    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Another famous S-S Exoitc Animal Story. S-S had a booth at the ETHS show here in Houston on the 30th. I was looking to buy turtles for my granddaughter, the lady seemed egar to help but her Info on the turtles was a little misleading. When asked would the turtles we chose be compatable together in the same tank she replied they would make out just great together.She didnt really seem to know much about what they ate as I had already reseriched their diet. she was only trying to make the $275 dollar sale ,she got agressive and tryed to talk over me that she new more about turtles than me. At this point I should have walked away,I kept my cool because they were the only ones with what I was looking for Again inquireing if they were compatible and again she reasshured me they would be best buddys My granddaughter was asstic with joy so I purchested them They ate like crazy every thing seemed fine.The following morning the 125 dollar turtle was eating my 150 dollar turtles leg off. So much for the buddy system! I am blameing myself for not doing enought recerch on them and leaving my self open to someone who just wanted to make a sale

What's worse about the expo is that it is captive bred animal ONLY yet S&S has obvious wild caught animals, not just by their poor condition, but from species known to not have been successfully bred.

Did you approach those in charge with your concerns?

I did when I saw the turtle death bowls on a vendors table. The bowls were removed by request of ETHS.

People have asked before, but I've been told by multiple people that S&S buys their way into things with donations. The four inch law is not upheld at any expo I've been to so I'm surprised there was even a bother to remove the containers. I saw plenty go by our table with similar containers already in hand with quarter and half dollar turtles in the other.

I over heard the owner of S&S herself at NARBC Arlington in August answer a customer who asked about that law: "You're going to teach your kids about the turtle though, right? Then it is for educational purposes."
