Bad Guy shipyourreptiles ups

Keep in mind the Adverse Weather Conditions entries may not have anything to do with the weather anywhere over the route. I have had delays with both UPS and FedEx in the past with the reason being stated as weather related. In most cases, the customer service staff told me the system gives staff few options when selecting a reason for the delay and they sometimes use weather related reasons as a "default" entry. The last time I had this issue with UPS, the staff member I spoke with on the phone was able to determine the package was essentially misplaced, but obviously, they are not going to create, nor use, such an entry as an explanation.

Just check the tracking numbers and 2 of the 3 packages are now in Chicago where we had/have a heat index of 105.

Looks like I was checking the same time they were updating - all 3 packages are in Chicago...

Keep in mind the Adverse Weather Conditions entries may not have anything to do with the weather anywhere over the route.

I'm sure this can/does happen however considering all the rain/bad weather going on last night in the area where these packages were, I think UPS is telling the truth this time when they state adverse weather conditions.

As a frequent shipper I know that this situation is very frustrating situation, but as the others have mentioned, animals should only be shipped Mon through Wed.. And, no matter what time of year the shipper should always make sure that the animals can survive for 2 nights in the box.. Just in case there is some type of hold up (like this)

As far as the weather issue goes.. Yes, the weather in your town and the buyers town may be fine, but there may be a storm at a connecting hub that is holding up shipments.. This has happened to me in the past with fedex and i am sure it is common with all of the carriers..

Either way i have to agree that this has nothing to do with SYR and UPS also did nothing wrong... I would call UPS tonight and let them know there are live animals in the box and i would be willing to bet they will locate the box and keep it temp controlled until it can be delivered.. (Fedex has done this for me)

I hope the animals are packed well.. Good Luck!

I must agree... Call UPS... let them know that they are Live Animals and that they need to be placed in a temp controlled area until they can be delivered! Good Luck and Hope the animals are OK... Keeping my fingers crossed for them.

This is definately not SYR's fault... it solely falls on the shipper and UPS. Shipping on Thur is a big No No to me.. I will never ship after Wed unless the buyer wants to pay for Sat delivery!

Good Luck To You, The Buyer and The animals!!

As long as we're blaming SYR for everything that everyone does, how about the economy, the lack of world peace, the oil leak, and the outrageous price of good chocolate?

 Now now Lucille...:iagree: LOL

Now, why is the OP blaming SYR? That's asinine because he shouldn't have shipped this close to the weekend, PERIOD! It's not SYR fault that the OP can't get his shipping straight, and ship on correct days so the poor critters don't have to sit there longer than they need to. OP you need to call UPS and see if you can get something figured out, because you should have known better in the first place.

did they refund your shipping atleast and how long did it take?

NO, that's what I'm saying, if they say it is late due to the weather you still have to pay and sometimes when they are in fact just late or held and it is their fault so they will blame the weather so you don't get your money back from them being late. They can't control the weather ect.. so yeah..

And mine has been over 24 hours late before and no I've never got my money back!

They even said one time that there was bad flooding in the road a few counties from here so I checked the weather on the pc for that place and called a friend who said "are you nuts is has not rained here for a week or more" so yeah they do lie :D

I do not understand why people have problems shipping past wed?
I have had shipments sent Wed, delayed till Monday in winter and summer, and no problems? Animals arrive a little thirsty but ok?
I think packing has 100% to do with DOAS then anything else............
I have seen alot of misinformed ppl when it comes to packing. Cold Pack, Heat pack, etc.
Heat packs for boxes going to NEW YORK at 40f, when its 84 degrees in memphis or knoxville? Cold Packs for when its 50-60 in those places but 80-90 in New York....etc.
9 out of ten times its packed wrong, and I recieve boxes almost daily, and cant believe some of the boxes I get.
I ALWAYS ALWAYS pack for the ROUTE not the destination.
Ppl should look into that......If I am shipping to Europe at 60f, and its 80-90 in miami or atlanta, or even jfk, im not gonna put heat packs!

I have been on the phone part of the day I also had to work 9 hours this afternoon and at work I got a live animal delivery from cal from UPS so again I'm sure they lied I live 60miles north of the mill and I grilled out last night and had a fire for the kids the weather was fine the storm that dump the rain was fast and heavey it didn't last long but anyway I have spent my free time making the calls and not posting here sorry but today my post here are taking a back seat I will post more info later when there safe or dead.
they UPS could not or would not hold them anywhere for me they went from WI to KY back to IL back to WI back to IL now they sent them back to KY it was some crap like that I got no return phone calls from syr just one returned email I'll find and post that later along with the ups stuff but thats all the automated emails and yes at least 20 calls 25 different people all with 30 different answers most told me that UPS doesn't ship reptiles period.

