shady Andy from nerd strikes again

I wasn't faulting andy, just saying one way to avoid this type of stupidity is NOT to answer a phone for a business for which you do not work and have no say so in the day to day dealings of.

He was a nice guy and look what it got him. Had he simply minded his own business, this entire thread would not be here.

Not finding fault, just looking at it from another point of view.

Gotcha. It is the old no good deed goes unpunished. Often true. Though honestly in this case Andy claims he made it clear more than once that he was not making the deal. Eric has not refuted that. The problem seems more that Eric didn't listen, or more to the point, that he was simply angry for having made a return trip with his three kids in tow.

Too true. Like I said, not finding fault with andy here.

just to make things clear there was no mistaking that andy stated on the phone the second time i talked to him that if i brought the first snake i took home back ,and if he was not there when i got down there he would instruct the attendant's of reptile room in zoo creatures to swap out that snake for the female that was left
(because mike the manager of the reptile room had left for the day)
when i got there they informed me there would be no swap and i was to take my hogg back
i simply asked for Andy to come down or talk to me as to why.
He could have then explained to me or sexed the snake in front of me
he could have explain why he thought i was mistaken in sexing it
i then could have contested the fact or accepted that i was wrong but
he didnt do that though
he does have more experience in sexing but what i saw was what looked like to me two protruding pink hemi penis's
i refuse to go down there again just to prove either or because we have already established we would not deal with each other again

when i left i was upset mainly because the he didnt take the time to come down and explain why he would not honor his latest offer
he only intructed his volunteers on the phone while i was sitting there that was no deal
and i stated when i left (not rant or rave or whine or yell)and i quote
"so what is he up there hiding for "
and this is bullsh#$t
ask anyone that has dealt with me i have always been proffesional and courtious

David, with all due respect, that quote is rather dated. The customer is not always right. While it's always in the sellers best interest to be accommodating, the BOI has made blazingly clear that there are some customers who are simply off their rocker. Customers who will always be discontent no matter how far backwards you bend.

Griz

Personally, I can't stand people that are in a bad mood for whatever reason and feel justified taking it out on the world. I'm sure that anyone with retail experience can relate.
Clearly that was the case here. Eric doesn't know how to sex a snake, gas prices are too high and he is irritated by his children, so he's searching for someone to take his frustrations out on, so it's Andy's fault.

In order to be "always right" wouldn't one first need to actually be a customer?
And Eric is not a customer in this situation...
CUSTOMER as defined by Merriam Webster:
"one that purchases a commodity or service"
If you ask me, taking in an unwanted snake that Zoo Creatures and NERD have no desire for whatsoever is doing HIM a FAVOR! So why is there any need or obligation to bend over backwards to make him happy? -Not that that would be possible anyway...

Eric,
I believe that you believe all of your post #44 to be the truth. We will never be able to know for a certainty that Andy told you that you could return to get the other female. If that was the case, and things went as you say, it would add up to a whole lot of aggravation. Andy's recollection may be otherwise, and I offer this only as a "supposed", but since it was you who mentioned the "other female", he may have responded to it in a way that meant one thing to you, and another to him. its that "verbal" thing. If this were like "Groundhog Day", you both would be looking for a do-over or two on the next try.

tammy
what ever your opinion of my situation may be
please do not presume to know how i feel towards my children
i love all of my children with all of my heart and soul
i was not aggravated by them ,i was annoyed at the situation and the lack of tact taken in dealing with this trade

tammy's quote:

CLEARLY you are sick of irritated people brought on by the christmas rush
tell me i was wrong ,state your opinion but please have the descency to leave my children or my personal relationship with them out of your comment
its just in poor taste
thanks,
Eric

thanks jim
ill pass it on to all four of them
thanks for the level headed comments
and to all of you guys that have approached this thread with a sense of respect and trying to see both sides of the story ,seeing passed the bickering
i hate when my temper gets the best of me in times when i feel wronged
thanks again
Eric

I think the title of this thread says a lot about the person having the problem. I’ve known Andy for years, he might be a lot of things, but shady isn’t one of them and there’s nothing about this trade-gone-bad that supports the accusation.

It’s unfortunate that things when wrong here and its clear the OP felt a lot of frustration. His expectations in this situation weren’t met, the person he wanted to help him wasn’t going to and while he felt in some way he was trading with NERD, he wasn’t. However a representative from the company he was knowingly dealing with, Zoo Creatures, was there to resolve this. But I strongly suspect, as Andy alluded to, that the level of emotion displayed by a frustrated Eric played a role in how this was ultimately handled.

You can’t go around calling everyone a shady scammer every time something goes wrong in a business transaction. Reasonable people generally get reasonable assistance from reputable companies. Demanding emotional people often get the minimum attention needed to be rid of them - just human nature.

