In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Don't buy from LLL.reptile

Mr. Gerber,
There really is nothing amazing about the LLL offer in relation to the economy, the site unseen yes since most of us would require some proof. Good companies do not change their policy just because of the economic times.

Were I Ms. Romaneschi, I would be following up on the offer made by LLL and if they came through I would revive this thread with an update & apology. That would be the right, adult, responsible thing to do.

Then again this could just be another of those hit and smear posts with no validity. Ms. Romaneschi never made any effort to prove anything she said from the purchase to the vet visit.

In fact this was such a big deal with her that she has not even logged on to Fauna since just after post #4 in this thread which was when it was clear that people were not going to start automatically siding with her. Hmmmm
It was also 22 minutes before Mr. Wesley/LLL Reptiles posted.

i have done business with LLL on occasions and have had nothing but great service when dealing with them. i called and made kate aware of this thread and 20 minutes after i called and talked with her Mr West responded. i was sure the buyer did not notify them of this bad guy thread so i did. it's always best to hear both sides even though one side showed no evidence what so ever to begin with.

Rat mouth? lol all mine get that once a week!

After being out of this hobby for many years I decided to purchase a pair of blood pythons from LLL. Being alittle nervous shipping from CA. to OH. in mid August I was very pleased to see the animals that I purchased were Packed, shipped, and represented as advertised. they arrived ate and grew like weeds. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. many thanks

Ian

LOL rat mouth

ive noticed a few things here. one, the accusor has no realm of proper grammer or spelling. two, the accusor has not chimed back in to further his/her title of the thread. three, it seems LLL was way more than ethical in offering credit to a person that says, and only says, that his/her snake was sick and has died. kinda suspicious that the person had no clue how to care for a snake, it died and now wants money back.
This has to be one of the funniest posts I've ever read.

You know....though I tend to agree with the general consensus here, I have to say...aren't some going a bit overboard?

I mean, this appears to be a newbie owner, and very possibly has no idea how the realm of buying live critters online is vastly different than buying inanimate objects. She's coming from her vet, whom she has no reason to believe she should not trust completely, and feeling that things were not handled properly. (Think perhaps she could have heard "mouth rot" or "rot mouth" and understood it wrong? How many times have people gone to a human doctor and misquoted, mispronounced their diagnosis etc?)

A simple, helpful explanation would have probably been sufficient....does ridiculing her really serve any purpose here? :shrug01:

i agree to a certain extent. ripping on her doesnt really serve a purpose. however, if she is passionate, and truly stands behind her accusations about LLL, then she needs to reply back with pictures and words stating that LLL is in the wrong and she is in the right.

Perhaps she realized, after the first couple of fairly polite posts, that she WAS wrong?

and that maybe, which i would commend her form that. again, it comes down to, if she is wrong, then she needs to come on here and say, my post was harsh, and i was wrong. and if she thinks she is right, she needs to prove that point. i just believe (and its my opinion only) that if you accuse a place of being bad and tell people not to buy from or go there, you need to provide reasonable proof. otherwise, if you realize you were a little out of line, you need to right yourself.

Agreed, an apology from her would be nice. But I don't know that I would either, and simply face more ridicule.

Regardless...all I'm saying is that to keep poking fun at her, when she's already suffered a loss (whether or not she knew the "proper" way of handling it here), is probably pretty pointless and not conducive to anything helpful to anyone.

i agree, that a few, including myself, probably took it too far from a redicule point of view. again, people get rediculed and ripped on all the time for small stuff and major stuff. but you pick up and move on and either provide proof for the accusations in the first place, or just swallow your pride and say, "look, i was a bit over the edge with my post, i apologize" then it would be done and this thread would probably cease and everybody can move on, and alot of people would probably help her with questions in the future.

They should be thanking you for your post, as I think they may get more business out of it than what they could lose from it. What a stand up reputable company. I have only had 1 transaction with them at a show but now i think I will consider buying more from them.

I agree. I've never heard of lll before but they sound pretty reputable from what I'm reading here so I headed over to their website... 7 ft tall screen cages for 70 bucks? Zoo med 10-20 gallon UTH for 12 bucks?? Temp guns, thermostats, everything here is REALLY competitively priced. I'm in love with this website and I haven't even looked at the animals yet. I wish I had known about this site months ago! Do you know how much money I would have saved setting up for my 5 newest BPs a couple weeks ago? Sheesh.

I know where I'm getting my cage when I get a chameleon!

I've never bought any reptiles from "triple L" but they gave me a great deal on a new incubator with a few bags of hatch-rite and deli cups and all that fun stuff.
I've asked about a few animals from them, but they were sold already.
I've never really heard anything "bad" about them either.. Their supplies and other products are great, as far as animals, I couldn't say.
I guess the lesson here is, "read the breeders arrival/after arrival guarantee policy" and if there is a problem, even only a suspected one, notify them immediately.
Sorry about your loss, good luck in the future.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from them without problem and at local shows they're animals always looked really nice

And yet the title of the thread remains "Don't buy from LLL Reptile". That doesn't seem fair.

