Mike

Thanks for saveing me the time looking for the old link.

You know I have to wonder at this point if Rian should be dealing with uromastyx.

On a side note, this is exactly why kingsnake is wrong for not allowing posts like this on their forums. Im sure if this experience, and the previous one had both ben posted on the uro forums, maybe people would stop wasting money on Undergrounds uros.

But then again, hell its been a whole day, isnt it the buyers fault now? Guess I will have to wait for the "official responce" on another web page.

under ground reptiles

i called rian today and talk with him on the phone about the ornate that died he say he will send one out on wednesday so far he is doing excactly what he told me it nice to see somebody stand behind his word as far as the other one is doing fine and eating and gaining weight and looking alot better rian told me to soak him a few time a day and it working fine i know it hard to take a person word on the health of a animal but rian is doing just that hopefully it will be here on thursday i will like to thanks rian and undergrond reptiles for standing behind his animals and thinking about other as well that it for now i will post again on thursday with good new i hope bruce gaudet

While I think it is great that this transaction is being worked out to you satisfaction, in your first post you described one of the Uro's you received as, essentially, dying, while the other was skinny. I highly doubt you would have purchased them if they were represented as ill and underweight.

With that said, I do not think I would be so happy if I was being compensated for the loss of one of my purchases with another from the same "batch," so to speak. Do you know what killed the first animal?

While I think it is great that Rian is trying to work with you, Underground Reptiles would not have to "stand behind" their animals like this if they sent out healthy reptiles in the first place.

Regards,

Lauren Rost

i could be wrong but...

something seems fishy about the story coming from the originator of this thread. Maybe I'm just biased against people that aren't adept at English.

Bruce

If you can will you post pics of the uros sent to you. Hopefully this will be plain enough english for people.

While I understand it looks very bad when someone cannot type/speak proper english (I do it myself often), however you cant really say they have no case due to that. I mean not everyone in this country is on the web or a computer all day. Many great people are unable to type to save their lives. Take my wife for example (please take her jk) she is well educated, speaks well, but cannot type to save her life. That being said she cares for our animals as well or likely better then I do.

I also agree with an earlier statement, a simple policy to live by....

Dont send out questionable animals.

Lets recap here, Rian sent out a egyptian uro that "must have been injured in shipping" that was never with another cagemate, but had scars that looked alot like either a uro that had been in battles, or worse an imported uro (when it was sold as cb).

Next he sends out two ornate uros, one half dead, and one skinny.

Who cares if he is now willing to work it out, it just seems too fishy at his choices of shipping out animals. I know S__T happens, and animals can and do slip through the cracks, however this is looking more and more like a pattern to me.

Again theese are just my opinions, and Bruce I do hope he works with you, but Id also get some kind of written health guaruntee on the remaining uro should you decide to keep them. And IF he offers a full refund, where you have to ship the other uro back, I would JUMP ON IT QUICK, but make him pay for the animals up front.(To be clear, Im not implying anything by that statement, just he made you pay upfront before shipping to you)

Underground Reptiles No Response

Hi,

I received a call from Rian today about the shipment of the ornate that died. He seems more worried about the post on BOI and me trying to ruin his business. I asked him why after 6 days and 2 e-mails I still had to call him to talk to him. I think I was more then fair when someone is trying to avoid you. If on the other hand, I would place an order would it have taken 6 days to get back to me? Well, anyway, Rian called me this afternoon to inform me that the Uro he has, the one he was holding for me and shipping out on Wed., that was fat and healthy (which I asked him when I spoke to him on the phone 2 days before is now too sick to ship. I wonder if I didn't post on the forum would he have shipped another sick uro? He said a friend called him and told him about the post, which I guess would might have saved another uro. It seems that it is no problem for him to refund my money on the dead uro. If he would have looked at the reptiles before shipping them, these things could be avoided.

I think it is time for people to start thinking about selling what they would like to receive. Maybe we can stop seeing so many reptiles needlessly perishing for no reason. I understand there is alot of stress in shipping, but most of the stress could be minimized if they start out with healthy animals. I also must say, some of the uro's were fat and healthy and took 3 days to get here. I can't see how one could change in 22 hours. The problem is the stress put on these animals when shipping. It is only escalated when there is a problem. This forum is the best for everyone. Buyers have a place to voice their opinion. Sellers have a place to do the same. One must understand that we must post good situations as well as bad. Maybe alot of these situations would be avoided. I would like to thank BOI for giving me the opportunity to voice my opinion.

I would also like to tell the person on one of the threads before that English and grammar have nothing to do with the care and upkeep of reptile. Also, to stick it in his hat and chew it ( Can you understand this?????????????????????????????

