shady Andy from nerd strikes again

I think Eric was trying to emphasize how the drive would have been maybe?

Sean why don't you just ask him what he meant, or do you guys have a unwritten rule not to discuss fauna threads verbally? Like Eric, or was it Sean, said, this thread has pretty much run it's course IMO. The only thing I got out of it is that Eric, who lives 1/2 hour from one of the largest reptile displays in the country, can't/won't go there anymore.

Do Nerd and Zoo Creatures have the same phone number?

Yes, they do, after the phone call, you will get a prompt to hit 1 or 2.

Actually this is not quite accurate. They have separate main phone numbers listed on the web site.

New England Reptile Distributors is (603) 382-2772 and Zoo Creatures is (603) 382-3338. What happens after one dials the numbers I don't know.

public apology for use of negitive terms in thread heading

ill make this short and sweet
i have talked to andy via P.M. and apologized for the terms used in the heading .
(shady andy strikes again)
he was understandably upset by this.
we both agreed to bury the hatchet so to speak .
i wished him well and we both came to the conclusion it was a miscommunication.
i stand by my claim in my post as he stands by his.
its done and over with lets move on shall we.
Eric

You know, I think the most aggravating thing about this whole thread is that Andy isn't (and never was) "shady" and I don't know how he "struck again" when he never "struck" the first time!

I think it's really unfair that Eric comes on here trying to tarnish NERD and Andy's reputation, when he never even tried to call, email or work it out first. He could have at least waited to talk to Mike, the manager of the Zoo Creatures reptile department, when he came back to work the next day.

I think Eric flew off the handle here and I think that Andy is the victim.
Eric may be able to just walk away from the whole thing, but this thread may continue to haunt NERD or Andy next time someone else is looking into doing business with him. I don't think that Andy did anything to deserve that.

Personally, I'm surprised that anyone from NERD or Zoo Creatures even wants to do business with him at all considering the fact that he has been known to be a troublemaker in the past.

Maybe we should...

god bless you tammy
try reading the whole thing before you speak
i did call and i was in the same building with the man
i publicly appologized to terms i used in my heading but i stick by my claim
but "A" for effort in defending him

Tammy,

Many of us can sympathize with this:
Eric may be able to just walk away from the whole thing, but this thread may continue to haunt NERD or Andy next time someone else is looking into doing business with him.

The BOI is littered with negative thread-starters where the bad-guy is not as bad, if at all, as the thread-starter wanted to impart. If someone looks only at the header and the first post, then a negative impression is inevitable about Andy. In this case, and in many others here, a more balanced view is contained in the first 10 posts or so, which is pretty good for the BOI, and how it would be hoped to work. Occasional lynch-mobs here can do more damage, such that an accurate picture of what transpired is buried 50 posts in, but I think Andy will be fine moving on. Outside of some ruffled feathers, neither party has suffered any serious wounds, or been shown to be untrustworthy. As you recommend, it does serve as an example where folks should take a couple of days to cool off, and possibly make additional efforts to work it out in private, before going to a forum such as this.

Well, Eric, I did read the whole post. But you, on the other hand, should think before you type. What you have done will have a lasting effect.
Apology or not the title of the thread is still a problem, and I'm sure it will continue to be a thorn in NERD and Andy's side for some time to come.
I commend Andy for handling this in such a calm and professional manner. Or dealing with you at all for that matter. A courtesy that I don't think you deserve, especially considering your "history" there.
I know you know what I'm talking about. Perhaps this is a can of worms you didn't want to open? :D

Best post of the thread.

Eric and Sean,

What's with the double post? How come Eric had the post Sean was going to be posting a while later? I'm confused!

Regards.

I do appreciate your level headed-ness and peacemaker attitude, and maybe you are right. But speaking for myself, I know that several times I have done a search for someone's name and skimmed through, If I keep seeing negative threads about that person, I find it to be a big turn off. And the title of this thread is a VERY nasty one.
I'm sure that people who frequent these boards may see it as no big deal, but members of the general public who just want to take a peek and see if the person they may potentially be doing business with is "shady" or not may not want to sift through post after post of "he said, she said" to get to the bottom line. So, from that perspective I think the title of the thread may have more weight than what is contained within. If Andy or NERD loses even one sale as a result, then Eric has done some damage (as was his intent when he started this thread, he wasn't trying to resolve anything, he just wanted to try to "damage" Andy in some way), and when you start messing with someone's ability to make a living it goes beyond "ruffled feathers".
I don't intend to be argumentative with you, Jim, But I don't think that Eric should be let off the hook so easily, I think what he did is pretty lousy.

i went over and used his computer earlier in the day

Tammy, I don't believe anyone disagrees with you, even Eric. Eric's aplogized and has stated that Andy accepted his apology. What more can be done?