It almost sounds like they totally lost the packages with them being sent back and forth like that and had nothing to do with the weather or they were suspicious as to the contents and were trying to figure out if they should open them or not. Either way, that's not fair to the poor animals because most of the Drivers/Workers don't handle "Fragile" boxes the way they should!

also I have shipped a about 50 animals now and with 50 happy customers well untill now but They requested that I ship thursday They really wanted there order

That's all fine and dandy - but I believe a more pressing matter needs to addressed: Whether or not SYR is the "bad guy" in this situation, as you have labeled them.
I personally think SYR is not the one to blame, and I will not think otherwise until you have provided some substancial proof tha SYR is directly at fault.

Milwaukee Airport Closed Due To Severe FloodingBy sanain Milwaukee : WI : USA | Jul 23, 2010
Milwaukee Airport has been closed due to widespread flooding in Wisconsin as a result of extensive rain that started Thursday's afternoon and continued till Friday.
The heavy rain accompanied by thunder storms not only closed Milwaukee Airport, but also opened a giant sink hole.
Heavy rain that started on Thursday resulted in 7.5 inches rain in mere two hours. Heavy rainfall continued for several hours and not only flooded roadways towards the airport, but also flooded the airfield. Thus, Milwaukee Airport has been closed temporarily and it has not been disclosed as to how long it will remain closed.
On Friday, lightning hit two people who were hospitalized in the St. Luke's medical center. A large sink hole got open due to severe flooding. In southern Wisconsin, a high school was profoundly damaged. However, there has been no news of any casualties so far.
In a report by the National Weather Service, it has been predicted that on Friday, Milwaukee will experience another round of rainfall and thunderstorms.

SHEBOYGAN, WI, US 07/22/2010 7:17 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
US 07/22/2010 1:05 P.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

Your packed went from Sheboygan to Milwaukee - where is was held up due to bad weather (someone else has posted that the Milwaukee airport was closed for several hours due to bad weather. If you look you can see there is no departure or arrival scan for Kentucky the first time - meaning it never went there. The next departure you see is from WI to Chicago probably trying to get the packages to KY (the main hub) as soon as possible, then the next departure/arrival is to KY. So the package has not gone back and forth, but was held up in WI.

also I have shipped a about 50 animals now and with 50 happy customers well untill now but They requested that I ship thursday They really wanted there order

3 separate people in 3 separate states all requested shipping Thur for arrival on Friday? I looked it up and IL (where one package was going), MO (where another package was going) and KY (UPS main hub) all had heat advisory's today from noon - 7 because the heat index was going to be above 100. I don't know what kind of reptile you were shipping (you seem to be avoiding that question), but even without the delay, it seems the temperature were most likely too hot to ship anyway. What kind of reptiles were you shipping?

also I have shipped a about 50 animals now and with 50 happy customers well untill now but They requested that I ship thursday They really wanted there order

I'm just speechless. You are the seller. It is your responsibility to make sure weather conditions are acceptable before shipping a package, and it is your responsibility to make sure unnecessary risks are not taken. It's been in the high 90's all over. These live animals you shipped out are now in a box for much longer than needed, and much longer than they would have been had you shipped responsibly. Should I even ask whether or not you used cold packs?

Look, everyone makes mistakes, but to try to shift blame to SYR is just unacceptable. There are threads about shipping and how to do so safely on just about every reptile forum on the web. You may want to read over some of them, and begin shipping only Mon-Wed, regardless of what your buyer may request...you can even reference this incident when explaining why you won't ship out on Thursday for Friday.

Also, trying to read your posts without any capitalization or punctuation is proving to be problematic. You may want to take your time and proof read. It's kind of hard for folks to help or give advice when they can't understand what you've written.

You should always check the weather in each location the package will be. I'm in IL and the news talked about how bad the weather was in WI. It would have been easy for you to check that. Today we're in a heat advisory with storms, and nothing should have been shipped to IL today.

I don't find any fault with SYR or really with UPS. They can't control the weather. As stated before, ship Mon-Wed so packages don't get stuck over the weekend. So many places are having near record highs right now. I feel bad for those animals.:(

syr

All the complaining to them and or about them worked again as It did last month when a similar event happened and after spending the night in KY they pushed them out this morning and they were all delivered and I heard from two out of three and they are very happy with there purchases everyone was a live and well
I have asked that the bad guy be replaced with an info prefix as when it was all said and done they did get delivered alive. late but alive

Hey, maybe you should have let them attempt to resolve the issue before posting a bad guy thread in the first place. Hopefully you'll be more responsible with your shipments next time.

wow I got a red dot for this thread must be a lot of ups and syr fans

Not so. This post really doesn't belong here on the BOI. It is NOT SYR's fault that UPS stopped delivery for whatever reason, if they "lost" those packages for a few hours, or if it was in deed weather permitting problems. SYR can not control what UPS does.