Uromastyx, Bruce and the truth

What is with some of you guys do you even know the situation? Or the person you are trashing.
Mikey Hinkel who are you to talk with your soul on your sleeve and your morals in your mouth? Do you know me? Did you try to? How do you say the things you do with such bad intentions? is this professional jelousy or are you just a bored kid whom noone taught any decency?

Bruce loved all 10 animals he recieved from 2 different orders then one broke down a few days later, sorry it happens to EVERYONE in this biz. The shame is the animals die but that is the facts of the matter and there is not a thing anyone has been able to do about it! Unless now that you have your animals noone else should have theirs!

It took 2 days to call him back after I got the Picture I took a few days off to be with my children during Christmas is that OK?

If the animals were so bad then why 2 orders???

Why because they looked great when he got them just like they looked great when they left here!

With Uros they do that because of the humidty levels in the different states and you can't fix them if they don't adjust that is just the way they are and if you don't agree then you don't know these are the facts not the opinion as some express with such velocity and vulgarity as well as venom.

Please stop this bashing of people you don't know the truth about there will come a time in this life or after that you must give an account for every idle word.

Sounds to me like Underground is likely just selling animals on the web, and then picking them up at the importers when the money arrives.

This practice is happening more and more and is one of the real causes of the problem. This is how it works (or often doesnt I should say) for anyone new to the herp trade.

Seller A advertises a animal on kingsnake. Often the animal is represented as either a pet, or a former "project" that intrest was lost in. Sometimes the seller will admit its just an animal purchased for resale, but often the story is more elaborate. The seller precides to tell the buyer they have the animal on hand, and it looks great, is feeding great, ect. They hook the buyer, and the money is sent. Once the money is in their hands they go to one of the many importers in Florida, and buy the animal that day. They never once cared for the animal, and often have not even seen the animal. I would even say some of them NEVER see the animal, as they send a flunky to do the leg work for them.

If you look at the above senario, that is why many un fit herps are sold. If you get a decent seller that works like the one decribed above, they may actually refund prior to shipping. But most would rather keep the cash and send a questionable animal then reveal the lie.

Im not against brokering animals, Ive done this myself for years. I even have and still rarely do purchase from importers myself. However its a far different game to buy from someone with the actual animal in their care, rather then someone who pre sells imports basically.

Now Im not sure this is what is happening here, but boy the shoe seems to fit. Maybe Rian would like to come here and defend himself and his business. Or will we again be re directed to his site to boost his ego and hit count? At this point I dont care if he refunds your money (not to sound harsh, I do hope you get it) I still find his business to be suspect to say the least. Finny thing is I have a sneaking feeling Ive met him before. In fact I am betting I know what vendor he was in Tampa. Anyone remeber what booth or round about what location he was at the most recent show.

If its who I suspect it was, I wouldnt buy from them if my life depended on it. It wasnt the worst table at the show, but it was in the contest. But then again after what Ive read, and the way it seems that underground conducts themselves, I wouldnt buy from them one way or the other (not that I think he would sell to me).

Im sure your reading this Rian, why not respond. Maybe you can enlighten me and the rest of the people following your threads. Maybe Im all wrong, I would love to eat crow if I am, but with only one side I am more and more convinced yours is the wrong side.

Rian

Nice of you to finally address all of us here (or atleast me I guess)

No I dont know you, but more and more it seems I know the type.

First no where in the post did it say this happened over chrismas. If so then no you are not wrong for spending time dealing with family.

Next no where was a time frame given on the thread, and maybe I was wrong for not asking, but the thread reads as if this deal in particular happened, and the complaint was made within a day or days, not weeks.

Next, honestly I dont care if you had 2 good deals with this person prior to the bad one. Honestly thats the way it often goes. You buy from someone and the first or second order are good to great, and then over time quality diminishes.

Next the reason why I am the way I am about your business is from the first thread I chimed in on your business something seems like a bomd waiting to explode with you. Maybe its residule anger from the tim bowles thread, but your responce of "it must have happened in shipping" to the condition of the egyptian uro convinced me your shaddy to say the least.

People who are willing to bend the truth about the quality of animals, or ship out low quality animals anoy me. It seems to me your are guilty of doing this. Up untill now you had not told your side of the story here, so I only have what I read in the posts to go on.

I do see you have a few supporters and thats good, everyone needs friends. You may even be a nice guy, but you still havent convinced me your a business to stay away from.

No Im not some child, or jealous of your business. I wish everyone success if they do the right thing by the animals and the trade itself. I personally have been selling herps either from my shop, others shops, via the web, or at the many shows throughout the country for over 8 years. Yes I do understand things happen, and yes they have happened with me also. That being said, I do try and pratice what I preach in the way I do business. If not dont you honestly think someone would call me on it. Do a search on my name, ask around. I am not a crook, and have not been accused of being one. However we do have TWO threads that Im aware of about your business. Maybe you should look at how your handeling your sales, and any problems that may arrise from them.

a boy with a big mouth

Enjoy the crow need some ketchup?

