In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Glades Herp- Bad Guys

I don't remember there being anyone by the name of Glades Herp on the left... I'll see if there's a map thingy for the show.

I just think this is really sad. I don't think it matters anymore if Glades hasn't responded to this thread. Do not shoot yourself in the face by asking them to show up.

If Paulina were an adult, I would have no reservations in fighting away. Being a kid, though, you're going to make mistakes, it's just the way it is.

#1 Admit that you picked a snake that was already in poor condition (likely)

#2 Admit that you did not have the resources to take care of it properly.

This thread is no longer about Glades. It is probably kind of them to not lay into you here.

It is a very sad thing to put down an animal that cannot be recovered. It is sadder to put it down if it can be recovered. It is remorseful to put down an animal that has been put into it's condition (or helped along the path to death) by poor husbandry.

I admire anyone that has such an interest in herps. Know your limitations and realize that your actions have consequenses. Take the snake you killed. Understand its suffering. Empathise with it. Remember it.

I think Glades passed onto you a snake that they may have known was sick. That sucks in itself. Do NOT let this animal die for no reason. Understand what went on. The things you should have done to either not have bought it in the first place, or to take care of it later.

Every new snake I get goes to the vet right away. Figure if one has an RI, it will cost $100 to take care of.

When you can do that for one snake, get it. Even if it looks healthy, expect to spend another $60 for a routine check up.

I am opposed to beating the poop out of a 13 year old girl over 13 year old mistakes. I am fully in support of making her recognize that some animal has suffered because of poor choices.

Please be humble and recognize your mistakes. Change them later. Make better decisions.

That's all it takes.

Down towards the food vendor has been Regal at the last few shows. I believe Glades have been up front.

After almost 3 months you can't expect anyone to reimburse you for an animals that died even if you had the right Vendor, which in this case I think you may have bought it from someone other than Glades. Randy

I have admitted to this.

At the time, I did make a poor decision to 1. Take the snake 2. Not have the things ready for him, like money for a vet.

The snake was not put down, it died on it's own. Once again, I am not ruling out my husbandry, I just don't think that's what killed him

The snake died in my care, but I doubt I was the one that actually killed him.

Now, I will check out Regal, but do they even sell beauties?

Why not hold off for a while before getting another snake until you have double checked your husbandry and have the funds readily available to care for it if something like this happens again?

Don't rush right into getting another snake.

I don't think she wants to get a snake from Regal, sounds more like she wants to now try and blame them for selling her the snake...

why in the world would you think that? she doesn't even know for sure where she bought it from and seems to be describing another vendor.

it lived for 3 months in her care, supposedly, ate, supposedly, and may have never been sick at all. it may or may not have been frozen as well.

simply saying what you did is TOTALLY unfair. there is zero evidence whatsoever to back it up. forming an opinion based on partial facts is one thing, but grabbing an opinion and voicing it in a forum like this is something else.

I agree. Assuming that Glade's sold her a sick animal is a little out there. I've never bought from them but I don't buy that for a second.

Get real Erik how after 3 months did you come to that conclusion ?? Heck most don't give more than a 24 hour health guarantee much less a 90 day one. Beside this girl isn't even sure WHO she bought from.

And the first part of the Quote IE "fighting away" what the heck does that mean??

This kid bought a snake from someone and after 3 months it dies, after she has admitted she didn't know how to care for it and told people it had died once already(maybe it is a Cat snake and has 9 lives and will pop back to life again) And for you to even imply it was the sellers fault is purely Asinine to put it mildly.. Randy

Paulina, no one owes you a snake a refund or anything else! You on the other hand owe everyone here and especially Glades an apology .

This thread should be Xed out as who the heck knows where she bought the snake ! What next will she start a thread here about each vendor at Hamburg ?

I know, the bulk of my post was to basically say, "It's a kid that made a poor decision that cost an animal its life"

I've done it. I wager that others here have done it too.

I was trying to help her see that point that you made exactly. I was trying to give her an opportunity to say, "Yes, I was wrong, this sucks" and she didn't take it.

I'm not saying it's the seller's fault, I'm saying that a sick snake takes a while to get sick and I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. I was not blaming the seller. She said that it was thin when she got it. That indicates a poor decision on her part to buy it and if it was thin, why?

I was really just trying to give her a graceful "out" as we all need at some point in our life, particularly when we're young.

As in the "fighting away" part, if this were an adult that I would expect to know better, I'd have no problem with the battering (that she may deserve) that she's gotten.

I'm just trying to remind the board that is used to dealing with mature adults that this is a child that is prone to make mistakes.

I'd just like to see some smacking about, but she's already fought back against that, so my point there is moot.

I have jumped in trying to keep the kid from being beaten up, but she has chosen another to pick on (Regal) and so if she keeps picking fights, I'm not going to get my butt kicked over it. I've done my bit.

Has anybody actually said it in english yet?

You're being an idiot.

You killed that snake by not giving it the vet it needed.

It died in your care. 3 months after you received it.

Please, God, take responsibility. It isn't so dang hard. If you love these guys. Understand that you killed this snake and apply it to the future herps you keep. Killing an animal is a horrible thing, but it's no reason to stop loving them. Just make sure that when you love them, you also feel their pain, their hunger, their needs, their comfort, their joy.

While you're doing that, thank God that you aren't my kid.

And she might as well not even waste money on a necropsy. Once the animal was put in the freezer it was ruined for a proper exam of that sort.

Many .. MANY times.. go read some past posts.. like the one about the snake in question.. oh.. you will forget her ignorant childlike ways. She wants to be treated like an adult.. so.. let her take the flack she deserves.
