In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

You're beating a dead horse
No, you're beating a dead horse
well if we're beating a dead horse, so are you
I won't stop unless you stop first
Oh crap, we need more sticks
Where is everybody
Who cares, I'm going to get the last word

How about this one - since the buyer and seller consider this resolved, and have moved on, there really isn't any reason go continue commenting [B"]UNLESS[/B] somebody has something constructive to add regarding this situation, OR people want to share their experiences with Ben Siegel Reptiles

 Can't help myself... We bought three boas off of Ben's auction last night. They were confirmed this morning. (Excellent customer service as usual) They'll be on my doorstep in the morning.

(Does that give me one more chance to post when they are received?)

All my dealings with Ben have been fantastic. I've won several of his auctions. I won a Wamana GTP and a Brooks King and that transaction went off without a hitch and received them.

Then after that I won 2 Biaks, a Coastal Carpet/IJ mix, and brought a Dumeril's boa from him. That time the issue was on my part. I called and made a payment, but when they went to run my card the payment wouldn't go through. I called and gave them another card, but that wouldn't go through either. I was really embarrassed but they did not give me a hard time about it in the least. When I finally did pay through PayPal it was well after the 48 hour payment window.

And then once we got all the payment figured out, they called to let me know that one of the Biaks I had won in the auction had a lump on it that they noticed when they went to pack it up and asked if I would be okay with receiving a different biak instead. They let me know that it was about 10% smaller/younger than the one I had won but that in their opinion it was a nicer animal and that I would be very happy with it. And they were right.

That whole experience just solidified to me that Ben is a good guy running a great company, and that I will definitely continue to buy from him in the future. In fact I'm just about to go make a payment on a boa I won last night.

Wow, That's really sad that he did not see this. That really shows how often he checks on his animals and not to mention, feeding a live rodent and not attending to it.

On Sept 11, 11 I posted on his page, making a suggestion. Saying, it would be nice to have a discount for all military personals, Fire fighters, police officers, EMTs, etc...

I really do not mind if he does or does not do a discount on that day. Although it really does offend me and a few others that he deleted my post. My husband was in the military for 10 yrs and has gotten out, and my brother has just enlisted. Most of my close friends are still in and a few has gotten out too. So, yes... I did take it to heart. I have deleted him off my friends list and will never do business with him again. It's not very American like to delete that post. Just my opinion...

Wow. Just...wow.

My husband has been in the Air Force for 20+ years and is still going. Retirement is NOT in sight for us. We were married just before he went active duty...so I've been at his side the entire time.

I would never.....EVER....suggest to anyone that they give some sort of special deal to me just because of that. (And yes, I realize you intended "everyone" to be able to get a deal...not just you...but it amounts to the same)

While I am always deeply appreciative and sometimes even moved by the special consideration given to the military and first responders....I never in my wildest dreams thought we were ENTITLED to such a thing.

I would have done the same thing in Ben's position.

Wow... so the OP wanted and received a freebie. You are pissed because you wanted a service personnel discount and he removed it from his FB wall... So... you'll never do business with him again? Brilliant. Any idea how he would validate that a person is an EMT, Soldier, Fireman, Police Officer... etc? Picture? Copy of his ID? A customer's "word"? :shootfoot

At what point did people start thinking their entitled to something for nothing ? I must have missed it.

I wonder what these people teach their children to do when someone accidentally gives them back too much change at the drive through ? Keep quiet and haul ass ?

LMAO, this is not for me... I am not entitled to anything. This was for all those who are still in.. Never did I say, It was for me. Like I said, Military Personal... Not people who have gotten out or their spouse.... Read before you speak out. Amazing!!!

You're absolutely right. I MAY not have deleted the post if I were him, can understand why he might want to. If he wants to give military folks a discount then he can go ahead and do so, but you suggesting he does and then him not doing it might give SOME folks the impression he's anti-military or even anti-American. It shouldn't, but it just might do that.

And so what if he deleted the post? Does that mean that he doesn't appreciate those in military service? Nah, it probably means he'd rather make his own decisions on how to run his business.

If you can step back from your own offense on facebook, look at the original situation again you'll see that the seller has admitted they missed the damage to the snake (people do miss stuff) and now the buyer had BOTH the snake and ALL her money from the transaction. How anybody can come here and still bust on Ben is beyond me.

You clearly stated how you thought Ben should run his business with this post.
You say you do not mind if he gives a discount or not but when he deleted your post you have now defriended him and will never do business with him again ?

You sure do make ALOT of assumptions . You have no idea how the snake got injured, you have no idea why he removed the post yet you speak of rodent bites and not very american like .