Jeez NeoScales I must have missed the post where he called Andy a Scammer?? Lets not make this worse than it is and type words in others post( put words in others mouths) I can't say Shady is a great choice of words in this situation but it's what the man used... Randy

I have been sitting back reading this thread on and off today, holding my tongue, and I will keep my opinions to myself. I will say that I ahve known Eric for many years, as we work together at our real jobs. Eric has always been clear and up front, and isn't one to just "blow up" about trivial matters. It takes alot to get him going, and this situation was jsut one of those things.
He called me right after this event, and told me the story, and I have to agree, I would ahve been a little on the annoyed side myself. It seems that this event has been a bunch of little issues that grew into a snowball from hell so to speak, and it is coming to a point where you are picking sides and exchanging blows.
The whole issue was snake traded, not snake he thought he was getting, called to replace, told to return, gets there and told that trade not good, take original snake home. Those are the facts, everyhting else is fluff. Would i be upset if after 2 hours driving with 4 kids in the car to return in the end with the snake I started with? Probably... I could only imagine how I would feel.
Was this final situation approached in the correct way? No, probably not... did it happen? Yes, it did. In my opinion, both parties have a certain amount of blame in this no matter whose side you decide you want to be on, you have to admit that both sides had a certian amount of error in this issue. No one person is to blame...
And as an afterthought.. It really isn't polite to question a mans feelings towards his children, or to comment on his mental state when it comes to his children.. to do-so is in verty bad taste. Also, the statements about "daddy duty" and whatnot... I don't know how anyone else raises thier kids, that isn't my concern, but home or at work, awake or asleep, I have a daughter, and her father, and I am always on daddy duty.... so there is no "daddy-duty-free time".
Well, kind of long, and probably not a neccessary contribution to this thread, but its my say... my 2 cents so to speak... The Horse wasn't quite dead yet... :deadhorse (i think it is now)

Yes, but he stated "strikes again" and for the life of me, I can't seem to find any other instances where "Shady Andy" struck the first time.

Indeed, the kids should have been left out of it... Dad

like it was said there will never be any concrete evidence of what took place
but i can say when i took the time to come back down
you Andy, couldnt even take the time to walk down a flight of stairs to explain the situation.

maybe you could have scooled me on popping a male
last time i checked when you pop them and to long pink hemi penis's come out that is a sure indication of a male
so i essence you are lying to save face
as for wasting my time and gas to come down and confront you again
knowing full well that you probably would find a way to slip out or become
(busy with upstairs duties)
no thanks
i will take my business elsewhere
and im sure mike the manager stated that you had last say in boa decisions
even though he runs the reptile room
when i called you and told you of the sexing mistake you said you would take care of it

to clarify as well there was no whining or foul language
but i did voice my opinion and asked to speak to you directly
The sentence I underlined and the words I bolded set me in red flag mode first, then other things did...

Why would you have considered the first trip back a confrontation even if it HAD been a real sexing mistake? If you thought of it in terms of a confrontation and treated it like one, then you got what you asked for; why complain? A mistake (had one really been made) is a mistake; there is nothing confrontational about it.

You are perfectly right that the kids shouldn't have been brought up and should have been left out of any comments; I agree wholeheartedly! :)

However, you did it first - see below - and did it in a way that was a pretty clear innuendo that the kids added to your frustration, or at the very least made the trip more difficult. Tammy didn't presume the kids irritated you, nor did anyone else; you pretty much said it yourself.

ericfire said:
and as for your two cents dave
you try carting around three kids in a car for this kind of result
to say the least its really frustrating
im sure on a different day this might have gone more smoothly
its just one of those things
every time i have delt with nerd there have been conflicts either with price or something else
maybe its my luck i dont know
im done ill just stay away from them
i wish them luck and all the best and i am not angry so much anymore
just dissappointed in the alleged biggest and best breeders in the north east

Once again, I agree; but we should probably back up and remind the dad that it isnt polite to use his kids as an excuse for a temper or bad mood... to do so is in very poor (bad) taste.

Here i thought i would be good dealing with new England reptile i thought i would bypass classified sales with my hogg male.
So ,i call down to nerd and talk to Andy about a trade with my hogg for a snake down at nerd. So ,i call down to nerd and talk to Andy about a trade with my hogg for a snake down at nerd

Do Nerd and Zoo Creatures have the same phone number?

Denise, I agree 100% that no matter where the kids were brought into the discussion, they shouldn't have been, I think Eric was trying to emphasize how the drive would have been maybe? I do feel that this entire thread could have been worded a little bit better to keep to the point and get it resolved. Some things were said out of anger and that isn't necessarily something you want to put out there in a public forum because you can't edit your posts, and in hind-sight, you may not feel the same way after a few hours or you hear explanations.
