In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Why All The Hate Toward Reptiles By Mack?

the lizards that got loose being 'caught' via glue traps is so sad. So many things in that video are sad. :( thanks for sharing the link and bringing this to light.

Wow, there is no excuse for any of that. Blame his employees? That is called passing the buck. Which in this case falls flat with all the damning video footage. The owner absolutely knew about the condition of the animals and the common practices of his employees. They should be shut down and the owners charged with felony animal cruelty. Absolutely unexcusable. There should be manditory minimal jail time for cruelty on this level. All for money.

Sorry but I have little tolerance for lazy, uncaring, employees.
*If* that is how the employees are then, yes, they are a part of the problem.
That said, everything still falls on the owner's shoulders. The owner is the one who needs to take steps in rectifying any problems in his/her business.

....

I missed the part of the video that shows the employees being lazy. The hypothetical "blame the lazy employees" story is an attempt to steer blame away from the owner and management. That theory doesnt fly without proof. What a shame.

In the video, there is at least one employee that exhibits little care.
However, correct, laziness is hypothetical. Hence, the reason for my "*If*".
Also, I know that I am not steering the blame away from the owner. If you read a little more (or comprehended what I wrote), you would see that I place all/primary blame on the owner.

....

Hey ReptilesByMack care to explain yourself?

Try being a gun dealer and blaming "lazy employees" if your 4473's and bound books are a mess. ATF will not care, your name is on the business and the license, you are on the hook.

Try dealing in goods or services regulated by ITAR, export them, and blame "lazy employees" for not catching that there was no government approval. DHS will not care, your name is on the business and the license, you are on the hook.

Blaming "lazy employees" because animals under your care, custody, and control live in disgusting conditions is a cop-out. Your name is on the business, you are on the hook.

The PETA-philes have targeted animal wholesalers in the past, both in and out of the reptile industries. In my opinion reptile wholesalers are going to become a bigger target over the next few years as one of PETA's goals is a complete ban on exotic pet ownership, period.

That was bad, and I can't stand PETA, but the conditions of those animals was horrible. I have bought 1 animal from a wholesaler and regretted it, so I have never done so since. Mack, as others have stated, what do you have to say?

You are ultimately responsible for your employees whether you are a manager or the owner of a company. You cannot blame employees for this. That did not go on unnoticed by the owner. Mack should be shut down for this abuse.

There is too much about blaming employees.
Is it that Mack (owner) blamed his emplyees and takes no responsibility?

....

Deb, you and Steve are the one's suggesting the employees are to blame by either laziness or not caring. Each time you have posted in this thread you have offered a different subjective variable that aims to fault the employees not the owner. Now you blame the owner. We get it. Hey John your still camped out in this thread. Anything you want to explain? Or maybe an apology to the reptile community?

Regarding this thread, I would like to add to it by sharing my own experiences. I purchased a leopard gecko from their Reptique portion of their site I believe March of last year. She was an albino patternless eclipse. She was promptly shipped and arrived in perfect condition and has been thriving ever since. I was very happy with the transaction.

On the other hand, I have worked at a pet store for which they are our supplier. This past winter there were at least three shipments where we had multiple reptiles arrived dead, obviously due to improper shipping practices. They were shipped on days that were much too cold and with insufficient heat packs. Despite my previous positive experience, due to these instances I would have dropped them as the store's supplier if I had been in the position to. I personally will not be purchasing from them again.

Pffft. Lost cause.

You guys seem to be missing the point, this video could have been made at ANY wholesale facility. It's just how they're run. You can take it out on Reptiles by Mack because they were specifically mentioned here, but the truth of the matter is that this is one example of many. I challenge you to go to ANY wholesaler's facility and find animals in proper conditions and not find dead animals in almost every enclosure. It's sad but true, that's why you shouldn't buy from them.

Maybe you missed the part in the video were you can the the employee wearing Reptiles By Mack t-shirts? Or you missed were John Mack was viewing this thread for the better part of an hour and said nothing? That speaks volumes to me.

I never took blame off of John Mack, I simply said his employees should also be at fault for neglecting to properly care for all those animals.

People looking to purchase a healthy quality animal should always seek out a breeder rather than purchasing something from a pet store, flipper or wholesaler.

I don't think you read my whole post. I'm aware this was at Mack's facility, but again, this is how things are run at all wholesalers. They just don't care.

My apologies Nick. I hate to see any group of businesses pigeon holed because of the nature of their work. It seems like this video is going to be another black eye for our community. Hopefully John Mack chimes in and explains what has been going on and what he plans to do about it.
