In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

RodentPro Rocks!

I had a bad experience with rodent pro. They were fast and reliable but I ordered wenlings and received adults and the mice were freezer burned and not fresh at all. There were broken mouse parts in the bag and the mice were dirty (shavings, feces etc) I have contacted them about this and I'm awaiting a reselutuion to this problem. In the future I'll go with indiviually packaged mice vacume seal mostlikly. I really wish all had gone smooth as It is so convienient to feed frozen. For now I'll have to continue fresh killed.
I'm surprised. I buy at least one full box a month from them, often two or three, and have never had such an experience. The worst that happened was a torn bag or large rats. But they were fine. I just put them in another bag. *shrugs*

As for the weanlings that were adults, did you weigh them? Their weanlings may be big but I have always found their product weighs what it is supposed to weigh according to their web site.

As for feces, a few bits of bedding, and some broken parts in a bag, well I suppose that happens. Rodents often do empty their bowels when they are "gassed" but not always. That there might be some poop in the bag is just a consequence of buying frozen rodents. I would expect them not to wash them prior to freezing, but rather to deep freeze immediately after gassing them. As a consequence there will be some fecal material still in and around them. Do you irrigate the bowel contents of your fresh killed rodents prior to feeding to a snake. I don't. The snake's stomach acid takes care of that.

I will continue to buy from Kevin and Kelli so long as they are willing to sell to me. They are the best.

I recently ordered from Rodent Pro for the first time. The prices cant be beat and everything was as expected! I can honestly say the people at my complex's leasing office might have been disgusted when a box from Rodent Pro with Frozen Meat written on the side arrived. Oh well!

My DHL driver always gets a kick out of those boxes too. LOL.

Just be careful with the leasing office if they do not know that you keep reptiles. Many leases specifically prohibit snakes. You may want them to ship to a friend with a private address or to your place of employment if that's the case.

Rules Schmules! Screw em...There actually is nothing in the lease about reptiles specifically. I like to live on the edge though..

Usually No Problem But.......

I have to agree with Matt regarding the smaller rodents being freezer burned with broken body parts such as feet, legs, and tails all over the bag but my snakes still eat them lol. I prefer vacuum sealing for at least the smaller items (pinky size mice through fuzzy rats) and will order these elsewhere from now on. As far as all of the larger rodents go I'm very satisfied with them and go through quite a few so the Greyhound option is a must. I would like to add that overall I'm very happy with Rodent Pro's service but they should consider vacuum sealing at least their smaller items to prevent freezer burn. I don't think this would require a major investment and the increased shelf life and product quality would benefit both them and the consumer.

No problem then, until your next renewal anyway. :p

I own and manage residential property for a living and I do enforce the rules. Of course, I allow pets and even encourage reptiles. :dgrin:

Greg,

You and Matt are in New England and you commented that you receive by Greyhound. That isn't an option here as DHL ground is a nominal 2 day delivery but at least half of the time the package gets here in 1 day. I have not had that big of a problem at all and I go through a lot of feeders for my collection (120+ boids). I wonder if the carrier is part of the problem -- different handling. Or maybe I am just not that picky. LOL.

Looking at the packaging, the two boxes inside the big box that was sent via Greyhound in the opening post in this thread look identical to what I receive individually via DHL so if anything they seem more secure, but again, it could be in the handling at least as far as the breakage goes. I have never received anything with freezer burn from them. Again, maybe I'm not that picky.

I can say that the boxes that they use are very tough. I slipped and whacked the side of my forearm on the edge of the box. I was sure that my arm was broken but I got lucky. It did leave me with quite a bruise though:

Greyhound Shipment

Jim, Greyhound takes at least two days to get here but the rodents are still rock solid. The boxes are pretty heavy and not something that can be tossed about easily which I would think may cause limb breakage. The freezer burn is something I've noticed recently in my last few shipments. Not something I have ever complained about and had I done so I'm sure Rodent Pro would have compensated me in some way. I didn't really feel it necessary since my snakes still eat the rodents all the same and appear to be fine. Aesthetically though, they're just not very appealing to me LOL. I will be sure to use them up quickly so they don't get much worse. Of course I'd be reluctant to replace them with more of the same with my next order.
I think it was Webslave that turned me onto Big Cheese Rodent Factory that I've also bought rodents from. They will be my source for smaller feeders. I'm glad you've not had any problems with yours. As I said earlier, I do like Rodent Pro for larger food items. If they could address the freezer burn issue on the smaller rodents they'd probably regain that portion of my business once again. In the mean time I don't want to risk my animal's health and want nothing but the best for them. I'm sure everyone here feels the same way.

