they can range in color to almost black to very high white, and all of the shades in between. You do not have just dark ones and just white heads, but a full range of light and dark differences in all the shades in between. Where does the line cross to make them Chacoan, how much white is needed? They are the same size, the do not get larger as they turn lighter in color.

I have light colored white heads, and I do not jack the price on them, they are nothing but normal Argentines that are lighter then some of the others, and sold just as a normal.

Hence why Bobby changed the name from Chacoans to Giants. Until he is sure of their origin. He did the name change to Giants several months ago. Try and keep up there, Kevin.

But Rick claims they aint Giants either, that they are no different than what Rick himself has. Yet Bobby has proven time and again via breedings and physical differences that they are different. I think it is Rick who needs to break out some facts to back up his claims.

Try and keep up there, Kevin.

Tegus are nice Sammy but I don't try to keep up on them. I was only going by this thread. Bobby said:

the fact is I have the largest tegus AKA Giants AKA Chacoan

So I thought that he was calling them Chacoan. My mistake.

Kevin, Chacoans are Giants, as well as the Giants are Chacoans. This has been the case from the start, people changed the name of normal white heads to collect the extra cash.

It is like pied balls, some have more white then others, does that make them a different animal?
