    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the Fauna threads and I wish I didn't have to even make this post, but worse has come to worse with this breeder and I don't know where else to turn. I'll try to explain everything as coherently as possible, I'm pretty infuriated currently. I also can and will provide screen shots of messages sent, dates and times, and payments and emails.

The Exotic Egg had 250 dollar leachies, mixed locale babies, for sale. I started talking with her and she let me put 50 dollars down on one to hold it for me on March 7th. I then paid the rest, 150 dollars, in two separate payments by March 16th. At this point, I had established with the owner (I don't know her name) that there was a live arrival guarantee on the leachie. Her quote was (and I can screenshot any requested info) "I do have a live delivery guarantee, if it's not on delivery, you must contact me within 4 hours, we'll go from there.".

Some time goes by, and I have arranged two other shippers to get my animals to me on April 10th, making sure that the weather will be fine of course. This is important, because I work 40+ hours a week and only have Sundays and Mondays off, so I have to request days off to get live animal shipments. I requested the 10th off, and it was granted to me by my boss. I made this known to The Exotic Egg, and although she was weary of weather, she said it would be no problem if weather permits it. We establish this on March 22nd, and she agrees "Only if the temp is going to be above 40* overnight from me to you." which is fine and understandable.

In the past couple of days, during the shipping process, all things came undone. She wanted to ship my animal to me on the 11th, which I told her would not work because (as we had established) I had to work that day. So she (again) agrees to ship to me on the 9th, so I get the leachie on the 10th. She also then decided to give me a shipping quote. I once again asked, live arrival guaranteed? This time, she decides that live arrival is not guaranteed, but had not decided to inform me of this change. Anyways, I'm not dumb so I paid her the 7.50 to ensure my package, which was money she told me I would not have to pay. The money and lying part didn't bother me as much as the fact that she had changed her mind about live arrival and just didn't inform me, her customer, of my potential loss. If the animal had arrived dead, I would have been out of luck and not known about that.

Upon learning that my two other breeders shipping to me were having their packages for me held at our local FedEx facility, I asked her to also request the same thing so I can get all of the animals home and safe as quickly as possible (I know requesting this service costs no money). At this suggestion, she says "If your going to do that, I want to send it out on the 10th, for delivery on the 11th. I have to pay for them to pick up (which I'm not charging you for), so one charge to pick up everything I'm shipping."

I then re-explain that I cannot get the leachie while I am at work on the 11th. I mention that all of this going back and forth is stressing me out, partially because of unrelated stress. Not once am I rude. She then freaks out on me, tells me that she is cancelling the order, and sends me 150 dollars out of the 302 dollars I gave her. She now refuses to give me the rest of my money (she 'says' she will 'later'?) and won't be giving me the animal I paid for in a timely manner, either. She is currently insulting me via Facebook, which I will of course provide screen shots of.

So all I'm asking for here is my money refunded in full, because it is mine and she can't keep my money AND my leachie, it's one or the other. Also, I would like people to know that she takes pleasure in throwing personal insults at her customers. Let me quote one of the more nasty ones, where she decides I can't have the leachie anymore:

"Stressful ?? Ah, well I took care of that. Take a look at the 50 something PMs you've send me over this transaction, and if you can think of someone other then yourself, you may see why I'm done. I have bent over backwards to accommodate you, you want one thing, then no, something else. I spelled everything out in the beginning and you were determined to have everything your way, it was all about you. Well you "your wayed it" to no animal at all. You missed out, hope you've learned something."

I don't think I have done anything wrong, and now I'm out 152 dollars, because she won't give me the rest. She essentially is punishing me for having specific shipping instructions, which I'm sure a lot of people require because a lot of people have jobs where they can't just leave whenever or have an animal in the office.

Oh, and here is another insult, upon me asking her for the rest of my money or stating that I would write this thread if she couldn't resolve it:"Please go ahead, like I said, my reputation can stand on it's own. You will get your money all of it, you will get it, like I got it, piece by painful piece.
BTW, I don't know how you get anything done, you are on the computer/phone so much, your boss must love you. I have never gotten so many messages, ever." Another testament that she cancelled my order essentially because I was messaging her on Facebook? I've never heard such aggravation over responding to a customer over Facebook.

*I work for a multinational corporation in their Social Media department, I am required to be on Facebook for over 8 hours every day, so her insult is poorly formulated but still meant to be hurtful. :(

She claims my payments were slow and painful? See for yourself, also look at the nasty little note she left me when giving me almost half of my money back.

After this, she has said nothing else. But look how she insults me for no reason, all I'm asking for is my money, and she just calls me names and tries to make fun of me? Never seen a breeder who claims to have this much experience with customers act so childish.

Anyone's opinion is welcomed, I just want my money back if she won't send me the leachie and wants to continue to insult me while holding my money hostage.
 
Well now, that's kind of a mess. So many red flags.
This Egg must have a name, which usually comes up when you send a payment via paypal (At least that has been my experience). I could have that wrong.
Several things are not your problem, such as the other customer being p***ed, how many packages she has to send, how her packages are getting to the carrier, etc.
It sounds to me like the Egg underpriced her leachies, then found it to be inconvenient to get them where they were going. Also, I'm not sure why it was a problem to have the package held, unless the shipping labels were already made out and, again, it was inconvenient to retrieve more. Changing the DOA policies just makes the seller look very immature and not trustworthy, meaning you would never get a refund even if it was promised in writing.
As far as Egg's reputation standing on it's own, I personally have never heard of her.
Her facebook indicates she is always at the Michigan Show. Maybe someone here could stop by and at least get her name. I assume from your pm's that she knows about this thread.