You were are and will continue to be wrong just not a man enough to admit it.

Rian

First let me publicly say I am sorry if you do not vend at the tampa show. I am wrong if thats the case for even bringing this up. However I could have swore I read that you did do the show, anyways again I WAS WRONG FOR MAKEING THAT ASSUMPTION.

Next let me say that you can hopefully see I am willing to be a big enough man to eat crow and appologize if I am wrong. And honestly no I dont like to bash yours or anyone elses business. As I said before I dont know you, and you could be a great guy, but it seems your business practices are suspect to say the least.

On a side note I am very pleased you decided to join in on the conversation. As I said before, if this were my business I would have been here long ago. Maybe you can look at whats happening, and try and change the ways you conduct your business for the better. And again if this did take place over christmas I am very sorry for assumeing the worst.

Im done with this thread, and as long as I dont see your name pop up again, you will not hear me bashing you. That being siad should another thread pop up, I cant say I wont add my two cents good or bad. And now that you found your way to responding here, hang out its a good crowd. However please refrain from sending me private emails. If you wish to communicate with me do it openly on the forum.

Where am I wrong other then the Tampa thing?

How does this change the facts?

Funny now your tone has changed. But lets get back to the facts. What has happened with the egytian deal. Prove to me I was wrong in my opinions there.

Next maybe you should lay out the exact time frame if I am wrong. Defend yourself.

What day were the animals purchased on
What day were the animals shipped
What day was the first complaint sent to you
What day did you respond to the complaint

Next how did the egytian get the scars. Youve had weeks to come up with the excuse what is it? The buyer was lead to believe the animal was a perfect, captive bred egytian, that was KEPT ALONE its entire life. Now if that were the case, it would not have arrived needing care from a vet. Now we can argue about the vets care, and if that lead to the death, but again if the animal were PERFECT as you said it would still be alive. Next you claim you will help with vet bills, but that hasnt happened either as far as Im aware.

Next Did you tell the egytian buyer that they Killed the animal. Did you blame a customer who you had sold a flawed animal for its death?

This next question is for Bruce. Would you please also answer as many of the questions above as you can that pertain to your deal, dates, times, ect.

Also Bruce, the minute you opened the box, were you happy with the animals you recieved? Not days later, but the first hour what was your gut feeling about the animals you were sent?

Now Rian, prove me wrong or your accusers wrong, and I will eat up that crow, but for now I am going to hold my ground on my opinions of you and your business.

All right Rian, now you are going to piss me off. I clearly asked you to address this publicly with me if you had something to say to me. I TOLD YOU NOT TO EMAIL ME. Well whats this your new email

I was not at the show, one of my friend went and put his beautiful captive animals at a table that we reserved for him his set up was respectable and clean. (he can't afford some of the more expesive displays) Is he a BAD GUY for that?

Tone changed about what?

Egyptian deal? The animal was in perfect shape when it left and when it arrived that is why he wouldn't ship it back he refused because he loved the animal. I don't know what happened to it, but it took a month to die and even then they sacked it. THAT IS THE DUMBEST THING YOU CAN DO! so how bad can the animal have been??? over a month to die. I told the kid send it back, send it back, send it back. Why didn't he? Because the animal was drop dead gorgeous! He wanted the animal even with the so called scratches. How could I get an adult import from Egypt? Your proving your a fool and without knowledge or experience. The only animals coming out of Egypt are via europe as captive bred and they must be very young this animal was over 2 foot long. I don't have the fogiest idea how the animal got scratches on it but it was so ugly and beat up that he refused to ship it back! Are you grasping this or is hate and judgement for others all you see? Now you privately call the kid and ask him how the situation ended up and see if you still hold your view. (((that is between me and him))) and why don't you think you heard from him lately. It's called professional courtesy. He has more class than you. If you read my open letter it was stated that "I thought he was only interested in the money but I stated I was wrong" read it and learn the facts.

And stop airing your filthy laundry in public by showing the people who use this site that you are an arrogant, self righteous, condesending young man and use this media for that which it was designed not your verbal bashing and ugly cop wanna be mentality. I'll give you my number call me talk to me ask me like a man and I will address you as a man but for now your are a boy with a kid's mentality and you will be treated as one.

First, my phone number is 402-934-9906. You have a problem you need to speak to me privately about real time you call me. Im not hiding, but Im not paying to speak to you either, call me cheap.

