In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Using pictures that do not belong to him...
attachment.php

FaunaClassifiedsSnappersforchina_zps0d85114f.png

let me get this straight... he is using a photo from another user? tortoisehead? wow. Id be pretty pissed too!

Not only is he stealing peoples pictures, but a quota of 300 adult breeding snapping turtles to send to Hong Kong for people to eat is not sustainable at all. I'd like to have some snappers in the future to show my kids.

Somebody boot this guy

dont go there, the discussion has already been address and heads are almost rolling... he is aloud to sell turtles for meat, it has been ruled OK...
Reading comprehension clearly isn't one of your strong suits. No one ever said you couldn't discuss it. This is precisely the place to call attention to it. Now that it's been put out in the open, people are free to use that information to decide if his activities fit in with their own ideas on morality. While you've been deprived of the total gratification of seeing him banned, you can still play some part in limiting his potential clientele.

in all honesty, I am off the forum I regretfully created, I do not know Ron personally, but would hate to see him get banned over my feedback... and... I never said do not discuss it, I said do not go there ( meaning, what was already dicussed is DONE) so.. don't go over to the feedback forum... stay here. lol, something like that, anyhow... I really do not have many strong suits, I care to stay out of discussions, arguements and all that sort of stuff, like I stated before, my emotions got the best of me.... the question at hand is... are the pictures not his? :/

All Photo's used are mine. Even the one in question.

First of all, all photo's except one were taken by me. The photo in question was sent to me by one of my collectors. How is this a scam? You guys are watching to much of Judge Judy. Or your a bunch of Democrats who are'nt happy with President Obummer. If you really have something serious by all means attack me. And yes I am talking about Karma. And the quote is from Kahn in the "Wrath Of Kahn" movie. I'm not going to do anything because your attacks are without merit. However it's that point that my attorney will bring to 'Fauna Classifieds' attention. Good night gentlemen. Salmondu

I'm a little slow so maybe you could explain it again.

What is your attorney bringing? Something to attention?

As far as the picture issue is concerned, I have been in contact with the person that made the comment. He has not, to this point, shown me anything to back up his claim. In fact, one statement seemed to confirm the subject's claim that he (the subject of this thread) took the pictures. Since the original image (taken by somebody else) is no longer in use here, at part of things is resolved...unless/until the complaint is verified.

Many jurisdictions allow harvesting of snappers for food. Assuming all local, federal and international laws are followed (not saying they are), where is the problem?
Taking an animal from the wild as a postage stamp leaves a greater impact than use of that animal for food.
(Again, not endorsing it)

as far as I know, the BOI was created because someone was complaining about his picture being used... this BOI was not about catching the turtle... for clarification, for what it is worth, solmondu has contacted me saying he does not sell turtles for meat..

thanks

I've not done business with Ed, but I can assure you that I won't.

While I've never believed in the price gouging of US species due what the Asian markets will bare, I've never made any comments about how I felt about it, until he contacted me (unsolicited) to offer me 1.3 peltifer for $700.

I politely declined, here was my reply:

"Hi Ed,

I got a group of 5.5 from you a while back (through Arnie Larson), and they came in with a ton of shell rot, one had a broken tail, etc. Only three of them survived more than a week. I'll pass, particularly at that price. I typically get them anywhere between $50 - $100 a piece.

I've found wild caught peltifer at that size, particularly the stress of capture when gravid, etc. tend to not acclimate well.

Thanks for the offer, though.

My best,
Mike
"

Ed then emailed me back, and here is the conversation that ensued:

Arni did'nt get them from me as I have not sold arni for about 3 years. And you'd be the first to complain. As far as price goes Marc Cantos buys them at $150.00 each last season and Hong Kong is buying at $135.00 each this year almost my entire quota. Sorry you had bad luck with them. Thanks for the feedback. Ed"

Well, with all due respect, Ed... Marc Cantos isn't exactly a benchmark for accurate market pricing, considering everything he sells is near double average market prices.

As for what Hong Kong is paying.... I live in the US. I can pay $200 for a plane ticket, fly down to my friend's place in Alabama, stay for a week, and collect my two a day for personal use quota, and boost my collection for the cost of shipping. So for you to offer me $175 a piece when overseas is buying at $135 seems a little backwards, don't you think?

I'm a collector, not a breeder. I keep small groups for enjoyment, and surplus my offspring. I actually enjoy getting harder to find species in the hands of people who might not otherwise be able to get them, or collecting wild specimens for the purpose of captive propagation to lessen the need to collect hundreds from the wild... not just try and get the highest price out of what's living in my back yard (and yes, I understand they may not be literally in your back yard).

My best,
Mike

I don't think so Mike.

But you keep dreamin. And I don't think you can fly down to Bama (RT) for $200.00. Furthermore Bama stopped all collecting of all Turtles. Otherwise Mike Guglicrook would be doing it.

Now if you want to negotiate a deal of some kind I would work with you. Also I've know Marc since he moved to Fl. and worked for Mike Ellard (All these efing Mikes) Sorry!

Anyway do you want to work with me? I'm negotiable on everything except "PREPAY". On that its my way or the highway.

Best regards,

Ed

I'd read Alabama Administrative code again, Ed.

Alabama Administrative Code 220-2-142, section 2C, clearly states:

Nothing in this regulation prohibits the taking for personal use of up to two legal turtles per day by hand, dip
net or hook and line however, no person shall take more than two day from the wild in this state, to include public waters.

Published 3/13/13.

And guess what's NOT listed in 220-2-92?? Here's a list for you:

Malaclemys terrapin pileata

Gopherus polyphemus

Graptemys pulchra

Pseudemys alabamensis

Macroclemys temminckii

Graptemys barbouri

Graptemys nigrinoda

Graptemys ernsti

So maybe instead of trying to be a smart ass, if you want to ask someone to do business with you, know what you're talking about.

But I thought I was pretty clear that I wasn't interested.

Oh, I'm sorry ASSHOLE!

---------------------------

Now, in the meantime, Ed had also responded to me on Fauna, saying the following:

Mike,

I just got off phone with Arni. He says your mistaken. You may get baby's for $50 to $100 each but not full on breeder adults. I got an order 2 weeks ago from a guy in Calif. for 100 adult 50.50 @ $125.00 each full on adults. BTW pelts don't do well in water that is higher than 70F degrees. Unless your planning on eating them. Thanks. Ed

I wrote him back to see what part I was mistaken about (the price, or where they came from), but I haven't since heard back from him. If I was wrong, I'd gladly discuss it. But the group I got in August of 2012, via Arnie Larson, was said to a shipment from Ed (I still have the texts saying so).

In any event, based on the replies I've seen, and the reaction I got simply from proving him wrong, I wouldn't trust him to do right if a deal went wrong.

Understood, but it was brought up by another poster. Thanks for the clarification and investigation.

Jeez,

The original photo i was not happy about is taken down, and my issue is resolved. I was frustrated that i had people texting, calling and emailing me that a giant photo of me was attached to an ad for "turtle meat". After some emails with Salmondu, its resolved, the pic is down, and i went on living my life. Im not going to comment on anything concerning Salmondu beyond that.