What if someone was very religious and asked him to give discounts for being part of a religious group ? Childrens group ? Anti cancer group ?
I'm as diehard american as the next guy and maybe BEN will come up with some nice gesture if he wishes to. But for you to take it personally because he removed your post and then come to this thread and post about how you will now never do business with him again because he did so ? Even suggesting he might be "not very american" is pretty low on your part. You may not want something for free for yourself but you sure do want discounts for everyone else .

Once again, entitlement.

And my son is in the army so dont give me a lecture .

Maybe ur right. For some reason it offense me... why? Maybe because I see so many out there that do not appreciate those who serves and protects. Is it wrong of me to feel this way about someone that I actually look up to? IDK.... I just thought it would be a nice gesture. Weather he does it or not, its up to him. I am not looking to purchase anything at the moment. So, no it was not for myself.

Nope not trashing because he did not do what I suggested. The question is, why would u delete it? I think PakinJak maybe right on his note.

So does that mean I get a discount because I work for a plumbing and HVAC company and without companies like mine you would die of heat stroke, freeze of the cold, and have clogged tubs, drains, possibly no hot water, etc.?

It doesn't make him unamerican line... Im just as appreciative of our military as others but they shouldn't be ENTITLED to a discount on anything... it is a business owners option... and then again how would the proof be shown? I bank with a company locally that is mainly for our military but I am not military. My brother served and retired, my uncle, some close friends, AND my friends husband serves.... none of them get crappy when they are not offered a discount on services.

And if you didn't notice my location, I am from a heavily populated military area... I just think it is bias that discounts get offered to ONLY military for things... there are OTHER people that service the communities that get no appreciation... I understand yes they are risking their lives for our freedom and I am forever grateful for that, but deleting Ben and then saying it was UnAmerican to remove YOUR post from HIS wall is ridiculous... maybe sending him a private message asking if he offers discounts for military would have been the proper steps... proves that you might be one of those people that wants something for nothing like the OP.

Of course you did. Go back and read what you wrote.

Why delete it ? Maybe so people dont get the wrong idea that he's
"anti american" in these rough times if he chose NOT to do what YOU suggested.

It's a public forum, things like that should be done through PM and you certainly shouldn't get offended if he doesn't agree with you. Unless of course, you think people are entitled to a little something extra ?

LOOK, it's just something I would do on that day. To say "Thank you and I appreciate what you have done for this country." Hey, if you disagree... so be it. I really do not care anymore... Freedom of speech. I say what I said and you said what you said. No big deal... I am just not going to sit here and go back and forth. It's a waste of my time and it's a waste of your time. Because obviously, we are not on the same page, I understand that. I am just saying, I would have done a discount on Sept. 11 and if I didn't want to... I would not have delete that post. So, if you want to have the last word, go right ahead. I'm done here. :) Like the other post said... BEATING A DEAD HORSE LOL So, true. Have a great day...

Here's where you went wrong, Ms. Garrett, and why Ben reacted the way he did. (Most likely....I'm not in his head or anything)

You chose a PUBLIC venue to tell a businessman how to run his business. You chose a particularly sensitive day and sensitive subject as well. You put him on the spot and in an extremely uncomfortable position. If he leaves the post up on his wall, but does not "agree" to do what it tells him to do...he looks bad. Then he's on the spot having to explain to everyone who sees it WHY he chose not to go along with your great idea. Which...frankly....is none of our business.

I didn't choose to give discounts for subscriptions at my site, either. For a number of reasons. And if someone had come out of the blue and publicly told me I should...I would have deleted their post as well.

YOU say it was "just a suggestion" and that you "don't care"....but your reaction to his response to you shows that your expectations were far above the level of a "suggestion" and you were emotionally invested in his decision to give such a discount....for whatever reason.

I DO understand that it was a very emotional day. But that was then. Today is today....and the fact that you're still stewing over it enough to come out here and blast him on the BOI for it says a lot as well.

Yes...you did what you wanted to....you believe what you want. But I'll for sure also do what I want and stand up to say that Ben is NOT a bad guy for deleting a completely irresponsible post off his wall.

I've never expected anyone to give me stuff in return for my military service. I did what I did for love of country, and so that someone else wouldn't have to. If I ever find out my husband is asking for discounts for me, he's gonna get a stern talking to. If they offer it that's awesome and appreciated, but I'd never dream of asking. Tacky.

Dang, I been doing it wrong!

I'd have deleted the comment as well, given that there was probably some inflammatory stuff that went with it. And now that someone mentions it, I wouldn't have to want to be checking IDs and verifying who is who either. Not everyone is honest and I can just picture of whole slew of folks claiming that discount. Same price for all is certainly fair in the world of reptiles.