Robyn, yes, I realize it doesn't seem fair, but there are reasons behind my leaving such things "as is". Firstly, this is because of valued legal advice I have received on how to maintain a legally neutral posture for myself and the moderators in relation to what is posted in this forum. By editing a thread title, the editor then becomes a co-author of that thread, and if litigation would result (you never know how these things will go), the editor could legitimately be named as a defendant in a lawsuit.

Secondly, editing is a double edged sword when it comes to credibility. Although it would be nice to edit obvious mistakes, not only in judgement by the poster, but also in corrections of content as well for accuracy, the realization that edits ARE taking place invariably leads to the question of how much you are reading is actually a true and accurate reflection of what the original poster typed in. Most people HIGHLY resent the words that they own here being changed by someone else, and therefore NOT being what they actually said at all.

I believe most people would assume that the title line is merely a come-on anyway, so anyone truly interested in what was being said about the subject of the thread would READ the thread for it's content, and not take for granted that the title tells the total story without any further elaboration.

Welcome back, btw.... :)

My stance on LLL remains the same, great for supplies, but not animals. They mix CB with WC, and on more than one instance have I seen bad handling of their animals by employees. Having been in their store several times for supplies, I am never impressed with their animals.

Thank you, Cathy! My sentiments, exactly.

Most of the posts were to the point & relatively smooth. At least one, however, was over the top & totally uncalled for.

Ms. Romaneschi,
It appears to me that you may be somewhat inexperienced and you're most likely emotionally upset about the snake's death as well as the money you're out of. I think I would be too if I were in your shoes and didn't know proper procedures for purchasing any animal, whether online or in person.

Please don't take the word "inexperienced" offensively as I don't mean it degradingly. There are many things that I'm inexperienced in. Anytime you buy an animal, pay close attention to it & look it over real good as soon as you get it. Always contact the person you bought the animal from at the first sign of any trouble or concerns you may have. That is, unless it's a dire emergency that requires immediate Vet attention. Even then, contact the seller just as soon as possible.

Your situation has an unfortunate ending, and you're not the first nor the last to experience such a situation. I feel your pain and I'm sorry for your lost of companion & money. The offer from LLL is a very generous one that you should take them up on. Some breeders/dealers only guarantee their reptiles to arrive alive. Some offer a 7-day health guarantee while a few may offer a slightly longer period.

I've never dealt with LLL but I know they do large volumes of sales of reptiles & supplies. Like was mentioned earlier, with that amount of volume, something's bound to go wrong once in awhile. A general saying here in the BOI is: "It's not so much whether or not a seller has a problem, it's more how they handle that problem."

Whatever you do, don't let anyone or any comments run you off from here. As you can see, most of us are fair.

Hang in there!

My only interaction with LLL was as follows: Robin acted as a shipping agent between me and a certain other party that is , apparently, a friend of his. I met up with LLL at Hamburg, Pa reptile show almost 2 years back. I dropped off a hybrid anaconda that he agreed to ship to his friend since I wasn't in a position to do so. I've never bought from Robin, but he was very courteous to me, even though I'm a total stranger and a nobody in the industry. While I was waiting for for our interaction to run it's course, I decided to check out his animals and I didn't notice anything that would cause me to think twice about buying from him. I'm certainly not anywhere near an expert in herps, but I didn't see anything in his display animals that alarmed me or made me think they weren't well cared-for. If the measure of a person can be ascertained by how he treats someone that can do him absolutely not good, than I have to say LLL is "thumbs up" in my book. At no profit to himself, he helped me complete a transaction that would NOT have been completed without his help. For that, he has my thanks.

I been doing buisness with LLL reptile for years and they always back up there products unless you do not immediatly notify them of a problem so its your fault as much as theres. to be bluntly!! They are a reputable buisness for many years and every one has some bad times every once and a while, though they should have known the animal was sick.

Alert to Everyone!
I just recently purchased a baby ball python from this website in January 2009. Not only was this porr snake sick--it had rat mouth a bad mouth infection. I took it to the vet who is a zoo vet and experienced who gave us antibiotics and a mouth cleaner. after 1 week it died. The vet said it was probably sick already from the online website LLL.reptile. AFter a $300.00 bill later, the snake never really recovered and died. So I called and asked for my money back which they did not refund. They said I should have called them after the snake got sick, how can they diagnose a snake over the phone? Anyway they said they would give me a credit but after this experience I will NEVER buy on line-only from a reputable dealer.
