Did you come to the conclusion that it IS wrong? Nothing you've stated in this thread has supported that idea, so what other motivation did you have to stop? Or did you stop at all? Earlier you were claiming that there were plenty of Collared Lizards out there and they could withstand the collection, now you don't do it at all right? Why not?

I figured that someone would say that DThomas and I just happen to disagree. Your logic is cogent and all, but I feel that it is a common ideal that this sort of collecting is wrong (and it has been in my experience with many herpers who I've met in person) and thus I believe that since he's doing the questionable act it is his responsibility to defend himself when someone calls him on it pubically. My expectations are of no one but Justin.

We live in an adversarial society. As such, the accuser has the burden to prove the accusations. It has never been accepted to have the accused prove the accuser wrong. Your reasoning and argument based on opinion alone is why the US Constitution was written in such away to protect people from this very sort of thing.

Well folks, I feel that my job here is done. I have not been affected by anyone's responses because I consider them to be little more than Justin's defenders. He is a regular on this site, so that's to be expected. I didn't expect the majority of posters here to agree with me. What I wanted from this transaction was three fold:

- to bring Justin's behavior to light publically

- to make his actions known to the authorites

- to motivate him not to mass collect these animals

Now, given what I had to go on, this was what I felt that I should do. I am very upset at the recent possible changes in Texas law, so I decided to cause a little trouble for Justin given his actions. I believe that my objectives have been fullfilled.

From this point out, any posts made will probably be to flame me (go ahead, I can take it)...So unless I see something that deserves a response, I'm out. PEACE.

How many times have YOU bragged about trespassing on private property to collect specimens? How many times have YOU broken laws to get what you want? You may not sell, only becuase you have NO husbandry experiance and all the charm of a rat dead 3 days, but who the HECK are you to ASSume you are better than ANYONE?

I have tresspassed in the past, but it's not something that I do anymore since I can already find everything I need on land that I have permission to go on. But yeah, I've tresspassed, so what? Kinda petty if you ask me. I won't hold it against you Wes.

I don't think I'm "better" than anyone, but I am confident. If that's a crime, I'm guilty as charged...

I have pickled animals before. Yep, that means I went out and collected them and then took them back to a lab and KILLED them, OMG! In reality this isn't as big a deal as it will probably be made out to be...Anyone who is in the business of field herping who does not collect voucher specimens from new and/or important localities is doing the science of herpetology a disfavor. I do collect voucher specimens, so you're right again Wes!

Justin does something in the past that is "illegal" and he is oh so wrong.
You do something "illegal" in your past andpeople are just being petty,

This is all too funny to me. Yes, I am a friend of Chad and yes he came to my defense in the past but I have nothing to do with this thread. I was told about it and have been watching Justin dig himself further and further into the grave with all this name bashing.

hey troll..not illegal to hunt private roads on private property...nor did they ever really care about hunting off the public roads...
like to share a little letter with you:

In regards to our conversation earlier today, our new policy will be to allow reptile collectors, that are legally licensed to pull off the roadway and walk over to pick up a specimen from the roadway. We will not consider this to be hunting from the roadway. Stopping in the road or driving in a manner that impeded trafic should be avoided because they violate the traffic code. I hope this clarifies this issue for you.

this letter is old by three or 4 years and reflect TPW position on this issue, they have always leaned this way and rarley has any herper before this was made official policy charged with hunting from a vehicle or on a roadway..the law was intended for people using firearms and hunting game etc.. not picking up snakes or lizards..

You are mad because they are trying to close hunting from roads.

what do you consider hunting from roads? I consider it hunting with firearms.
I do not consider hnting from roads as picking up lizards. Have you even talked to anyone why they are making the law? Have you talked to anyone what the law is even about?
