Reptster.com experience with show sponsorship not good

UPS company policy is to NOT ship snakes. However, FEDERAL LAW in the form of the Lacey Act requires packages containing snakes to have full disclosure of their contents noted on the box. Shipping a box that is NOT marked per the Lacey Act IS breaking the law. But if you properly mark your box to be legal within the law, then UPS will not accept it (due to their company policy of not shipping snakes).

As I, and Dennis, and now Bryon, and probably others before have said....while the general policy to the public is to prohibit these shipments, there ARE breeders who have indeed had accounts through UPS that DO allow for the LEGAL shipment of snakes through them.

And Tosha...tell me you didn't actually type that last load of garbage you posted with a straight face?? You have nothing, no shred of proof that Kelly has done ANYTHING dishonest, yet you keep insinuating she has somehow lied and defrauded poor David...DAVID AGREED HE OWED MONEY. Period. There is NO question as to whether he backed out of a contract. Not to mention all of the other issues that seem to be piling up...but hey, YOU don't need proof. Just everybody else that isn't on David's "side" does.

IMO - What it comes down to is lack of proof. Both parties have admitted that negotiations were held via phone and by doing so they both left themselves open for problems to occur. The e-mails do not mention a dollar figure or any mention of agreed upon services prior to it clearly being a problem.

Did you just skip right past the email where she xxx'd out the amount that he was already supposed to have sent, but left in the complete amount of $750? How about his response to that email, (the one with the complete dollar amount) via his BlackBerry stating a check was being sent? Did you catch that one? Or did you just breeze right by it?

Your arguments have no basis. He basically admitted it himself through his own email response. Go back and read it. Dennis even changed the color so it would stand right out there.

Rich Ihle shipped the Sabogaes we have via UPS under a shipping account. I received my boa from Jeff Ronne via UPS under his shipping account. I think Ronne has since moved to FedEx but for a cheaper rate due to his caging than anything else , not sure on Ihle. There has been more than a few breeders that have had reptile shipping accounts with UPS and used them to ship snakes with UPS having full knowledge of it. Before you go spouting " facts " try a little research first so they are facts.

I made a trade a few years ago and the box arrived via UPS and was clearly marked on it that it contained snakes. The box was shipped from Bob Clark. UPS makes exceptions.

And again, this has nothing to do with those few special people who made some kind of arrangement with UPS to ship snakes through them. I was talking about the vast majority of people using UPS to ship snakes--in packages not marked to contain snakes, or in some cases, even live animals.

If you cannot use UPS or DHL without failing to label what is in your box, then you cannot use them legally.

My point was that you have ONLY Fed Ex as an option to ship snakes to your door. ONLY Fed Ex will allow you to legally mark your box and still deliver the package within their TOS. UPS will not deliver a box marked to have a snake in it if they catch it, and neither will DHL. Yes, UPS will ship lizards--but not snakes.

I have a special contract with DHL to ship reptiles. My Uncle (who works for UPS) tells me that he can put me in contact with the appropriate individuals so that I can get a special shipping contract with them (though I have no desire to ship with UPS).

I wouldn't assume everyone shipping snakes via either of these methods is shipping "illegally" unless they are in fact not labeling properly.

He says she was all over the board with figures and services and she maintains it was the same price throughout – both saw the deal as the train wreck it was and yet no one bothered to put anything in writing and that is just bad business on both ends. In all honesty since we don’t see a dollar figure until too late in the game it really does bring into question if there was a set price or not. After-the-fact, one way emails don’t constitute proof – show me where he agreed to pay x amount, by what date, for what services and I’ll happily accept that.

This doesn't answer those questions I highlighted? She told him the price and he said he was mailing a check. How the hell do you see that as a one way email? How do you say that isn't proof? How do you say the emails don't mention a dollar figure? These emails have been verified. David has not denied them.

It has now been 6 days since my last email, and I left a message again yesterday on the customer service line (which is now full and can no longer take messages). I understand that this past weekend was a holiday weekend, but there have been several other days that you could have contacted me. I know that sometimes it is easy to forget to put a check in the mail, but we have been having these discussions for awhile now, and I would hope that it would be some sort of priority to you as you said it was in the beginning. I feel I have done quite a bit to help out your site with advertising, as I should being the show promoter, but I am not having good feelings about the lack of concern you seem to have for the success of this show as of late, nor the responsibilities of someone who has promised to sponsor a show.
I am sorry if I sound frustrated, but this has really been going on for awhile now, and the show is only about a month away. That and the fact that I cannot call either the customer service number or the number you provided me awhile ago as your personal number and leave a message is very frustrating, as my emails do not seem to be helping the situation either.
I hope to hear from you soon, and I really hope we can get this situation settled. I do hope that everything is well with you and your family, and hope you had a good holiday weekend.

Disagreements based on opinions are going to be standard fare here on the BOI, and certainly sometimes they may get quite heated in intensity. But regardless, the name calling really needs to be toned down quite a bit where it appears to be attacks against other members who are simply providing their own, although contrary, opinions on an issue.

It doesn't help to serve the purpose of this forum if people are AFRAID to voice their opinions, no matter in whose favor, out of fear of being jumped and beaten senseless by other members who have contrary opinions. All that will do is to INHIBIT the addition of more valuable info that would help UNBIASED members to reach a conclusion based on a more BALANCED offering of facts, details, and opinions. Cross examination and pressing someone to the mat for proof or further details to support their statements is one thing, but downright bad mouthing them for offering such details, or having such opinions, is really not helping anyone here.

So please keep the disagreements and the expressions of your OPINIONS, civil, and at lease somewhat professional in delivery.

When ive tried to stay unbiased, ive gotten slammed. Seems like everyone has already formed their opinions without the whole story. I dont see reptster coming here after all of this. Theres 2 sides to everything. Why would someone come on here if they are going to get torn up over it. Im even afraid to say what I think so imagine what reptster thinks. Of course I don't think most of you even care about what they think because you have already made up your minds.

Part of what help people to make up their minds is the fact that David DID come here and did not defend himself at all.

The majority of these good people were waiting patiently for quite some time for David to come to Fauna and deliver the mysterious missing emails. Those never came and only after that did many people really decide that Repster was owing Kelly money.

Do you honestly think that the attitude here is why David didn't come defend himself? If so, please go back and read the earlier posts again and you will see how many people were expecting David to come to the BOI and have a very reasonable explaination for everything.

No, I would assume the reason he didn't come here to defend himself is because HE CAN'T.

I would also assume he is a spineless little pussy with no principles or ethics. I have seen many such people succeed in business, but that never made me like them any more.

He needs to either put on his "big boy" pants, and deal with this, or go down the tube.

Not holding my breath at this point, since his hole is pretty big, and his shovel looks pretty small.
