    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This is a copy of a post I did on Kingsnake "field collecting". It was removed. However, I made the same post on other forums and they havn't noticed yet but people are starting to respond. It's all pretty funny actually. I have been emailing back and forth a little with Gerry (Che Gerry!) to encourage him to come on over here and he has said he might check it out. I hope he comes and makes himself home here. Anyways, here is the post, which I copied here just in case they find them all over on Kingsnake. lol.

Gerry being banned was really the last straw for me as I was getting tired of the censorship here. I chose to post the
name of a website here that is an alternative and was promptly banned.

I have been very proud to be associated with the Herpetological community all these many years and have personally felt a deep
kinship with that community. The herpetology community has always been known for their independent thinking, their creativity and curiousity. I think it fair to say that we can all relate to the rebellious side of human nature as it takes a good bit of willingness to rebel against many societal norms in general just to participate actively in herpetology. Face it, we are different and I've always been proud of that and of us.

Kingsnake was once a place where this type of creative and independent thinking and socializing was welcome and encouraged. But something has changed here. I cannot in good conscience constructively participate in a forum that is so autocratic that it no longer tolerates the types of personalities and communications that made herpetology what it is today. I will however being looking to volunteer on an alternative site that I don't want to mention here just yet because I want this post to be here for at least a little while.

Thankyou to everyone here who has been my friend and shared opinions and information openly and honestly.

Reap what they sow etcetera, etcetera... Allow lunatic animal rights activists with totalitarianistic views some power and it quickly alienates the user base. Alienate the user base and the ad money starts to disappear as more people leave in disgust.

Since it's likely that someone will send this to him if he doesn't read it himself...

Good job Jeff, you sure know how to run a company.

You have allowed people to run your website and you have made personal decisions about how you treat your customer base that amount to suicide for the success you thought you were enjoying...

The conduct of Jeff Barringer and the KS Moderators is to internet herpetology what Willie Horton and Dukakis were to the Democrats... except Internet herpetology actually has some slight intrinsic value to start... Bah! It's late, it's the only analogy I've got.
 
I have teetered back and forth about kingsnake.com over the past few months. I liked the site very much, but certainly did not like how restrictive that site was, in my opinion, becoming. After being made aware, tonight, of the new banning, and post deletions on the Field herping Forum over at kingsnake.com, I again started to think that it may be time to call it quits with using that site. I must admit that John Albrecht's posting was an inspiration, so much so that I too have pulled the plug on kingsnake.com.

I will miss posting there, but will make up for that here. Hopefully all the people whom are being banned over there will move over here and bring their groupies with them! Do herpers have groupies? Well if we do, that could only be a benefit to this site.

I will is that site, but I surely think I can live without it, so long as FaunaClassifieds.com is alive and well. (Did you notice, I could actually post the words FaunaClassifieds.com in my post - what a relief from what I believe were the oppressive restrictions at the other site!)

WHY is this all taking place in the Field Collecting Forum? Why there of all places? Put on your thinking cap!

Jeff is a conniver (is that spelled right?) of the highest order. Take a look at his band of merry moderators, especially your fav that Kaplan girl. Which of all the forums on that site would rankle their craw more than anything else? Right!! The Field Collecting Forum!! Why? Because they are bunnie and tree huggers and this one forum is a toe stubber for them in their perfect world.

It's a setup. I believe someone just walked into the trap they had waiting for him. Certainly the people chose to be beta testers were'nt just plucked out of a hat. So pick people whom it is likely may have a gripe, and be certain they would most likely post it in a forum most wanted to be deep sixed, and how many birds are you killing with that stone? Get rid of an eye-sore forum, make the moderators ecstatic (have you seen the writeups on that crew? BTW PHScales - don't blame the camera for that bad photo!), scare the rest of the troops into towing the line, and generally give Jeffie a big boner about how tough he is and able to hurt people at will.

I think Jeffie has smoked just too many bananas in his long hair days. And it's all coming to roost now. Nerd boy gets a little fame and power and the residual drugs kick in and he loses it. Nobody even wanted to talk to him before his kingsnake.com days so now it is payback time, eh Jeffie?

Aw heck, I deleted some of this stuff. It was too radical, even for me!

The funny thing is, in the tortoise forum, a moderator was asking people what they thought of the new setup. And a guy gets banned for mentioning the same thing? Whatever!
I'd like to thank Glenn for mentioning me in his goodbye post. But not to worry, I like this site a lot better, so you can look forward to my sparkling wit here in the future. The only thing keeping me looking at kingsnake is some of the great people at the venomous forum. I wonder if they'll go after that one next? After all, it's cruel to have a pet you can't nuzzle and cuddle and call 'fluffy boo boo'. But overall I would do ok without them and their completely outrageous classified charges.

If someone points out an error a moderator makes. it gets deleted.
If people bring up issues the moderator's do not like. it gets deleted.

I actually posted F A U N A C L A S S I F I E D S . C O M in a post at kingsnake.com last night, on the Field Collecting Forum _ I think. Trouble is now I cannot find it. I would have sworn I made two posts there but now I can only find one of them. Maybe the Deletion Fairy has been at work.

As to my farewell message on the other three forums, well I figured I would like to let other users have a chance to read it and knew if I blatantly posted the faunaclassifieds name it would be deleted quickly. The way I did it, it has not been deleted yet, and hopefully some of the kingsnake.com users can read the secret code and follow it to this site thereby winning the prize of just being here as opposed to kingsnake.com.

It looks as if kingsnake.com is really pressing their luck this time. I doubt they will close down, but do not doubt that they are going to loose users in the forums. If they come this way I am betting it would be good for Rich's business as they may bring some advertisers with them. My guess is that most of the people they loose will be from older teens up through adults _ I am pretty certain that some of the banned were adults judging by past posts of theirs.

I will be emailing anyone I can from among forum users at kingsnake.com and telling them about this site. I don't have all that many email addresses but I figure every bit will help. I may even email some of kingsnake.com's advertisers (the ones I have shopped before) and ask for their price lists explaining that I will no longer be looking for their ads on kingsnake. I may also explain where they can find me here at this site, that is unless Rich voices opposition to that.


As far as your posts go, you may have hit it on the head - maybe the moderators at ks will be soon telling people exactly what to put into their posts!

I suspect Jeff will ultimately bring down a few forums over there sometime soon. About a year or so ago he brought down the "Gray Banded Kingsnake" forum for much less of a dispute and we all know how dear to his heart that one is. In fact, he is showing off his new mainpage to people in that forum right now.
The volume of dissent is such that I just can't imagine moderators having enough time to chase it all down for deletion.
I tried to leav posts on a couple of the forums I frequented about what was going on and the responses were pretty supportive. I did this first as the new user "banned" and then as "bannedagain".
At this point it seems like those who have been banned, some multiple times, and those who are supportive of those who have been banned are pretty shell-shocked and disorganized.
I really feel like I've lost my favorite restuarant or coffee shop. I've come to the conclusion that whining about what was and what could have been is just a complete waste of time. What we really need is to concentrate on building a new community. I think we need to decide what we want in the form of an alternative and we need to have some kind of general agreement on how it is organized. I'm not sure that it is fair for us to all come here to Rich's site hoping for something to automagically appear that will replace what we had. The first thing I think we need to do is to have a general discussion thread for the purposes of describing what we really want. We also will need people to make commitments to support and help facilitate that discussion. Anything worth having is going to take effort and time from more people than just Rich.