Next you are correct egyptians are not coming in currently. However this animal is well old enough to have been an import at one point. I did not say it was a fresh import. If you read one of my original statements on the first thread I said it was a shame as egyticus are becoming increasingly hard to come by, especially thoose with size. So I do have a bit of knowladge.

Next it may have taken a month (allthough I swear it was only two weeks) for that animal to die, but the problem was reported immediately.

Again I will state that you have not proven me wrong, I hold my opinions, and if I were a person in the market for any animal you advertise, I would not buy from you no matter the price. I would also continue to suggest it would be a safe course of action for others to do the same.

Rian you can think what you want, and call me what you will. I do understand that my statements on this forum can in some peoples eyes make me look a fool, but I doubt its many. I also know I take a profesional risk every time I post on this forum. Possible coustomers could read into my posts as me being arrogant, ect. However I would argue that I only try and veiw each situation as if I were in the buyers and sellers shoes. I understand coustomers are not the easist people to deal with, but it truely seems to me you are not skilled in doing soo.

I will close with I am finished, my views on you and your business are clear. If you wish to call me feel free to, however you not likely to change my opinions. All be well aware I am not always so nice, so if you ruffle my feathers be prepaired to meet the more street side of my personality, profanity and all. I only say this as I know you are sensative to language. And I am known to be a bit of a foul mouth when I dont think before I speak. Be warned.

Lastly please stop emailing me, I dont care to read private messages from you.

Forgot to hit a few points

First if you have taken care of the egytian deal, then thats great. However I dont think its a profesional courtosey if you did take care of it. I think it was an obligation you had to your coustomer. Also I cant help he didnt come here and update us that he was taken care of. Had he I would have publicly commended you for doing what was right.

Second I have stated, and will state again I have not and will not read your open letter. Im not interested in going to your site.

This is a public forum/ community. I frequent this site, and if I find a post I feel I can add to I make my comments. That is what this site is designed for. I do not come here to shop. I do not go to links to other web pages from this site. I come to this site for this site, period. As such I let my views be know based on the statements made on this site, or more often off of experiences Ive had with the persons involved. Seeing as your case was one where I knew no one, my only intention was to try and get to the bottom of the issue. Luna used to do this job, and boy at this point am I missing him. I have nothing to gain by bashing you, and dont get any pleasure out of it. However I am one of the growing number of people who are getting fed up with many of the sick things that occour in this industry. Are you the blame, no. Are you likely part of the problem, well it sure seems that way from my end. Now if you did fix YOUR mistakes, great. Thats what this site is for, and that was the intention of me chimming in with my "childish" comments.

I would like to ask a few of the other regulars, was I childish? If so I will appologize, but it sure seems to me Ive tried to be as fair as possible on this and the other thread. I may be opinionated, but I feel Im fair.

Like Mickey, I am not going to go to any other site to find facts that should be posted here. There are two threads about you here rian, not somewhere else so if you want to respond to them here is the place to do it if you want to get the word out about what kind of guy you are.

So far you have stepped up to the plate twice, swung twice and missed by a mile twice.

The facts if you please. When and where did the egyptian come from, how long did you have it and did you ever even see it before it was sold. Same for the ornates.

I've never seen a captive raised much less captive bred uro that looked like that one did. I haven't seen pictures of the ornates but would like to.

So, post your info here, not in private emails or phone calls, right here where there is a permanent record and let us see what kind of person and business you are.

Have you taken care of the vet bills or portions thereof like you promised? What do you plan to do about the reputation you are building for yourself?

First off I am not going to say anything about Rian as I have never met him but Underground Reptiles was at the Tampa show. Greg and his wife were the Vendors running the tables as they do at all shows the Underground Reptiles participates in. According to Greg and his wife they are Co-Owners in the business Underground Reptiles. So Rian If what Greg has said for a few years that I have known him and his wife they are co-Owners in the business and are not as you put it Friends that you helped out by letting them set up at the show as they can not afford the expensive tables. So if Greg and his wife are telling the truth about their involvement in the business than you just lied in your e-mail to Mickey about who was running your tables.

Also Mickey,

Underground's tables were on the left side, last row, end cap (as you walk in the front door). When Greg and his Wife do the shows their animals look great and their presentation and overall professionalism is good. Now as I said I have never met nor dealt with Rian but only dealt with Greg and Lia.

Ok well I was going to quit posting, but I want to make sure I have a few things right. If so then I need to appologize for the tampa statment atleast, but nothing else.

So Rob, you say they were front left end cap. So they were across from Armstrong, and Crypruss Creek. Left of Industrial if you were looking from my table.

If so then that is not and was not the table I was thinking of. That table looked just fine, allthough I didnt pay much attention to it personally. I was wrong for that statement.