I had ordered medium rats from RodentPro awhile back and got giants..though I've heard from people that their idea of medium is rather large. It wasn't a problem for my snakes though the rats that I got are awful bloody...is it normal for them to bleed like crazy when they've been supposedly gassed?

They all seem to bleed from the nose when thawed. But that seems to be the case with all FT rodents that I have had. Maybe it depends on the thawing method.

Angela,

You may be "comparing apples to oranges" on the size issue. What my local pet shop calls a weaned rat is what Rodentpro sells as a rat pup. Go by the weights and you'll be able to make a more accurate comparision. That's why I asked Matt if the "weaned" mice that he received weighed in the range that Rodenpro uses for that item (13-18g as I recall).

Greg,

I agree that I want nothing but the best for my snakes. That's why I have always bought from Rodentpro. I went out and looked in the freezer and still can't see a problem. Lucky I guess but I will be on the lookout for it.

I suspect that if enough people call them with this concern about smaller items, and at the same time "vote with their pocketbooks", things will change.

Bad experience

Well the situation was resolved asap and I'm very happy with the outcome.
Kevin has sent me replacements and was even nice enough to send 25 hoppers and 25 weanlings free of charge. I'll definatly do business again as this was very cool and proved to me they are a class act!

Matt,

That is great to hear. I'm glad that it worked out for you. I stand by what I said. I will buy from them as long as they will sell to me.

They do rock!!

Rodent Pro

I just wanted to add a few comments. The mice do arrive to me via DHL. Second I'm not talking about limbs and tails broken off I'm talking Heads and such I also notice that they are all squashed . This maybe a fluke but I only feed the best to my high end collection. So I really can't afford to be picky and insist on the best quality possible as I'm sure most everyone else does.
On a side note, Jim you seem to have a ton of free time on your hands since every post I make, either here or on other Morelia site you seem to have a comment. Do you feel there is a problem with my comments or are you just bored?

Jim said nothing derogatory about you on this thread! This is the board of inquiry. Why make any posts if you do not expect comments?

Dennis this post wasn't the post I'm talking about harassment in Jim seems to like to follow me around chastising everything I say.

Kevin Bryant burned me on a snake deal several years ago. Bad business ethics in my opinion. When I worked for him, I traded him $1275 worth of baby albino burmese pythons for 1.2 adult chondros that he never aquired for me. When I quit working for him he said he wasn't getting them for me and there was nothing I could do about it. This is what it looked like the day I quit. lol. :argue:

Brandon Osborne

I've ordered three times from them, a mix of mice and rats, and have always been satisfied.

To Brandon, $1275.00 is no small thing (not that an amount ever matters in any bad deal). Altho "several years" have past have you attempted to reconcile this with him recently?

I order from them as often as I need to. I raise alot of my own feeders, so I next extra 2-3 times per year. Last year, I had a very large amount of carpet hatchlings, nearly 100. I ordered a bunch of frozen feeders, and for some reason, it took them an extra week to fill the order. In that same time period, one of the hurricanes that was not supposed to hit us last year, turned in our direction. Needless to say, kevin had already shipped the frozen rodents, and they got stuck half way between here and there when the storm hit us. With no power, even if they had gotten here, they would not have stay frozen long anyway, we were out of power for over a week. The short of it is, Kevin took my call, and once power was restored, sent me another box of feeders free of charge. Really great customer service IMHO.

PS, Ever gotten a two week old box of thawed rodents in the mail? UGH....

Yet Another Satisfied RodentPro Customer

Soon after I got Lakshmi I discovered that not many pet stores in my area stock frozen rats. Thanks to RodentPro, I now have a freezer full of Burm food, enough to keep my baby fed for months. (Or weeks, given her appetite... )

As my snake collection grows (or, more precisely, if I can finally convince my girlfriend that we need a Retic to keep Lakshmi company), I'm going to be spending even more money at RodentPro. The service was fast, the rats are in great shape, and they were still nicely frozen despite spending a day outside my door. Not much more you can ask for other than that, really.
