    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

what the %$#@ $400 for an APTOR

I just think it is impossible to predict the market on leopard geckos, even with a concerted effort to control the market by the few people that first have a morph. If you have to corner the market, in my opinion you must keep all of your new morph and hets completely for yourself, and you must be the original breeder.

Even then, there is a big chance that someone will develop a morph that causes the first one to be less desirable. It is scary to predict pricing when I hear that some leo breeders have thousands of breeders.

You seem to have an issue with people. You call Vince a "troll" for making a joke about only needing $150 for a project... YOU WERE OUT OF LINE! You get a ding from me on your "reptutation" for making a such a snide remark and suddenly feel you need to ding me back? You would have received alot more from me simply due to your title of this thread if I was the webmaster... grow up.

and of course i was being sarcastic. I'm sure at some point the new morphs will level out in price. 400 dollars seems a high and reasonable price for a new leo morph. You guys that breed a lot of these geckos should be very happy with that sort of price tag for the next few years.

didnt mean to hurt your feelings . I had no idea this was so "touchy". I figured everyone predicted a price drop just like with albinos.

and I agree, the troll remark and such was out of line. in some cases it is obviously deserved. he simply stated he put back some cash for some animals next year, granted i think it was an extreme and rude exaggeration, but so be it. a 'troll' holds a different definition... no big deal tho. We all know vince loves stepping into snow and hi end morph discussions to let us all know how he diagrees with how much they cost but I think everyone has gotten used to it by now and does not pay much mind to him. let it go... :)

frankly i think anyone will price something they own or produce any way they see fit. they want to prioce an aptor at $400? let them. want to price out ten at $400 each, let them. you have nothing to worry about. the DRASTIC price drops occur when breeders continuously try to undercut each other and intentionally drive pricing down. besides... I dont see this happening. Just take the macks for instance. I've seen a few people out there trying to sell codoms considerably lower than the current trend and guess what? they arent selling. why? because they simply are not reputable. people would rather pay a little bit more and know what they are getting is the real deal.

as for the $400 aptor from shelly, im sure she has her reasons for such a drastic difference in price. perhaps she had a surplus. perhaps she needs some quick cash.... who knows, who cares. it does not affect you until you begin letting it.

as for the arguments..... give it a break guys. its gettin old.

Vince , I appologize , it just seems as though you are trying to irritate people in some of your posts . Others have called you on the same type of comments . Its not as if this is a first . Allthough sarcasm does not bother me , I have seen a few get "trolled" by your posts ,whether you meant to or not thats what it is called . Just my opinion .

You were the one that started throwing accusations about pricing "you are doing the same thing" (or something to that effect) , now you want to "ding" me for making a "bad post" , i will return the favor on your VERY uncalled for statement .

Just in case anyone missed ,this was where Gene stated $400 for a 15 g. APTOR is "just about the same" as me charging $350 for a 15g. Het APTOR.

Um Hello the Hets were $375 !!!! What if you couldnt even get $250 for your Hets Gene because an APTOR is $400 all of a sudden ? Not what you planned right ? And it would suck Right ? It does suck and thats all i ever said But you wanna get smart with me "whats your gripe" remember that ? Same as would be your gripe . You wanna talk down to me , then it is you who has some issues ! Last i talked to you , you were very nice and even supportive ...So what is this all of a sudden ?

It was very rude and uncalled for saying that im doing anything remotely similar to an APTOR for $400 . I had a 15 g. animal for sale that happened to have darkened . So how could anyone expect to get $375 + shipping for a dark APTOR Het ?. Now there are Albinos 100% Het RAPTOR for $400 to figure into pricing . So i went with $350 shipped to start , now up to $375 shipped .

No difference at all . Oh yea, this thread title was edited but for whatever reason the site does not want to cooperate .

Get it right if you are going to "quote" me! :bleep: ... I still stand behind it because the albino het APTORs from Tremper were $475 and $500. The "normals" were $375 and $400. You were :bawling: over nothing was my point then and thats what it is now.

With that said, come on down sometime... we can enjoy some beers! :beer:
 
I'm always forgetting the money some of you guys have involved in these projects. While it might not be a big deal to me if someone starting selling aptors for 100 bucks it would be bad business for the rest of the breeders. I really don't fell bad about stating my opinion on the prices and looks of some morphs but Im sure I have crossed the line and offended or upset people directly involved with breeding and marketing them. I am sorry for that.
 
not at all bud..... i've learned you dont think of these things when making those comments. sometimes people simply get stuck on one particular view and dont factor in other aspects.. no big deal. im sure if i was a keeper id probably think along the same lines as well.... pricing on SOME of these morphs is based on more than just looks though. it has a great deal to do with potential for future morphs as well. with that factored in im sure you can see why some of these morphs may not look like they deserve the hefty pricetag, but don one anyways.....

Aren't you the same one who tried to convince most everyone on here you had a RED leo for sale, but it was actually an altered pic ? Or am I confusing names...

The market for Leos seems to be for the gambler....It is my second year and I am still just sitting back and watching it. I have produced some nice Leos this season bu thave no idea how to price them out. I know what I bought the parents for awhile ago but those prices dont hold for today's market.
I'm not in it just for the money but I do intend to profit from it, if even a little. I get alot of enjoyment from the little beasties but upkeep costs for my "hobby" have converted it to a small business....

My plans are to one day be able to compete with the big boys (and girls) out there with the $1500 morphs....but for now I am content with producing nice looking, healthy Leos. It would be nice to break even too:)

Dont sweat it Vince , I personally think the best of the best should not exceed $500 but im not in control of what someone feels is "market" price and DO pay well over that for breeders . Beleive me i wish i could buy for less too and sell for prices within the reach of more keepers , but at the same time drastic drops could affect other sellers in the biz in a negative way ,which is not something im looking to do . Have to try to work together instead of compete . So you`ll need just a BIT (LOL) more time and patience for a project like that .Sorry .

Not trying to argue , but please look at the APTOR story . where it says the "female hets ($375)will be available later " (not in those exact words ) The ($375) part was there recently and has been since the start . If youde like ill dig up the receipts even ! LOL

But the APTORs(most of them) were $750 and the Hets half of that $375. Why would a Het be nearly $500 and an APTOR only $750
