In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

James Stelpflug SW Wisconsin reptiles is a liar

We're the couple that were raided back in January. We'd like to thank everyone for their support and e-mails. The Dubuque Three the three baby sand boas) are doing fine. We got them back and they are now living the good life outside the city of Dubuque. Through the legal system, the city of Dubuque gave us the name of the person who lied to them causing the January 3 raid on our home. The city of Dubuque stated it was James Stelpflug of SW Wisconsin Reptiles, Dickeyville, WI. We thought he was a friend. He turned on us for no reason and lied to the city officials telling them we had pythons, boa constrictors, and venomous snakes. All of which are illegal in the city of Dubuque. We obviously did not have them or it would have made headlines. It's true that you can't trust some people, but at the same time there are good people that backed us and stood beside us to no end.

Here;
If it didn't make headlines ?? Why is their a thread on this site to the article saying that 6, yes 6, illegal snakes were confiscated and the rest were left. That tells me that beyond the 6 that were taken there were more that weren't taken.
You say the 3 boas were returned and now are outside of Dubuque (Are they illegal in Dubuque which is why they were confiscated?)
Where are the other 3 snakes they took?
What were the other snakes that they didn't take and why weren't they taken?
What was said to city officials that was a lie?
There are so many unanswered questions.
If you want to sit and discredit someone on a forum why don't you first answer a few things about how you are creditable enough to deface someone else.

P.S. Monkeywrench133 I'm not the guy from TV who does dirty jobs either but I'm sure you'r IP check will tell you that. Rather than trying to arguee with me LOOK AT THE FACTS!!!

I'm trying to.

But so far NO ONE has posted any. Not the OP. Not you.

Except for the Fact that you have the same name as a known scammer, this entire thread is nothing but "he said, she said".

I did a little research on this, and I did find what is supposed to be the City Ordinance behind the confiscation. It was posted in a comment thread on KS
Here's a cut and paste:

"This is the dangerous animal laws in Dubuque IA. Technically, all snakes constrict to some extent, which is why the law is written the way it is. Several cities have laws like this with the loose loophole. So contact the mayor and have them re-examine the law!

It would appear that due to the vagueness of this law, even a 2ft long sand boa is considered a dangerous animal, as would the kingsnakes and Indigo that were seized. However, even though Indigoes are a "threatened species" it is perfectly legal to own them. In fact, the only Federal restriction on them is in regards to transporting them across state lines. You need a federal permit for that. But there is nothing illegal about owning them.

Sorry Mike but right now to me you smell fishy. Coincidental that the person that claimed to be ripped off by a Mike Roe is Damien and your screen name is Damian. Not a ton of herpers on these forums from Iowa and what are the odds of two you sharing the same name. You obviously have some experience with herps and have an interest in the laws yet you just joined fauna in time to post on this thread and have ever only sold one ball python?

I'll apologize if I am wrong but right now things seem fishy.

No problem Mark.
I'm a member of the IA Herp Society (joined last summer),
Both individuals in this discussion are also members.
Feel free to check the iaherp.org website and ask any of the officers for information about me.

I live by Mason City and currently have 53 ball pythons and 3 spotted pythons. Most of my collection is less than three years in age. I just got back into keeping balls now that my 2 boys are old enough to enjoy it.

Like I said I've sold a ball python to a friend in Illinois over 10 years ago and if he had any complaints over it, I never heard them.

I don't know of any other Mike Roe, much less one in IA and yes it is odd to have the same nickname. I got mine due to musicial tastes and the fact that I worked with 3 other people named Mike. As far as for the number, it represents my favorite left handed pitcher Tom Glavine.

And the only reason I joined Fauna is because it is rediculous that these people are bashing Jim while hideing all the truth. Someone needed to step up and say it like it is. If I'm the one being questioned then lets start a thread about me. That's fine, I have nothing to hide, DO THEY??? Let's get some answers before some uninformed individual carries this LIE any further.

Hey, I guess there are more Mike Roe's than I knew.

There is also a Mike Roe in Washington, IA who ran for Sherriff and a Michael Roe from Farifield, IA who was killed in a 2005 car crash. Just to name a few more.

Hey Scott,
How long have I been a member of you'r forum??? #76

Your join date is: 21-February 07

But then again - BallPythonForum.com is in its infancy - having been launched in late January of this year.

Electricial lineman, been doing it since '96 with 3 different employers.

As far as this post is going; STILL no response from Bill & Linda.

I've tried to call the DNR officier but only got the voice mail and I'm waiting for the call back.

Scott, can you help me find a Kate Dean, the neighbor who was quoted and had made complaints. I'd like to speak to her but I only find a K. Dean in Dubuque on 22nd St. not sure if that's her.

Nope.
DCI Rudd, IA
Utili-trax Ramsey, MN
Moll's Utility Services Hammond, WI
And now a cushy Municipal job.

P.S. If by any chance you run across a place for me to get a copy of my '03 W2 I really need that. :yesnod:

We are the couple who own the snakes. Due to circumstances it has only been now that we've been able to respond. We'd like to thank everyone who stood up for us as herpetologists. This is our hobby. All of our pets are well cared for and checked daily. We are members of three hepetelogical societies. As for the neighbor next to us, her first response to us when she moved in was, "I hate neighbors." With that mentality we knew what we were going to be dealing with in the future. Around two years ago we received a phone call from a cub scout leader asking us to bring some snakes to a cub scout meeting. We brought around a dozen different varieties. All the kids and their parents enjoyed them very much. Until one of the parents found out she had moved next to us. She felt the need of 1 1/5 min of fame. Our attorney is dealing with our situation. We have no problem answering sensable questions regarding this. We will keep you posted. Linda & Bill

hey guys, there's a reason email and PM's were invented! ( so you don't create 3 pages of unrelated posts as a discussion between yourselves!)

I'd be interested to see if there are any facts behind the accusations that have been thrown around at the beginning of the thread.

One more person here who has done business with Tim and Jim of SWreptiles, and have been more than pleased with every time I've ever had anything to do with them.
