In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Ben Siegel Reptiles

Ben, if I win an auction, could you just send me 3 snakes for free and save me the trouble of starting a boi thread?

frequncey

@Black Blood - If you watch his auctions, He has bloods at least 3 times a week.

I have purchased 4 animals from ben, 2 Red Tegus, a Leopard tortoise and a 100% het pied ball python. Over the coarse of about 2-3 years, I have never had any trouble with him (had some shipping issues but caused by UPS) I feel that offering to give you auction credits and keep the snake is a better deal than anyone would ever give you. I understand wanting money back, but you could get at least 1 more animal for the $120 he would have givin you back.

But hey just my 2 cents.

This is purely an information only thread, not a bad guy! It gives those who bid on auctions the choice to bid and or not to bid.

I am an ebay junkie, love the thrill watching an item and pouncing at the end, that being said, I would be fairly pissed if I received a less than par item. Live animals are not held to the same standard as a door knob or a whatchamacallit.

Take this as a lesson learned and just move on. At least you have a snake that you wanted and not a mis sexed or skinny critter. Harry Potter has a scare just like the one in the books!

The purpose of these BOI threads is for people to share their experiences be it negative or positive with the rest of us. It's crazy how so many people in these threads are quick to jump on the OP's. I wonder how many folks seeing this refrain from sharing any negative experiences they may have had with the rest of us because of this.

I have done business with the OP of this thread, and she was nothing but professional and efficient. As for Ben being upset because she posted on her personal Facebook page about her experience (and did not post his name publicly at that point), that is rediculous. I've seen people post WAY more personal issues on these social networking sites. That's the point isn't it? And MAYBE she took it down because Ben verbally assaulted her on the phone once he finally decided to personally pick up the phone and speak to her? Did anyone consider that?

She was not wanting a complete refund for the animal like alot of folks here are assuming. From what I understand, she wanted a refund for the cost of the animal, excluding shipping, since it was mis-represented, and showed up with an injury.

That whole cop out as to why no one saw the decent sized wound is rediculous. Yeah, I can see how aggressive and viscious that baby blood python is in the multiple pics she took of him in her hand!!! Really? The whole "bloods are evil" stereotype huh? LOL.

Anyhow, to the OP, I am sorry you had a shitty experience. It could have been handled to a higher standard of professionalism.

This is why you go to professional breeders such as VPI or thebloodline.net for example and not people that peddle hundreds of sub-par animals left and right.

He offered her a full refund and a shipping label to send the snake back but she turned that down.

So that was the only thing you could find in my entire post to dispute? LOL I love when that happens. Towards the end of the situation yes, he sent a shipping label and said for her to ship the animal back for a refund. At that point, she opted not to do so, as she chose to just keep the animal, get it healed, and not stress the poor thing any further.

If you actually read further into this thread, you will see that she stated she does not want any compensation at this point, she just wanted to share her experience that was negative on here as is the purpose of the BOI.

Oh no I could dispute many things you wrote but I'm talking on the phone at the moment and don't feel like taking the time to type it all out. I 100% feel she was trying to take advantage of Ben she wants to keep the snake and also wants all her money back...yeah that's not fair.

Well I think Ben has done something for her but I don't know what yet. Seems she must have taken some type of compensation.

you have all the facts---she was offered fair and more then full compensation. She was ABSOLUTELY NEVER yelled at , cursed at and yes--several phone call attempts were made that she did not answered until the final one where we left off she was going to think about what was going to make her happy. I guess starting an info thread that was meant to be an underhanded bad guy thread. But someone made a good point, she has done more to damage her own rep then mine. I never stated she was mean or nasty--I thought she was pleasant in person--pleasant enough to hand her $65 for an item that she was going to make for me, wait a few weeks with no problem and never once question her integrity. She gets a snake from us--has an issue and has it posted up saying she is going to out us and blow the lid right off this HUGE SCANDAL----the free snake free money scandal. LISTEN--i have nothing to hide there. We are not trying to push the blame off on her for anything. We never questioned her--our first response to her was to accept full responsibility. Period.

and you are correct. I actually refunded her money hours ago. All of it. While people were still arguing on hear about how much she should get and what the right thing to do--her paypal had already been returned. And it is not because i think it was the right thing to do. It is because I do not want her money. I think what she did at the least was a nasty attack on our character and possibly as many are speculating an attempt at trying to get her money and her snake. Either way--I dont care. She treated us unfairly. AND JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW---i was her customer before she was mine for pretty close to the same dollar amount. So you see how I treat my customers----and you see how she treats hers.

