In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry BallBids.com?

Well, even though they have the LLC. registration does not make them legit.

There are numerous businesses registered to that one address (along with other inconsistencies tied to that address), which is in Florida and which I am sure is owned by Avi's parents if he is who he claims to be.

That aside, they are running said "business" out of another state where they are clearly in violation of licensing issues as has been brought up on Facebook. I think they assume they have found a loop hole to it, but I am certain they are lying in more ways than one regarding this whole BallBids deal.

So, market crashing is not really the only issue I see here, though I do agree with you, Ritchie. I do not think they will last much longer. Too many people are realizing something is definitely wrong with their so called "business model" and "business ethics".

Yeah some people want to be rich over night.

He sees the money now. That is great. He is going to get a piece of the pie. But that is all he is going to get.

Basically he is getting a piece of the pie and turning around and selling cheaply, thereby making pie prices come down. Meanwhile, with pie prices coming down, the kitchen is not able to sustain itself. Pretty soon the kitchen will have to close down. So basically he assured himself a piece of the pie. He made sure that the piece he got is the only piece he will get. He realized he was not goog at breeding / baking the pies. So he is here to get whatever piece he can get.

I really don't see this as having any risk of "driving the market down" or "crashing" the market for ball pythons. Even IF it were legit and somehow managed to succeed despite some seriously bumbling ineptitude.

Their business is a GAME. It's a CHANCE to MAYBE get a good price on something cool. Anyone who really needs or wants a specific snake (whether that be for breeding, business, or personal pet) is still going to need to go out and simply BUY it on the current market.

You can find all kinds of neat cars being "given away" in Las Vegas. Just pay a few pennies, a few dollars, a few hundred dollars...for your chance to win this "free" car. You don't see that driving down the prices of Corvettes anywhere...not even in Vegas.

You know, I'm all for someone finding unique ways to make a living, and certainly no one can fault someone for trying something new, but for some hard to pin down reason, this just doesn't feel right to me. The best I can define it is that these guys are setting up basically a distribution center where they are the middle men between the people they buy the animals from, and those people they ship them to when they have won the auction.

Are they really going to do ANYTHING to and for those animals while they are in the short (they hope) transition stage at their "distribution center"? How would you manage any sort of quarantine in a scenario such as that? You've basically got two choices: (1) a separate room for each animal or animals coming from a particular source, or (2) don't even touch or care for the animals between the time they come in and the time they leave. Which of those two do you think the most feasible, under the circumstances?

Quite honestly, had they altered their operation slightly whereby others would be doing the offering of the animals, and both the owners of the site as well as those people who actually own and sell their animals would share in the profits, they could have not only really done well at this, but it would have benefitted a WHOLE LOT more people. Sure, it would just be a different set of headaches for them, but in my opinion, I think it would have been a much BETTER and LESSER set of headaches, all things considered. It sure would have cut out an unnecessary step of shipping the animals to a centralized distribution center and the potential lack of care and/or quarantine. It would also have garnered a LOT of support from the sellers at the onset, and would have taken quite a load off of the owners of the site as well. I'm sure there are wrinkles I'm not taking the time to think about, but yeah, it might sacrifice some profit margin for the owners, but does this have to be ALL about money?

Ah well, the cat is out of the bag now. Someone else will likely figure out how to do this RIGHT. And no, it's NOT going to be me. I'm retired and not looking for more work to do.

I kinda see your point. But then again, the winners are not gonna turn around and make corvette babies to sell cheaply.

I see your point webslave. Penny auction site that is like a regular auction site where animals come straight from the other people and NOT the auction site itself. I would actually bid on something like that. Just for fun too. Like some have said. It is like playing the lottery. It has its reward.

The way the set up is done right now, it is like playing the lottery and the reward is to possibly end up with a sick animal that can wipe out my entire collection.

and now it is obvious I have to go find another place to study because I can't seem to stay away from the internet. cya AGAIN

I am still in Europe but I had some time and read most of this thread so I want to make a quick post. I have earned an honest reputation in this business. I spend way more than In necessary to give my animals only the best care because I truly love them and care about them. I produce quality ball pythons and I ship promptly to customers all over the world. That is why I have a good reputation in this business.

My first reaction is one that I still subscribe to. My job is to produce quality animals and follow through with husbandry and breeding advice. I do not believe that my job includes qualifying every buyer to make sure they rise to some standard that meets my approval and I certainly do not believe that my reputation becomes tied to every person I sell to. That is completely ludicrous.

These guys are young and will hopefully learn from this experience. Some of the comments were beyond harsh, but, hey that's the nature of the Internet and to some extent the reptile community at times.

In the end, because of the way the owners of ballbids have handled much of this and the problem with security on their website or whatever caused the same person to win multiple auctions, they have become toxic. So, we at least, will not be supplying any more ball pythons to them. If they continue, someone will supply them, but I just do not want the hassle of supplying such a controversial business. Now everyone please stop emailing me about this. I have been away and have not even looked at my emails until tonight. Put your efforts to productive use and email HSUS or something. I'm on your side.

If you have been following this whole mess, please call this number and report ballbids for selling/using exotic animals in an auction setting with out a license.
This is the number for the Kentucky fish and wildlife.
There is a live dispatch operator that answers she will ask where they are located : Louisville Kentucky
What is the business called : Ballbids.com
what is the nature of their business: they are auctioning exotic snakes out of Kentucky. When asked to provide proof that they are following the federal exotic animal law in regards to auctioning they state that they do not need one as they are licensed out of Florida.
__________________________________________________________________________That is how my call went.
The dispatch was very interested in that and said that an agent will most likely get back to me. If enough people call and report them I think that they will have to cease and desist.

Call 800-25-ALERT to Report a Law Violation

Please pass this on!!

If they had been as smart as they think they are they could have set it up to drop ship the snakes to the winners. It would have overcome the issues with their lack of quarantine and "care" of the snakes. Although, those issues were probably the least of their problems...

I just saw it, thought I was seeing things actually….been staring at this thread for too long I guess! LOL!. Not that I care, but I took a picture of it actually. I actually think that if they were to drop ship like someone else suggested earlier, that it would be a much better way to do it. You could have the breeder guarantee genetics, stand behind the product and make money doing it. They would move a lot of snakes that would otherwise sit in their tubs for possible ever. But in saying that, the current way they are doing things, I don not endorse.

These guys are going to see a major lawsuit LONG before they make much money. I will qoute this post again at a later date :D

Well, I popped onto their FB, and it looks like they are giving up trying to delete comments and people off the page, at least for now. There is talk of those who have already won getting their shipments tomorrow, but they definitely working as hard to control everyone on the page. There are a ton of people asking to see their licenses, and they of course are being evasive and refusing to show any of that. If as many people are calling the authorities in KY as they are saying they are, they are probably getting a decent number of calls on them. It should be interesting to see how things pan out in the next few days.

I think they are just a couple of young guys, out to try and make a quick buck. They didn't give much thought or consideration into how to run/own a business or everything involved in it. I think they just expected everyone to jump on board and to make as much money as possible in as little time as they could. They tried hard to deal with people questioning them, and I think Avi stayed cordial and tried to be as positive as possible. It seems like ever since Zack got involved in dealing with people, that's when the banning began. His mentality seems to be that those outspoken people need to be silenced, and that's not a very effective way to deal with someone who could be a potential customer.
