Reptster.com experience with show sponsorship not good

In the design/advertising field their is usually a 50% "kill fee" if a client no longer wishes to use services after a project has been started. Grant it, usually a client puts a 25-50% deposit down where some/all of that fee comes from, but that point is moot in this case. I believe at this point, Kelly is entitled to that 50% at a minimum.

I would also suggest keeping all further communication with David via e-mail so that you have proof of what was said.

When she first contacted me it was by phone and most of our dealings were by phone. I asked her the cost and she stated $250. She then sent me an email requesting 750. I called her back and explained that since she is a new show and especially on the same weekend as Chicago I would not pay that amount. I explained that we have done over 20 shows and 750 is crazy for this level. She then agreed to 250 again. But sent me an email at 750 AGAIN. I called her and had a long conversation explaining that I was not sure of her at all at this point due to her inability to stick to a price. She assured me that she would live up to the 250 and I said ok. I asked her to email me her address so I could send a check. I believe this was before Daytona but not really sure. She did send me the address and I did not get the check out that weekend. The next communication I received was an email on my PDA about getting the check out. I felt bad about the delay and stated I would get it out ASAP. When I got home and read the email on a full screen I realized she was asking for the 750 again. I called and left a VM stating I was severing all ties with her and would not do her show stating that something was not clicking.

The last two emails she posted were never received and may never have been sent. Or wait the they have the outlook tags so they must be real. Right?

In the five months since our launch we have provided excellent customer service and have provided the means to ship over 4000 animals without incident, and have saved this community over 18 thousand dollars to date. Actions speak louder than words.

A lot of you have started to bash us based on hear say and copy and pasted emails. All I can say is get a grip, come to the real world. You are not a judge and jury, you are acting on information that can be falsified from the ground up. There is no integrity in this.

And if you want to bash me and Reptster about how much time I have to devote here, have fun with it. Calls rather than emails about the price change? Even as a total newbie in the hobby, I know to get disagreements in writing to cover my own hind end.

The BOI may be a complete waste of time to some, but there are many potential customers who post here, and many, many more who lurk and read. After such a flippant post that didn't really prove anything other than that Dave has a sense of humor, and we waited over a day just for that, I for one will just go ahead and do my shipping through FedEx.

If this is the kind of response one can expect when engaging in a business relationship with your company I respectfully decline to utilize your services. I'd rather eat the cost I would save my customers myself rather than deal with someone who would take the time to muddy the waters over a business deal that could have been resolved with a couple of one or two sentence e-mails sent from your PDA (which I'm sure is never far from your side) before any work had been done regarding the show.

You do not hold the BOI in high regard; I can assure you the sentiment is mutual. You have shown your contempt and utter disregard for your fellows here.

Your lack of communication in this regard except to slap the faces of those who choose to utilize this Forum has made the decision not to utilize your services easy for me. Thank you.

As some of you see, I have been reading this reply. I assure you I am not ignoring Mr. Young's statements, but Matthew and I have decided that when he gets home from work tonight, we will sit together and make a statement to the validity of Mr. Young's claims. At this time, the only thing I will say is that we are disputing his claims completely.
If anyone does have any questions or concerns until our statement is made, I will answer them immediately as I see them, as I do not want anyone to think that we will be avoiding anything until our statement. Kelly is a new promoter so please don’t bash her for this. Although some of what she is doing is dishonest.

When she first contacted me it was by phone and most of our dealings were by phone. I asked her the cost and she stated $250. She then sent me an email requesting 750. I called her back and explained that since she is a new show and especially on the same weekend as Chicago I would not pay that amount. I explained that we have done over 20 shows and 750 is crazy for this level. She then agreed to 250 again. But sent me an email at 750 AGAIN. I called her and had a long conversation explaining that I was not sure of her at all at this point due to her inability to stick to a price. She assured me that she would live up to the 250 and I said ok. I asked her to email me her address so I could send a check. I believe this was before Daytona but not really sure. She did send me the address and I did not get the check out that weekend. The next communication I received was an email on my PDA about getting the check out. I felt bad about the delay and stated I would get it out ASAP. When I got home and read the email on a full screen I realized she was asking for the 750 again. I called and left a VM stating I was severing all ties with her and would not do her show stating that something was not clicking.