You are very correct in what the BOI is for. But dont think for a second that the original poster is not going to be scrutinized as well. People get to see both sides and weigh things out.
She posted her story for all to see. Ben has every right to explain his side. You dont have to like it just like everyone does not have to agree with the OP.

Did you read the thread ? She wanted a partial refund by paypal " auction rules are there for a reason"
Ben offered her a FULL refund if she returned the snake or a FULL refund of auction credit and KEEP the snake. What the hell else do you want the man to do ?
Also, this all happened in one day. Do you think maybe trying to actually resolve the issue before threatening to file with paypal and post it up would have been a reasonable thing to do ? Nothing the OP has done has been reasonable so why not call her out on it ? The auction has rules ,pure and simple. If you dont like the rules then dont buy . Something came up and Ben bent over backwards to remedy the situation but nothing he could do made her happy.
I give him credit, after the threats made I would have told her to go pound sand but thats not the kinda guy he is.

"People that peddle hundreds of sub-par animals" ? Pretty easy to make statements about someone you have obviously never done business with before. We have , ALOT !
Wow, wonder why so many people come to the defense of someone who peddles sub-par animals.

I was going to have her make a custom necklace for me but not now, my money will be spent elsewere. I can't believe she accepted your money and is keeping the snake as well. :ack2:

Shows alot about her character. I would not feel right keeping the snake and getting a full refund. Karmas a bitch.

I think we all know that in any business, there is going to be good and bad. I myself work in retail, and know that amongst all the good experiences and happy customers, there are going to be mistakes and those who disagree with how you run things and complain.

The rules are clearly stated on his page. If you don't like those rules, buy your animals elsewhere. period. It is unfortunate that the snake was injured. However, the issue was not ignored and was attempted to be solved in a timely fassion. And the options given to resolve the issue were beyond resonable.

It is rediculous for anyone to expect Ben or Stacey, or anyone who is employed by them, to wait on you hand and foot and do whatever it is you request. THEYRE BUSY! I'm sure if you placed yourself in their shoes, it would be impossible for you to inspect each and every animal for flaws.

I have purchased blood pythons, leopard geckos, crested geckos, gargoyle geckos and spiders from Ben Siegel Reptiles. All of which are healthy, well established animals. And I have never been more pleased with ANY other reptile breeder/distributor. Amongst all the individuals I've done business with in the reptile hobby, Ben has been one of the most reliable, educated, and reputable businessmen in the industry.

When I was looking for a specific crested gecko morph, they worked with me to find the animal that would make me happy. They didn't have the time to take photos for me, I understood, but instead they brought multiple animals to a reptile expo so I could choose the ones I wanted.

I've also been into their store, where they were more than happy to take the time and show me all the animals I was interested in. They even took me into the back of the store to find what I was looking for, because it wasnt on display in the front. All of my questions were answered, and if they couldn't be answered, they found someone who was more educated in that area.

I have never had a bad experience. And even if I do come across a bump in the future, I will continue to purchase from Ben Siegel Reptiles. Because the positive experiences I've had will far outweigh any negatives!

I feel Candace was offered a fair deal on the return/replacement/refund in which ever way she chose. The scar/wound I feel should of been mentioned in the auction, or been somewhere around a $40 slam deal. As far as the texting or attitude issue, I think she brought it on herself by posting on facebook. She should of never said to pm her for the sellers name, unless Ben did nothing to fix the situation.

As a matter of fact, I HAVE indeed done a single business transaction with Ben in the past. And it went just fine! My opinion here was very un-biased, and was based off of what was laid out before me here in this thread.

Depends on what YOUR interpretation of sub-par is. ;-)

I am entitled to my opinion here just as everyone else is.

Ben, I think you did the right thing. You offered her a refund, you offered to take the snake back, what else could she possibly ask for?

You can't please everyone, buddy. Some people just want to go out looking for drama and trouble to wallow in.

Well lets see, we have animals from Graziani and a few other high end breeders. The animals we have from Ben are in no way of lesser quality . We have also bought some of his fresh imports years ago. They have turned into stunning snakes . Is that what your suggesting ? That he sells imports ?

How can you state he sells "hundreds" of sub-par animals ? Thousands of happy buyers are lying ?

Same here! :iagree:
A very close friend of mine has won numerous auctions from Ben and can not be more pleased with the beautiful, quality animals they have received. Keep up the good work Ben!
