The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

shady Andy from nerd strikes again

Eric, if you have a problem EVERY time,

at the same place, maybe it is YOU, OR maybe YOU should go elsewhere?

Dave

I was gonna stay out of this but,

While visiting New Hampshire last spring, my friend took me to Zoo creatures as a surprise. Kara was working the counter, remembering me from the year before at NARBC Anaheim, dropped everything, gave me a big hug, and took me upstairs for a personal behind the scenes tour of the NERD facility.

Not only was I extremely impressed by the size of their operation, but also the cleanliness as well. I briefly met Andy on my tour and he was very busy, feeding and cleaning animals.

Kara didn't have to do anything for me, but, took time out of her very busy day to show me not only the facility, but her personal collection as well. She got called away for a moment and trusted me with hundreds of thousands of dollars in BP morphs.

Kevin, Kara, and crew run a class act in New Hampshire and I can't thank her enough for the tour and photo's she let me take of their animals.

This may have been your first BOI post.,,.but a very good one it was. It's nice to see some good old fashioned common sense. ;)

Thank you Cathy. It was awfully long though. I do apologize for getting a bit up on my soapbox over something like this and being so wordy. I just get a bit up in arms when I see reputations bashed around and the BOI used in this manner. It's such a valuable tool for so many when one doesn't have to wade through this sort of thing. :)

Joanna,
You were right on the money. Reputations being bashed a bit too willy-nilly, and the ensuing food-fights, are the Achilles Heel of the BOI and Fauna. Jump on that soap-box anytime it suits you, as it is the only remedy left. Happy holidays !

Disagree.

One remedy is to do like Laura did and provide a description of a personal experience, letting others be the judge. It speaks well of Kara that she took the time to do all she did.

Another remedy is for people to just catch themselves when they feel like a thread is escalating and just vow to make calm replies and not get caught up in the craziness.

What's past is past and a reply made in anger and haste is there forever, but one always has a choice as to how a subsequent post goes.

Easier said than done, yes. But it can be done. Do you agree?

it was suggested by a moderator that i enter this ,my other thread into here
so here goes

ericfire good guy/foot in mouth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have taken some time for some personal reflection and have come to the conclusion that at times i am my own worsed enemy
i wanted to take the time to make some heart felt apologies and to explain why i have acted the way i have
i am usually a level headed courtious and professional person
unfortunately my current actions do no display this very well
first to Andy
i sincerely apologize for any and all negative things i have said either on a personal level or professional level
this my sorry attempt may not make things ok ,probably not but i hope in time you can come to accept it
and to kara
the times you have given me to redeem myself on your site have been more than enough and i apologize for the remarks towards you and the members of nerd forum.
i have had a hard couple of years in my personal life and unfortunately some people have felt the brunt of my frustration
this is unacceptable and for that i am truly sorry
by alot of standards i am a fledgling in this business and it hasnt been an easy start
i promise there will be no more of this malarky from me and
my actions only over time will have to speak for themselves
to the readers of this thread please accept this as only a man trying to better himself and trying to battle his own demons
i am truly not the hot headed idiot i appear to be here
alot of people have many of the same issues in life and do a better job containing themselves , but i will try to better my self

i work in progress
Eric

Lucille,
Maybe splitting a few too many hairs here in disagreement, but I think that I read that you disagree with this:

Jump on that soap-box anytime it suits you, as it is the only remedy left.

.... as you went on to state ways that the trashing of reputations with a bit too much ease can be curtailed. Individual self-control is, and always has been, the first best way. It is what many here exercise regularly, and could be cited as the main reason that things don't fly off the handle even worse than they do here, as there is no other policing action. While we can hope and pray for more self-responsibility, the post by Joanna was a form of peer pressure, which is often effective in influencing more self-control. This thread was an example of peer pressure, in the form of peer review and criticism, having a positive effect on the tone of the discussion. My point was, and question to you is, how do you impact here to achieve that result in others who do not practice it ? Without the harsher rule enforcements that have now been abandoned here, it is a self-policing site regarding the desire of some to be loose with the reputations of others. Without an influence to change, my experience is that things stay the same.

Kudos Eric. We all need to take a step back from time to time. It may be the measure of a true friend who gives the nudge that help one to do that.

.

I think you've asked the question that societies have asked from the beginning of time.
There are certain people here who treat the rules here as challenges rather than guidelines. Some challenging of rules is a good thing, but when it is persistent and not done with the good of the site in mind, it will merely do damage.
Perhaps that is what they had in mind.

How does one make an impact here? One can make a difference in ones self, but I'm not sure without a proper framework if a particular vision can be created or maintained. I think though, the framework of good guys will stick around and help as they have always done.

One can always help others, give ideas on reptile care, and voice one's reptile experience. If those who are here merely for entertainment or to hurt the site nastily intrude into those kinds of threads, it will be clear who is here to build and who is here to destroy.

Well, I think that what folks often have in mind with the attacks is to attack and harm, not so much to challenge or test rules. There are also very few rules left to challenge anyway, were they the target.

Maybe so to this:
I think though, the framework of good guys will stick around and help as they have always done.

... but "as they have always done" gave us a status quo lamented in the "wild wild west" thread as coming up short. Most of us genuinely appreciate it when we see it, and there are notable examples more recently. As with Joanna's post, I like to think that I will always encourage more if I see it.

This guy said it pretty well:
You must be the change you want to see in the world.

wow Lucille and Jim
you two are clearly the representation of the higher intellect and
loyal students of life lessons and philosophy to which you elude to in your passages thus far.
very well said i might add

Ummm...ahh...Oi, every smart@ss comment I type comes off wrong, so I'm just gonna let your quote stand as it is...(maybe that alone qualifies me to be amongst the higher intellected ones....but I doubt it lol...)

Eric, welcome to Fauna, and kudos to you :*)

Heck Eric,
We're just laying out a troll line hoping one of the n'er-do-wells will attack. LOL ... didn't happen ! Anyway, your mea culpa was quite refreshing, and I had the pleasure of reading it when you first posted it in the other thread. I think that those here who followed this thread also saw you back off earlier-on than that, and resist some temptations to ratchet things up for another couple of rounds. It was a pleasure seeing some of the level-headedness that prevailed here by all parties. That's enough kum-bay-ya.

Eric, posts don't need to be filled with big, fancy words to come across as genuine and heartfelt. Your post said what needed to be said just fine, nothing "feeble" about it. ;)

Sorry, but this is not allowed. You need to post from your own account and provide your full name to post on the BOI.

Just for the record - and to his credit - Eric has been very apologetic to Andy, Kevin & myself in a recent PM. I've had several communcations with Eric in the past & the tone of this last PM is completely different than what I'm used to hearing. It sounds like he is earnestly trying to turn over a new leaf, and hopefully his future actions will reflect this to an even greater extent.

Thanks for dropping us a line, Eric. If you're as passionate about your animals as you are when stating opinions in which you believe firmly, you'll do well with them!! :D

Hope you & your family have a lovely and safe holiday season!

It is very good to see that Eric has aplogized and that you guys ( NERD ) and Eric should be able to move forward now.

I hope that this thread is about done and that another 20 pages is not added, over various ramblings, etc..

It is now time to give Eric grace.
