In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Shipnex (anyone used them?)

They may allow shipments of lizards but I thought it was in the lacey act that you must ship by next day service and USPS doesn't have this option with live animals. They say it takes 2-3 days.

"Live animal shipments (including poultry, reptiles, and bees) have very specific packaging requirements. Though you can drop them off at any Post Office, it might take longer to ship depending on the availability of transportation. With a few exceptions, pets and warm-blooded animals such as cats, gerbils, hamsters, mice, and dogs can’t go in the mail.
Live animal shipments using Express Mail® should expect a 2- to 3-day transport, so try shipping early in the week and avoiding holiday weeks with limited acceptance days and times. Express Mail postage will not be refunded unless the delivery or attempted delivery is more than 3 days after the day of mailing."

But USPS shouldn't have been brought up anyway, the only reason I brought it up was because I thought if shipnex can change between UPS and FedEx whats stopping them from making shipments through USPS disregard I ever brought them up.

Yes, largely I am speaking about shipping snakes when it comes to what is "legal" and what is "illegal", though there are many people in this industry who just flat out do not care and will ship whatever way they want to save money. I feel that those people need to not be in this industry, but that is not the point.

I would not ship any reptiles with this company for the fact that there is no waiver and there is no guarantee on the animal's health or well being. While FedEx drives me absolutely insane with their negligent drivers often ignoring "Signature Required" or leaving a box without knocking on the door or ringing a door bell, I can say I have had far worse experience with UPS. I do not trust UPS, even in the slightest, for shipping my animals. It is FedEx or nothing.

And I am 100% with Shadera in that being able to have the "Perishable" boxes and being able to put that waiver on the box for all to see is worth the extra money. While I cannot and will not speak those those not shipping snakes, I will say no one should be shipping snakes with any carrier that does not approve. While the arguement can be made "well, how do you think we did it before waivers were required" nonsense, I will state simply that times have change and people either need to get with it or walk away. The reasons there are so many restrictions now is because of irresponsible people not doing this properly and jacking it up for the rest of the industry.

Be smart. Do researched. Use common sense. Do not become a catalyst for failure in the industry.

Snakes should only be sent via SYR or ReptilesExpress (but SYR does guarantee against shipping errors and DOAs for a fee now).

ShipNex is not certified nor allowed to ship live reptiles, period.

There is a reason that their site is so cryptic and unbranded. Shipping live reptiles with this type of service endangers shipping for our entire hobby and industry.

I only wonder if lets say I personally am certified to ship live via FedEx, and use shipnex to print my shipping labels. Essentially thats all they are is a website to buy and print labels from. So if an individual is fedex certified why should where the label come from make a difference? The label still has the individual's name and return address.

SYR is still the best and frankly only option for us, I'm just trying to bring up ideas...

Robyn - ur post is ridiculous. Ship nex is merely a middle man that uses fed ex or ups next day services to ship ur package. So ship nex doesn't ship anything. They find you a cheaper rate using the services of ups and fed ex - there's nothing cryptic about it!

And as long as the shipper is certified to ship reptiles and uses the proper packaging and abides by the protocol of whichever service is being used for each particular shipment - fed ex or ups, the shipment of non venomous reptiles is permitted.

My father is an attorney and has spoken with ship nex so our LLC is protected. We have had numerous conversations and as long as specific criteria are met for each package, ship nex is authorized to label a package.. Provided there is not a snake or a venomous lizard inside.

This gets to frustrating. I'm not saying anyone should or shouldn't use ship nex. I'm just saying it's the same as using fedex or ups only cheaper. Everyone obviously should use what they feel comfortable with or what they have had good luck using. Ship nex has saved me $ to the tune of $1200 so far thiS summer, so I will continue to ship my non venomous non engaged lizards using shipnex. I'm Just trying to get out correct information so ppl thinking of using ship nex will gave accurate information to base their decision on. That's it.. I'm only trying to help those that don't ship snakes or venomous lizards.

So, Shipnex removes themselves of all liability if anything goes wrong since all they do is create shipping labels?

Liability would fall on the actual shipper - fedex or ups

Which I am sure FedEx and UPS will quickly try to pin on ShipNex. I'm glad you've had success with them, but it's not worth the saved money to me. I can see it ending badly for ShipNex eventually, or rather, ending badly for the reptile industry.

You have a company creating shipping labels at a discounted price but putting all the burden of that shipping label on the shipper and the carrier, which they use however they see fit without any guarantee for one or the other. When it comes to live animals, that is just a good situation to be in, in my opinion.

And the shipper has the choice to insure the box for whatever value they choose

Once FedEx and UPS find out that you have an animal in that box, no amount of insurance matters. FedEx and UPS will give you nothing, especially when you are sending animals without a specified waiver.

It almost sounds like your one of their reps as hard as you push for them.

Ok, you're right, I don't know what I am talking about : )

I don't think anyone on here is arguing with the fact that you know your shipping stuff Robyn.

Ok guys - I tried to help save some people some money bc the economy sucks and now I'm a rep for ship nex? I guess the BOI will never have a single thread that doesn't turn into a badgering fest. Ship your animals the right way for you obviously.

At least Robyn is hopefully smiling right now. Poor guy could probably use a good laugh right about now..

When using shipnex, aren't you using their account? When you have a waiver to use FedEx, it's attached to your account. If you're then using shipnex, you are using an account that has not gone through the waiver process. And since you can't choose whether it'll be FedEx or UPS they actually use, you definitely can't expect any waiver to be in place. Only a couple third party shippers have those, and Robyn and the boys from SYR are one of them.

I am speaking of course, of snake shipping in particular. I'm not even going to pretend I have a clue what's involved legally in shipping anything else.
