In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

that might be why he does it over and over

Nobody has got him so he keeps it up .
In my opinion he is not a fighter but he is not a small guy either 6'6'' 300lbs on a good day.
He is not in the best of health even before the bite.
I am not like that I just want to be paid for the trade we made.
he will pay up or phase 3 will begin and if it was not pretty before
It will get worse.
I have picket signs and once we locate him and it will be easy.
heck he will run out and pay me rather than endure the picket.
its all legal.
one sign might read

!!VENOMOUS SNAKES!!!
in your hood!
XXXX john doe st

or CONVICTED
AND
EVICTED
now in your
hood

or RUSSEL
ANDERSON
SNAKEBITE
TEST
DUMMY!

or 5 kids and
20 deadly snakes
50 pissed neighbors

any ideas on a sign

Here is a pic of russ

Here he is with a bushmaster in the dreaded bedroom

I understand your frustration but that seems like a really bad idea. The last thing that responsible FL venomous keepers need is more attention and publicity being placed on this guy.
Local politicians and animal rights extremists would love a guy like that in the spotlight to demonstrate why venomous snakes should not be kept in captivity at all.

DAM! I feel sorry for the kids, I can just imagine him walking around the house with some little viper around his finger and him talking on the phone and get bit. (Something that happened to someone down here a while back). No offense shoulndt there be a law were if you get bit, you dont keep hots no more, until you can prove your knowledgable enough. Is it me or are all scammer either big guys or skinny little guys??? (my experience) Well I'm sorry alot of you FL guys have all those PERMIT problems, move to TEXAS. They dont Care. Oops shouldnt have posted that.:(

Sorry Guys. I was locked out of the BOI for several days. A guy at Joe Fauci's accessed my profile and changed it to his, and then tried to change my e-mail address to his!

Oops! I need to put in my profile again and my full name. What do you think of this one?

Could you please contact Florida DOW and prove that to me. I think that is incorrect. I need direct proof from a DOW agent. Not just some VR keeper who thinks he is right. Sorry to step on any toes.

I'm a she, not a he. In any case, you are perfectly welcome to contact Florida Fish and Wildlife yourself to verify information you read online. It seems a little silly to make a call to verify something I already know just to satisfy someone who doesn't believe me anyhow. If you require proof, you need to contact F&W directly.

I don't currently keep taipans, but I've worked with them. Wiggly bastards, a lot like a black mamba only a bit thrashier. Bad bite. And yes, I keep my own antivenom at home in the fridge - there's no way I would want to wait for it to be delivered given the size and potency of some of the snakes I do keep.

I have had my hot permit for several years now and due to the shelf life of most of the rarer anti-venom (Taipan for example) it is harder to come by. The way I do it is simply notify East Pasco Medical Center (its only a 10 minutes from here) of what I have and if I was to get hit they would know where to locate it fast.

Unfortunately, that probably is not true. The average North American emergency room doctor has zero clinical experience with reptile envenomation of any kind, including native snakes. If they do have one or two native snake cases under their belts, it can be even worse - they might get bold enough to try something completely inappropriate like a fasciotomy on your king cobra bite.

Hospitals have given or attempted to give Wyeth for exotic envenomations including Acanthopis and Trimeresurus to my direct personal knowledge. This is not medically justified in any way; it is simply medical mismanagement. However mismanagement is shockingly common in envenomation cases in the US. You need to be fully aware of that and to have your own bite protocols ready and well researched ahead of time, with published references that your physicians can use.

Hospitals do not typically stock the AZA's Antivenom Index nor do they have any way of determining what appropriate exotic antivenom protocol is, other than looking it up real fast on the Internet. In some cases hospitals refuse to administer a non-FDA approved product for liability reasons. Exotic antivenom manufactured outside the USA is a non-FDA approved drug and legally considered "experimental".

In Florida your best bet is Venom One, the Florida Antivenin Bank. There are some knowledgeable folks attached to that unit and they are the ones to call in case of exotic envenomation. They have significant experience managing snake envenomations and can advise your attending physician.

