Just tossing in some food for thought, with hopes of not sounding like a broken record. The investigator says that the DA has the case. It is possible that charges may be brought, although not necessarily next-week. While I mentioned earlier that a civil claim could coat-tail a criminal prosecution, I did not mean to imply that it would manifest as an opportunity for victims to sound off in court about what a bum Chris was ... that's too much Court TV murder conviction stuff ... as someone suggested. What I think would be possible would be some influence on the court to craft an option for Chris that would include some restitution for his victims as a pre-requisite for his probation, should it ever get that far. Courts do it often enough. Does it mean you will get paid? Well, knowing the character of Chris, I'm not betting on it. But you would hold the leash, and if you can get a restitution clause in his probation, you then own him. He might have a mandate to make payments for 10 years (how fitting !), and if he screws up, he has violated his probation. How poetic ! The point I hope to make is to not be in such a greedy ... yes greedy ... hurry to reallocate the legal fund to something so self-serving as a "recuperation fund" .... sorry, but I laugh every time I read it. To those who disagree with me about the honor of a recuperation fund ..... call me crazy and we'll just always disagree. If you folks have no patience, the only option (besides returning all funds) that has an ounce of honor is the one that was made about donating it to charity. But it is still way too premature for that. And I mean like 6 months more minimum, and a year would not be unreasonable.
On another note, regardless of who donated, and that includes victims, but for anyone who would benefit from a reallocation of these funds to not recuse themselves from
all decision making regarding "recuperation" is a gross conflict-of-interest. I'd like to say that "I feel your pain", but there isn't a person in the business with much of a history who hasn't either been taken, or had a close friend taken, for amounts bantered about here.
