In CA and many states that regulate herps, they use exotic to mean any non native herps. That covers everthing not native whether one state over, or from Africa.

Yes, I have said permit. But we're talking about what appears (at least in my opinion) to be an illegal transaction that has nothing to do with a breeding (only a few specified sp. are covered, Crotalus sp, not being one of them) permit, or a possession permit.

That is correct, from the state level, though they are often times banned by cities, and not as often, but sometimes by counties.
Some other comments, so I don't have to reply to each of your messages seperately.
As for shipping, you first state, that you know you would have to go to LA for a Delta Dash legally shipped venomous, and state that I don't know how you handled this transaction, so it was not my business, kind of inferring that you did it properly. Yet in another post, you state you only ship via certain shippers (forget the 3 you listed UPS, Fed-ex?) because you don't ship venomous. Yet it is obvious that the mentioned transaction involved shipping of a venomous herp in both directions.
As for attempting to get proper permits, by all means do, but I would suggest you bone up on the applicable laws and requirements, because I don't think they generally issue them after, they find out you may have "imported" a non-native venomous, or illegally "sold" re;trade, barter, sell....a native Herp, even if it was due to ignorance of the applicable laws.
On a more personal note, after my initial post, I went to bed feeling very bad about making a post that basically accused two people of illegal poaching. If you look at all my posts I don't think I've ever come close to posting such a potentially ugly post. The reason this even caught my eye, was because of a post you made a while back about.."Any herpers living in the central valley want to get to gether this coming season and do some herping, specifically mentioning
Crotalus ", so I was already aware of you as a fellow herper who lived relatively close, so when 88 posted that the Sidewinder was nice, it threw up a red flag.
you seem like a very enthusiastic herper who has/had a lot of potential, but if pointing out that it is important that fellow herpers do everything "above board" because our hobby is demonized and scrutinized, makes us elitist then I don't know what to say. Fauna Classifieds (and BOI) is a great place, there are a lot of great people here, and herping is our passion, and for some of us our obssesion, and we welcome any fellow herpers who feel the same way, but we all take it a little personal when we see things that have the potential to give us a "black eye"
