Well Seamus, hate to say it but I do think your right.
I went into the cage from the side of the animals today, lifted from under the body toward the tail, worked my way up to get a better support of the body and all I got were some hisses.
No lunging wild strikes and no flip over back at me to bite my face while I was holding them.
Then I made the mistake of attempting to remove some stuck shed from the male and he launched but missed.
Actually pretty easy to work with today. Almost too easy compared to the other day.
The reason I had restrained it before was because I had already taken a hit and I didn't want to get tagged again. For a thick large snake, these things strike fast.
