Excellent point! And I for one check out buyers before I sell any of my animals. In addition, if you are selling or ever hope to in the future, your behavior here is a reflection that may not bode well for you (anyone in general).

Paul, This isn't exactly a true statement. There are plenty of threads that ended in a resolution. I agree when a true scammer, like Tony, is outed the people already victimized rarely get their money but the jigs up for the scammer and they have to find some other way to illegally make money.

I bet you check out the BOI every time you buy or sell from someone you don't know. It's just possible that it has saved you from getting scammed, and therefore saved you money, or the loss of a prized animal. Even if it hasn't you'll check anyway. Just like a lot of people do.

Here's how you really get your money back....Find out where the garbage lives, fly to that city, find a big strung out crack head in a back alley, then offer him a handfull of 8 balls to kick this guys door down and proceed to beat the living dog sh outa him until he either gives up the money or quits moving. If he quits moving, you don't get your money back, but at least you feel better..

Um yeah....anyway, about that hidden agenda (now that I have my money back) at the time of my first post yesterday I had already sent money off for this woma a half hour previous, but I didn't want the original subject matter to know this. I did a search on the BOI for his name a few days ago but for some reason it only returned 1 thread with positive feedback on it so I didn't question sending the guy money. Yesterday I came to the BOI to post an inquiry thread on another transaction I was planning only to find this negative thread....blah, blah, blah, yadda yadda yadda, long story short.... Cptnemo (the original owner of the woma in question) was kind enough to PM me find out what was going on, and then be nice enough to offer me some womas that I won't have to worry about getting screwed on.

Actually people here have filed suit in courts and have done it quite successfully.
I know of at least two scammers who have lost their kingsnake account.

What reply got deleted? If you are talking about your previous rant, you may want to clean off your spectacles. That kind of stuff doesn't happen here. One of the policies I have impressed upon the moderators is to allow everyone the opportunity to wrap the rope around their own neck and jump if they are hell bent on doing so.

There are VERY limited circumstances whereby anything is deleted in this forum. Generally those circumstances are related to violating the rules or being identified as a false registration, either to remain anonymous, or to bypass a suspension or ban. Other than those circumstances, whatever you type remains here.

The real issue....

When I first started this thread, I had several people PM me regarding deals w/ Tony Copertino that were at best....sketchy. They would not post their dealings or suspicions publicly for fear that they would get hammered for not having concrete proof. It was only after Joe Compel posted that a couple of these people came out publicly.....and hesitantly at that.

If you read Paul's posts (pre-"blow-up), he stated that he needed to speak to me and Tony before making any decisions. I spoke to him on the phone, and he was concerned that he wouldn't be able to stop payment on a money order and was therefore holding judgment out of the public eye until he knew if he could recoup his $$. I'd also being concerned if I sent someone money and then posted that I wouldn't do business with him on a public forum....he could have wound up w/ no money and no snake (this is why I haven't posted since before 9pm last night). For his brief lack of public decisiveness, he was strongly criticized (the written word can be interpreted in a variety of way, but he felt and seemed to be getting slammed). I don't condone 100% of Paul's statements, but I can understand how he felt.

Lots and lots of thanks to those who have helped me get to the bottom of this whole issue. I do agree that the BOI is more of a way to help people avoid losing money and less of a way for retrieving it. Having said that, even if Paul had not sent the money first as the situation was, and was going to do business w/ a known scammer, that would be a risk HE would be accepting. I wouldn't have been happy about it, but in some cases, you can lead a horse to water.....in this case, Paul just knew more than everyone knew and it worked out for the best.

Since it seems Tony has gone into hiding, it has just about confirmed that the 15 NORMAL female ball pythons I traded with him were in fact the same ones he posted the next day on K.S. as het pieds and albinos. Had he responded to this post to defend himself and not used a photo of Joe's animals, claiming them to be his, I may never have posted. Without documented proof (no, I do not take photo's of every norm or bush baby I have) I did not want to accuse anyone of being deceitful. It does look like my suspicions have been confirmed though. I did post numerous times on K.S. asking for anyone who had bought from Tony to contact me, the only one that did was Mike, hopefully no one else was scammed but if there is anyone else that bought het pieds or albinos from Tony after Nov. 11, 2007, they may want to change their plans with those animals. This has taught me one very important lesson though, I will document every animal that leaves my collection with photo's. I do wonder how many others document all normals. I keep feed records, etc, just never thought of having to take photo's of EVERY animal.

Why would you say he's gone into hiding? I've heard from a few people now that Tony feels terrible for what happened and would like make good on what he scammed me out of....just because he changed his phone # and won't reply to this thread, and hasn't offered any reasonable explanation, nor e-mailed me since before I asked him for more substantial genetic proof of the animals he sent me, that doesn't mean he's hiding....in fact, he's got an ad on KS right now for a Spider.....get this...100% Het Honeybee.

Daniel, even though you don't have pics, didn't the posted weights and such he gave for the "hets" correspond with each of those normals and poss. hets that you sold to him?

Who did I threaten to do bodily harm to? I was making sarcastic and violent examples/scenarios out of anger towards the countless numbers of people I have seen stealing money from good people in this hobby. Is it so wrong to wish bad things upon a guy who just stole a thousand bucks from you? Especially while he's laughing his arse off reading what people are saying about him on an internet forum, knowing full well he/she got away with what they did. And to ad to my anger, some people have to forget about the person that got robbed, and rant on about trivial posts such as mine instead of focusing on the task at hand. What some of you need to take litterally is the fact that some one here had money stolen from them, and not my sarcasm and mental stability.

Paul, I HAVE had over a thousand dollars scammed from me, in the same manner as Mike did.......so yeah, I feel his anger, as well as the anger of many others in the same boat.

The difference is that we know that slamming someone's head in a door and beating the crap out of them, or posting long and rambling violent posts on a forum isn't going to help. Most people, once they grow up, realize his sort of thing, and going through the proper channels HAS helped some of us to get some sort of recuperation or restitution for our trouble. But even if it hasn't....well, we aren't going to jail for anything, and if one person (like YOU!) are saved from getting scammed as well, we've done something positive.

Nobody's forgetting that Tony's a lying, thieving scumbag who ripped Mike off. It's just that recommending beating the out of people doesn't make a person look any better than the scumbag who did the stealing. Ya know?
