In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Ben Siegel Reptiles

I wasn't going to bother posting, because my opinion is the same as several others, Ben's a decent guy, never had an issue with Ben or any of his guys, and the OP shouldn't have expected TOS to be broken, shouldn't have expected a refund and to keep the animal, etc.

But she kept saying stuff about Ben not calling, if Ben had only called, etc. Then later, she admits that Ben DID try to call, and she simply didn't answer. Crying or not crying, she lied about Ben not trying to call her.

She posted a bunch of nonsense about how horrible the company was, despite not posting his name, she said she WOULD tell anyone who PMed her the name, so same difference. She was bashing someone publicly, when they were bending over backwards trying to make her happy.

I personally would never do business with her. I don't need to be handing over my hard-earned animals/product for free along with getting bashed while doing so.

And I've bought from Ben before(haven't won an auction yet) but I've never sold an animal to him. He declined to buy any of the animals I had available, yet he did so in such a polite and professional manner that there was no hint of hard feelings possible. Even when the tables have been extremely busy, if I waited until someone was free and got waited on as if I were a $10K customer. They've never acted like "know-it-alls" to me, in fact, I taught a couple of them about a reptile sexing thing at the table(even though I'm far from an expert at ANY species yet).

I would totally believe that Ben(or anyone else) can have a bad day, or have a button that might make him 'go off' a bit on something that he really despises. Seeing mites on available animals can make some keepers go nutso. Hearing about PETA/HSUS makes me crazy. Everyone seems to have a personal button. Doesn't make him a bad person, it makes him human.

To end... I don't think Ben is some reptile god, or the be-all/end-all of reptile selling. But he IS a great guy, he DOES have great animals, and he and his crew have always been really nice when I've stopped to chat or asked about any animals.

My personal opinion. I think ben shiped a perfect snake and she already had an ijured one.
So she sends pics to ben to get sympathy and try to scam my #1 hookup.

That is just rediculous. Candance is a good person and just overreacted in this situation. Also you can CLEARLY see the wound on the animal of the photo that Ben took. So your theory is out... I think both parties were wrong in this situation. (Candace a little more than Ben) Ben sent out a wounded animal. (not sure how he could've missed it taking photos of the blood even given the fact they can be fiesty) One wonders how a snake aquires a wound like that...

Ben I think you did everything to make this right to Candace even more than you needed to, just don't let your snakes get chewed on by rodents!

Here's an unbiased opinion for ya, I've done business with NEITHER parties...

Ben messed up, and was immediately willing to fix the issue. That right there, says GOOD GUY to me. We are only human, people make mistakes. How does the saying go? Doesn't matter how many good transactions you have, it's how you handle the mess-ups. Ben, bravo, you went WAY above and beyond!

The rules for the auction are clear, Candace reacted poorly. Heck, if it had happened to me, being able to keep the snake AND get full credit toward another auction would have been outstanding, even if I wasn't looking for something right then and there, I'm sure something would have caught my eye eventually.

Candace, do the right thing here. Send the snake back, or at LEAST send half of the refunded money back to Ben.

Yup. She wants a free snake IMO. She doesn't seem to care much for having a good name, or being fair to other people.

Holy crap, this is one of the longest and most pointless threads in BOI history. I hate to be another Siegel cheerleader, but I will. Ben and Stacy have always treated me very well. If I send Ben a message on facebook or shoot him an email, I don't expect an immediate response because I am one of those amazing people that understands that he has a full plate. That being said, he has always (in my experience) communicated well and delivered extremely high quality animals.

Ben, congrats on handling this situation in a professional manner. You have way more patience than I could ever dream of.

I'm gonna make this as short and sweet as possible:

1- The poster had a right to be upset that her snake came in injured.
2-I don't think there's any excuse on how that snake got shipped out. Yes, things happen, but to me it was someone being careless.
3- The OP overreacted. If someone screws up, at least give them a reasonable amount of time to fix their mistake before going postal.
4- Ben tried to make this right, and I think that Candace took advantage of the situation.
5- Ben, you may want to amend your guarantee and stick something in there about injured animals, in addition to any DOA's. I'm not saying this happens often, but like I said- things happen. It will cover yourself. Just my .02 on that one.

Now, as for my personal opinion on Ben, and whether he is a good guy or bad guy? I have done business with him once. I won an auction, and things didn't go smoothly at all. There were miscommunication issues that resulted in me not even getting any tracking info on my animal. It did arrive alive and kicking, and after a few months is still doing awesome. I got a great deal, a beautiful animal, and instead of losing my cool and blasting him and his company all over the BOI, I wrote an e-mail expressing my displeasure with the customer service I received. I feel it was polite, and I was given what seemed to me to be a sincere apology. That was all I wanted. It was the way the situation was handled that mattered. Sometimes when you are in a bad situation, you have to be smart enough to take a step back, breathe, keep your cool, and make a rational decision as opposed to an emotional one. Overall Ben seems to have some awesome animals, but I just feel they are beyond the "family run small business" they try to portray themselves to be. It's great to move into the big time, but you have to be prepared for it. I think that they are creeping up that ladder into something bigger, and maybe more manpower or whatnot would help eliminate some small mistakes. I don't know how many people work for them exactly, but when I dealt with them I was given the impression there weren't many. I'm not putting him or his business down, just giving my opinion on what I have seen. In the end, I am more than happy with the blue tongue I won. He came beautiful, healthy, active, and quite the little piggy.

There were a few things done wrong on both sides. But at the end of it all, Ben stood up and did the right thing and Candace showed her true colors.
40 bucks, sheesh . Was it really worth it to sully your reputation ?

Keep in mind, the ONLY people who made up their minds that refunding some of the money back to Ben would be the best solution was the bystanders commenting in this thread. I was unaware that that suddenly made it the "right thing to do" to save one's reputation. I didn't know that in order to save your reputation you had to do what a few people on a forum are egging you on to do. Even though, Ben says he no longer wants her money. Remember???? Both parties have agreed to call this quits and have long since left this thread. And yet.... it's still going on because people who had nothing to do with the situation can't drop it??? NOWHERE did I see either party say they wanted that, or were going to do it. So why on earth is the peanut gallery sitting around, waiting for that to happen? So by all means, FORM YOUR OPINIONS, and move on already! In fact I am pretty sure Ben specifically stated, that he wants her to keep the money and be done with it. SO LET IT GO! :deadhorse

What world do you live in where you can buy something, complain about it and get your money back and keep the item you bought ?
It's about doing the right thing here. Ben has ,Candace has not.

I can tell you for a fact that I and plenty of other people would never do business with Candace because of seeing how she acted in this situation.
If you think for one second showing people on a public forum how you deal with things has nothing to do with your reputation you have alot to learn.

Why do you think she came to the BOI in the first place ? To just complain about her deal ? She could have done that on her facebook. She did it to try and diss Ben's business and have leverage over him. Didnt quite work out that way now did it ?

Unlike her "and you apparently" the court of public opinion actually has morals and does not agree with watching one person take advantage of another otherwise this thread would not be 16 pages long.
Last time I checked, it didnt take a bunch of people on a forum to decide what the "right" thing to do was. You would think it would be obvious to "most" people out there .

She needs to at least return the snake. Then she'll have her money and he'll have the snake.
