a big green mamba

Steven,
a 6 foot eastern green mamba simply nailed me right through.
He got me good major swelling set in and I laughed it off.
Easterns and greens in general are way less dangerous than the black mambas.
I have been bitten by all the mamba species except western green mamba it is a wimpy as the rest of the greens.
when a 8 foot black tagged me I was scared at first but
since self immunisation does not work it must be luck
to have survived several hundred bites for the last 30 years.
and never even a claw finger like the commercial milkers.
They get a attitiudes cause they nearly die every time they get bit. most get allergic but don't know how to or dont want to learn how to get around it.
they would rather scoff at the idea of SI than use what we have learned years ago.

My answer is this- all he says is lies so I dont need to talk any more ITS pay up time or never let me run into him it will be pay up time. If he pays me I will let it go

I agree that the gloves are not 100% insurance against snake bite. A big elapid can chew through them given time, and any fang at the right angle can penetrate them. They will definitely deflect glancing bites, non-chew bites and bites that are not at the perfect angle for penetration, as I and other handlers have personally experienced with our hands inside the gloves.

The gloves are a little extra insurance, not a 100% guarantee of protection. I use them only in a few situations; normally I prefer bare hands so I have more sensitivity and control. Support of a very heavy viperid snake with one gloved hand would be one of those situations.

I'm not really recommending that everybody use the method I described - if you screw up the snake may well deliver a solid enough bite to the gloves to get through. I'm okay taking that risk for myself because I'm gambling that I can assess the snake's behavior and level of muscular tension well enough to be able to drop the forward hand if it looks like he's about to launch a defensive response. But I am well aware that it is gambling, and that a strike may be launched without my catching on to the warning signs in time.

Bud, remember that if you keep using your gloves for handling mammals that chew and if you clean them with bleach, they will definitely lose cohesiveness and be less protective. I clean mine with chlorhexadine or occasionally with an anti-virucidal hospital disinfectant if I am handling snakes in quarantine.

but the gloves work 90% of the time they are best for small snakes that dont have powerfull strikes or bulldog type bites.

I know a big black could nail me but I still use them im on my third pair.

Yes MSTT,
The midwests are too nice to use on biting mammals I use big
welding gloves with gaunlets now.
The midwests last longer when used for reptiles.
Becuase of my rabies shots I am staying clear of the racoons or bats I dont want to have to go through it again I have one last
shot of vaccine next friday its better than it was 20 years ago
but it was not fun gettting the 12 vials of immunoglobulin IG
and 5 doses of vaccine plus expensive.

Lesson learned

I have had a bad coon problem in my hood.
Got exposed while dealing with a problem coon and put it off Figuring It wont get me after all I am kinda hard to kill but the little virus is bad.
So after 2 or so weeks I wasnt feeling right numbness in finger
Went got the shots asap I have been told many stories but
the facts are on the cdc site there are three stages and not too
many live after stage three.
Here is a good tip if bitten the coons head must be severed
and sent in for testing there is no other way that is where I
went wrong.

There is ig which gives you instant immunities for me 12 vials 1 cc each six in each hip
5 doses of vaccine in the shoulders one day one with the IG
then 4 doses spread out day 3 theday7 thenday14 then day30
The ig is thick as syrup and if you get the equine you have a chance at serum sickness if you get human ig you can have other problems such as hep hiv ect .
yes it hurts but not as bad as a big diamond back.

well me i know russ and well i know some stuff about him this. stuff is new and i also know about bud and a few others but thats not to say im going to slander them all over the internet i take stuff at face value and im coming up with change as for russ screwing over people i cant say too well as for him oweing bud mambas thats his dealings as for the other people he owes money,snakes,whatever it is take the loss and a zanex its a lost hope you will probably never see or look at there slithery bodies again ,as most of you and you know who you are shouldn't as for going on and on about your lost loves. you knew what you were dealing with when you did it . one wise man once said he who wreastles with pig only get dirty and the pigs have all the fun. some of you may dislike me after reading this and all i can say is we all have opinions mine may not be the most popular but i do no from first had info. there are to many lies and few people know the truth ive been there done that and it has not solved anything . as for bud he knows me if i do any bussniess with anyone i pay up front but i also expect to get a healthy animal with that not saying ive done busniess with but but ive treated him with respect and i feel he has done the same with me the shourt time ive known him but i also feel there are some things that need to be set straight to 1. i was with russ the night he was bitten he WAS NOT stoned on oxycotin,vicoden,zanex,or any other medications if he was i wouldnt have been there 2.i cant say as too the 2 mambas but he has acknoladged oweing bud 1 mamba 3.im friends with all of you yes and russ he has done a few things i dont like but he hasnt given me the royal screw over that everyone says he has done to the but i ask of everyone to be fair to me just because i assosiate with him I AM NOT ONE OF HIS MINIONS AS ONE SAID and dont put me in a catagory because of him . i hope all of you get what is just and are able to get past this mess take care ..scott