The last two emails she posted were never received and may never have been sent. Or wait the they have the outlook tags so they must be real. Right?

A lot of you have started to bash us based on hear say and copy and pasted emails. All I can say is get a grip, come to the real world. You are not a judge and jury, you are acting on information that can be falsified from the ground up. There is no integrity in this.

And if you want to bash me and Reptster about how much time I have to devote here, have fun with it. I have a two year old who is number 1, I have a website that is very demanding and I have UPS and the USPS code that we are working on 24/7 right now to make shipping even cheaper. Besides the fact that it took 24 hours before anyone even told me about this. Sorry I don’t check the boi ever.

That sure is what it looks like and I do not think I am alone in that impression.
People reserved judgement because you came on and said you would have proof. Most were willing to give you the benefit of the doubt until that proof was posted.

If you are so above Fauna an all of the people here apparently you do not mind if they don't utilize your business services either.

It's super easy to become Fedex approved on your own. You may pay slightly more because of volume discounts....but not that much more.

If approved by FedEx, we may accept non-venomous reptiles, amphibians, live/tropical fish and beneficial insects on an exception basis under the following conditions:

Shipments must be from a business to a business (from a breeder to a pet store, for example).
The shipper must have its packaging tested and pre-approved by FedEx Packaging Design and Development for the type of animal being shipped. Call 1.800.633.7019 for assistance. It is the responsibility of the shipper to adequately package shipments for all temperature extremes and handling conditions.

It took me like 2 weeks to get approved--they will even give you your "test box" back so you can ship in it. You just have to be sure to follow through---because you could slip through the cracks unless you get your local reps phone number.

YOU may not check the BOI. Now. However, considering the number of folks who do, I believe you will be back when this thread is widely read and people make business choices about YOUR business, as is their right, after reading it.

Will it be too late then? Depends. Lots of people in this biz want to hear how a business handles days and deals that don't go smoothly.

You seem to have chirped a few bravado words and gone on your way, and people want answers not chirps when they have issues. Those people might just decide that they don't want to risk their dollars to a business that doesn't know how to settle issues as they arise.

Good questions. All the terms are stated on the site on the same page as the video. You have all the same rights and rules as normal FedEx shipping. All areas that FedEx serves are open. If you would incur higher fees using FedEx you will incur them with us. YOU ARE STILL SHIPPING FEDEX. The difference is a year ago I went to them and stated I want free boxes for the entire community. I used the USPS/Ebay program as an example, you get a dollars worth of supplies to ship a five dollar package. They fought us for sometime but said ok under the terms that we pay for the boxes and get reimbursed when people ship off the FedEx/Reptster.com portal. We agreed and started programming immediately. Then I brought the concept of the video to them rather than requiring certification. We had to cover the cost of the video but they ok'd that also.
As for bringing all this up on an open forum. I don’t mind discussing this anywhere. Reptster Inc is a Florida corporation that has four programmers, me and a few others that it is responsible to. We are not a fly by night group, we are here to make a great place for the reptile community. We are only interested in providing services that the community will find valuable and will benefit from. And hopefully if we do that well enough the community will feel its worth advertising with us. If you have any doubts about the integrity of the FedEx program there are plenty of forums where people are talking about there great experiences thus far. Our forum has a few as does ball-pythons.net and a few others.

Yeah, you are well on you way now "earning the business of this community." No doubt about it....

I was seriously considering looking into Reptster for my own shipping, but after that tirade of yours, you can just FORGET about that happening, bud. I don't need to deal with someone who looks down their nose at the common folks and feels, like you in my opinion, to have gotten such a rock solid strangle hold on this industry that you can belittle and insult potential customers in public, and they have no recourse. That you are saving them money, so they will deal with you any way, regardless. Well personally, I don't care how much money you might save me, I don't need to, nor WANT to, give you one thin dime of my money.

You have made your attitude towards people here painfully obvious, which is pretty unbelievable considering that this site is heavily frequented by the very people you hope to base your business on. The attitude you display is uncomfortably similar to several other people who have passed through the BOI and found to not be what they at first presented themselves to be. I, personally, am taking this as a fair warning and heeding it as such.

I will not be so crass as to tell you to "go piss up a rope" as someone else did, but in all fairness, I do have to admit that I DID think exactly that as I was reading your eye-opening post.