Also, thanks for the support. I feel like maybe she thought that with a gecko so cheap I should not expect customer service? I don't know, I'm at a loss for words and very frustrated.
 
I'm with Noelle. Holding at hub is easier, better for the animal, and (I believe) is cheaper than delivering to a residence. I don't find your payment timeline to be long, either. Seems like a bad egg, from what's been presented so far.
 
Thanks, Rob. I just wish she would send me my money, I'd love to be able to just conclude this thread with a happy resolution. I regret ever hearing about this breeder.
 
The Exotic Egg attends the Talor Mi Reptile show held the 2nd Saturday of every month.

They are located in Redford, MI and I believe the owners name is
Kim Curtner-Larson.
 
I had no idea what her name is, I know she has seen this thread because I sent her the link to it on Facebook and Facebook told me she had read the message. So she's hiding, I guess. I just want my money back, I don't really care about her reputation or if she is mean or nutty or anything like that. If she would just resolve this like an adult, and not steal my money from me, I would be perfectly content.
 
Come on let's be a good egg and give the OP a full and prompt refund. Some people love the drama. These are the small jabs that lead to black eyes in this hobby.
 
I feel like she's damaging her reputation for no reason, unless she already spent money that wasn't hers. In that case, I would wait patiently for my refund but she says she wants my refund to be as painful as my payments to her, which makes LOADS of sense (sarcasm). She could just tell me she doesn't have any money and I wouldn't care as long as she paid it. But she's just digging herself deeper by being purposefully nasty in every action she takes, or doesn't take. Like speaking up on here, which she still hasn't done.
 
Oh and just to be clear, I paid a total of 302 dollars, she seems like she only wants to give me 150-200 back? I don't think so, she owes me 152 dollars. She is not going to profit off of this.

I'm not hiding, I've never had anything like this happen before and I'm just sick and very tired of dealing with this person.
She didn't show you all the posts and there were a lot!! First, these are not mixed, she asked me that and I told her they weren't mixed, they're E's, then she asked me over and over about the sex of this animal, and I got tired of telling her the same thing(nicely at first)--The baby is being sold as unsexed at this price, twice I heard: do you have a loup ? you can loup it, and twice I told her, my Ad states--Unsexed at this price. I finally had to tell her flat out, No it will not be sexed, she feels this is rude. Well, I think it's rude to ask the same question over and over again, expecting to get your way.
Then the shipping, she started asking for a date a month away when we're in the single digits here, and I told her nicely that I didn't know when I could ship and I didn't know what the price would be, prices change with the price of gas, and I couldn't give her a price until I could ship.
She's asks about do I guarantee after PMing has been going back and forth for I can't tell you how many posts(I gave her my phone #, even, says she can't talk on the phone). I do guarantee live delivery (that my animals are alive and well, when they leave here) always have but I want her to understand I wont be responsible for what Fedex may do. I also told her the only shipping service guarantee that I know of is thru Ship Your Reptiles and how much it is.
I also sent her an email, she didn't mention that, that said I was shipping on Wednesday for delivery Thursday (because of temps at the time) and she writes me back totally ignoring what the letters says, and says--So your shipping so I can get him on the 10th right? She is pushie, she thinks she can get what she wants if she just keeps pushing. Well, I'm just so tired of her and I just want this to be done, so I checked the weather again and it had changed(she got her way). I wrote her back and said fine, it'll work.

So the leachie is being sent the day she wants, it's paid for, I think alls good....Then I get another PM wanting to know the sex of the animal again !!! AND then can I hold it at Fedex...Yup, after weeks of daily back and forth with her, I'd had enough.

Why have you never heard of me, because there has never been a reason you would, I've been in this business over 10 years, I've shipped all over the U.S. Never had a problem. Yes, I'm at the Taylor Show in Michigan, come talk to me, ask about me, I've had a table there for years. I sent this girls money back in an amount more then she sent it to me,150.00 today and she will get the rest, feel free to keep track.
It's very easy to sit back and judge if your not seeing or living though all of it. You might ask the other people who are also getting animals from me that I've had no trouble with, or them with me.

So what you're saying is that I was a customer with specific needs, and that made you angry? Also, I asked two times about the sex, and the second time was after it was paid for. If you can find me asking more than twice, feel free to show the screen shots. This has nothing to do with the sex of the animal. This has to due with the money you owe me now that you freaked out on me this morning because I asked for my animal to be housed safely at the Fed Ex hub and that was just not okay with you for some reason? So can I just have my money back please, you've already made my day pretty miserable by taking my leachie away because of my simple request that bothered you so much. Post the rest of the messages, if I'm so terrible. Please, do. I posted anything relative already. All other facebook messages are not related, like sharing shipping info, telling me youre sending me photos, me telling you I'm sending you money, which I did within two weeks, so I don't know why it was so "painful" for you lol. I'd just like my refund now please.