LOL .... and by that I am laughing with you here Tammy. I agree with all of your last post. I also think that Eric was served up a couple of plates of crow here too, not that his case did not have merit, but that he put a bit too much sting into it for some of us. While such posts are inevitable here, those being the "unfair" type, one would seem to at least want to consider "OK, what do we do" ? In this thread, Eric has taken considerable heat. Many posts indicate where Andy might have been able to do it better next time as well. Readers here might have learned to take that deep breath before deciding to use the BOI in haste. We would likely agree that a parallel thread saying that "Eric is a bad guy" is not a solution, and would only deepen the muck. One way that those supportive of Andy can level things somewhat is to start a "Good Guy" thread. It won't draw many posts, as they never do unless controversy arises. But it's done all the time here, and will be here for any future searches. Just maybe, through it all, to include much of the reasonable disagreement in this thread, the BOI gets a little bit better.

First off, I will address Dan about the double post from myself and Eric's Login... I let Eric use my computer while at work, and he never logged off of his account... so when I logged in, I jumped on Fauna to see what was going on, and I decided to post, so I did, not knowing that his account was on, and mine wasn't... so I posted again, the same post under my name with an explanation at the bottom... In response to Kevin asking why I don't just "ask" him what he meant about "I think Eric was trying to emphasize how the drive would have been maybe? " Honestly, I don't care if he was across the hall from me, I am not going to ask him about his inner feelings about every response i post on here. Just because I know him and work with him, does that mean that I have to run every thought I have past him before I post about it situation? If anyone here was expecting that, I'm sorry, I don't operate like that, never have, never will. I write what is on my mind. I was not WITH Eric when this situation went down, I was not WITH Eric when i made that post, and I am not going to call him on the phone and ask "So tell me Eric... what exactly was your state of mind having your kids in the car on your drive to NERD?" This Thread is to address an issue, valid or invalid... the issue has been addressed. If you want to start posts elsewhere bashing someone else in the threads be it Eric or Andy, or anyone, myself included, have at it. I am more than willing to voice my opinion about anyone or anything i have a working knowledge of. I am sorry if this post went off issue a little, and if I offended anyone in my response, but I get a bit irritated when someone questions my integrity by eluding to the fact that I am not myself, or that I have an ulterior motive.

Now that I got that off my chest, I will also say that NERD's quality, customer service, and reputation speaks for itself. Does everyone agree with them all the time? no, they are human, and they are prone to errors just like everyone else. Am i saying Eric what right? Absolutely not... Never start a thread about anting when you are still fit to be tied. Cool down, think out your words, and then make a post. Its all about Tact. Was Andy right or wrong? Honestly, I have no idea.. I can see both sides, but do feel that if you start something, you should finish it, or at least have your hand in it. I will also address the people here saying that somehow Andy's reputation and the stellar reputation of NERD will be Blemished.... If you honestly think for a second that this little thread will blemish a history that has years of work in it, you are out of your skull. But that being said... if you have never heard of NERD, and you are into reptiles, and you don't put quality with NERD... maybe you should look into getting into Birds.....

Dan,

I am always suspicious when something like this happens (the posts that you mentioned) but clearly the writing styles (Sean's and Eric's ) are so different that it does look to be an honest mistake and not one person posting as two different users.

Thanks Jim... I was actually waiting for people to start saying that myself and Eric are one in the same... Because we arent.. But if there is one lesson out of this to be learned... Make sure you Logg out and logg in before posting, because this could easilly happen to anyone else that lets another person use thier computer.... cookies are a wonderful thing.. :santa:

Sean,

Never did I question your integrity. As I stated I was confused with the double post and didn't know you were both sharing the same computer.

Thanks.

Thanks... I was just a little wound up about the double post myself and the possible repercussions of posting under two names the same post and same IP... I have seen what can happen, and it usually isn't a good thing. I wasn't so much responding to your post as it was a general question, but more on the posts about why I don't run things past Eric before I post things... Unfortunately, you were an innocent bystander that got lumped into a generalization, and for that I apologise.