I should add that the Tampa Poison Control Center has some good folks on call, though the advice your doc will get from their center may vary depending on who is on duty at the time. If you're lucky your doc will call the poison control center to find out how to treat you, and they will probably call Venom One, and you may even get the right treatment - but do you really want to bet your life on it? I don't.

If you don't stock your own juice, at least stock the phone number of the Florida Antivenin Bank in your wallet. Don't bet on some random emergency room doc to know anything at all about envenomation. They just don't teach cobras in American medical schools, and they don't spend a lot of time on native snake bites either.

Joe Fauci bought a new computer for his shop. A few months ago, I had shown Joe the BOI because I think it is best thing to come around in quite some time and such fun! Steven tells me that somehow he gained access to the BOI from Joe's old computer from that time I used it. He says he then tried to join the BOI by editing my profile. Webslave locked me out of the BOI fom my computer/e-mail address when Steven filed a change of e-mail addresses. Lucky I caught it just in time!
If it was just Steven, I am not inclined to think that it was any act of evil at this time. I have only had a computer for 6 months, so I don't know what to make of this weird incident. As you know there is quite a cast of characters that hang out at Joe's, so I am a little suspicious.

omg!

Unreal,
I know steven was online too bad he did not post anything.
Yes with the cast of characters we all know anything is possible at joes.
Going to joes is like that star wars bar scene or a dmz zone.
since russ ripped joe off for the pair of gaboons.
joe is still on our side but he wont lift a finger to get involved with making russ pay.
everyone is different some of the people I listed at first post have been very quiet almost afraid of russ but I fear nothing
not even black mambas and russ is somewhere around the
mouse level no threat so you wont hear me go quiet.
as to the faci computer conspiricy I dont think they were
out to get anyone.
steven is still on my good guy list.

:alien:

who would be mr bogart.

They all are bogarts but who would be humphrey.
I would hate to ruffel their feathers so I wont give them names.
My phone would be ringing with whiners.
I know we are protected by freedom of speech but They will still cry.
saw steven yesterday he had simply went here and joes old computer logged him in as you he was tring to set his name and email stuff but he was on the profile page instead of new sign up area.
he had no ill intentions he has not owned any other computers and is kinda new at it.
He will be a member here might already have done it.

;)

Wouldn't it be great if we could get guys who can really talk, like Tom Crutchfield and Joe Fauci on the BOI! It would be a chainsaw massacre!

Commenting on the photo where the guy is handling an adult Lachesis without a hook:

There are actually a few snakes I'd use this handling technique with, or something very similar, for one compelling reason: physical support of a very heavyweight viper that would be at risk of damaged ribs from hanging on a standard hook. My left hand would be encased in a Midwest glove and placed about halfway to a third of the way down from the head. I would be supporting and controlling the caudal end with my bare right hand about a third of the way up from the tail. A taller and stronger handler could use a heavy duty python hook in the forward hand on such an animal, but I am a short little gal and unable to effectively use this tool one handed.

Anyhow I wouldn't really put a bushmaster in the category of "veterinary health risk from handling with a standard hook". A hook probably should have been used instead of his forward hand in this photo. But in all honesty the position the animal is in (as I'm sure you are already aware) is only slightly more dangerous for the experienced handler than standard tailing where the head is supported but not fully controlled by the hook.

A really determined snake can still get you if you are tailing with a hook. It just has to work harder and be a lot more upset. If you are paying close attention to the behavioral and physiological signals and are ready to drop the forward supporting hand if the snake tenses, you can somewhat lessen though not eliminate the risk.

It still looks pretty bad though, and it's not the kind of photo I like to see floating around in public as it gives the unfortunate impression of foolish bravado. Eg, "stupid snake tricks".

MIDWEST GLOVES

I thank a large gaboon wood go right thrue one of those gloves.
he shoud have ben uesing a hook

handeling methods

Yes the pic shows what it was meant to show.
Russ carelessly risking his life.
its not a safe way to handle a deadly snake.
now if he had been innoculated with that species it would not be as risky but the pic would not show that .
I use the gloves for many snakes but for viperid species with long fangs a hook is used also as MSTT stated.
steven knows about me getting bit twice through the gloves.
so he is right to be cautious with them.
welcome to the BOI stsven.
