In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

James Stelpflug SW Wisconsin reptiles is a liar

Well -

I looked at the old thread that was linked here in a previous post.

In that thread the evil Mike Roe used an email address of: [email protected]

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showpost.php?p=117323&postcount=9

Coincidentally (and that is all I am saying it is at this point) there is a Mike Roe that works (or worked) at a tatto shop called Apocolypse Tattoo in Fort Dodge, IA (1210 Central Avenue (515) 573-7551. There ISP also happens (or happened) to be Frontiernet as they use (or used) the email address [email protected]. Oh and to add to the coincidence - this Mike Roe has a wife named Mandi.

http://tribalectic.com/archive/nov2001/magazinepage2.asp

It also looks like he wrote for the site that published the article as their is a contributor named "Damien".

For the record - I don not believe that the Mike Roe posting on this thread is the same person.

hey guys, there's a reason email and PM's were invented! ( so you don't create 3 pages of unrelated posts as a discussion between yourselves!)

I'd be interested to see if there are any facts behind the accusations that have been thrown around at the beginning of the thread.

One more person here who has done business with Tim and Jim of SWreptiles, and have been more than pleased with every time I've ever had anything to do with them.
Andrew Gilpin

Once Mike's identity/integrity was called into question it became a part of this thread.

Original from where? This is the first time I've seen this post.

I just wanted to add that Mike Roe has been a customer of mine (rodents)for awhile now. I can verify that he does live in Nora Springs, works as a lineman and does have the snakes he says he does. We talked quite extensively and never once did he bring up living Ft Dodge.

Starting to look like the OP is a one post wonder.

I would think if the raid upset them so much and they had proof of who instigated the raid they would be all over this thread. They posted alot more in the original thread before it was locked , guess they didn't have to answer any real questions in that one.

Still no respose from the start of this thread.
Why??
Start something like this and disapear.
Now do you see why their charicter is in question.
I've to this point not heard back from;
Wayne Buchholtz the DNR officer who was quoted about their charges

Kate Dean the neighbor who had filed the complaints.

I WILL DO MY BEST to inform you all what I find out from these people (if I can get a response) tommorow morning when I get back to work.

Thank you, I didn't realize there were other threads on this story at this site.

Well to be fair, THIS thread was only started yesterday. Most people don't have the time or the inclination to sit on a single thread all day long waiting to post updates. I'm sure they're busy people and we'll hear more as they have time to respond.

Are Linda Merfeld and Bill Shaffer being 100% truthful?
Linda & Bill are you two saying that you NEVER kept pythons, boas, or false water cobras at your residence in Dubuque? Remember the truth will come out if you are lying, as it inevitably does on this forum. While we are at it, do you deny keeping western hognoses and bull snakes, Iowa state protected animals, at your home in Dubuque. If you can not TRUTHFULLY answer these questions yes, I believe you OWE Jim a public apology here on this forum and any other place you have been spreading this nonsense. Be truthful and this whole stupid thing will end today. Continue the lies, and no one wins. Also what became of the two milk snakes you took from the wild in Wisconsin, and the Indigo that you did not have the permit for?

Here is the proof

Here is the letter Jim Stelpflug wrote to the City of Dubuque.

What breeder program??

Is that what Stelpflug told you? Why don't you check the court records in Lancaster, Wisconsin? What breeding loan? For your information, three times to court in Lancaster. Court records will indicate who won, who lost and who had to pay court costs. For a nominal fee you can obtain those records. It is your legal right. Check out the link to Jim's letter on this thread.

Linda, I'm sorry you had to go through this. Based on that letter, it would appear that you are correct that James did, for whatever reason, "sic" the authorities on you.

Perhaps the breeding loan situation was the cause?

Would you mind giving us the short version? Unfortunately, the court records are not available online, and Wisconsin is a little far for me to drive :)

Ok, you have shown proof that he turned you in.

What happened, you got 3 snakes back, but didn't you have 6 confiscated? What happened to the milksnakes and the indigo? Do they make you move your operation outside city limits?

I'm a little confused on a couple of points to this story. So please correct me if I’m wrong.

1. I'm not reading anywhere in the letter where he mentions venomous snakes - as you claimed - did I miss that or is one of the animals listed venomous?

2. The news articles state that they did in fact confiscate several animals that were illegal/protected - so you were keeping animals you shouldn't - is this correct?

3. The news articles state that there were snakes "all over the house" and as well as rodents. The articles also state that your neighbors complained on several occasions about the smell coming from your house and that you refused to let them (the paper) into the house to see your set up. In light of this couldn’t it be possible that Jim had a concern regarding the care and safety of the animals or is the only explanation for his letter about the breeding loan gone wrong?

I myself have had a neighbor (pissed off at my husband) call animal control about my snakes. As I have an immaculate collection and all appropriate permits in place the conversation lasted all of about 5 minutes including an inspection of my animals and records. I’m not entirely sure what the big deal is here – other than yeah perhaps Jim was being a bit of an idiot by sending the letter – or perhaps he had a legitimate concern.

I’m not going to pass judgment just yet – as there does seem to be at least two sides to this story. I’d like to hear both sides first.

Here's the story on Bill & Linda's law suit on Jim. About four years ago Bill bought some ball pythons from a different breeder. Bill could not get his baby female albino ball to feed. Jim told Bill to bring up the ball and he would get it to feed. The snake has always been a problem feeder. Jim raised Bill's snake along with more of Bill balls for over 4 years. Jim had finally got the albino up 1340 grams and bred it with a cinnamon male. Bill decided that he wanted all of his ball pythons back in the middle of the breeding season. Jim returned all of them except the albino ball because he thought she might be gravid and did not want to jeopardize the snake. Jim asked Bill what he would sell the albino for a couple of times, but Bill would not call him and tell him a price. He would only try to talk with him in the middle o9f shows when Jim was too busy to talk with him.

Bill finally decided to sue Jim for the snake. Jim should have gave the snake back to Bill earlier, but Bill and Linda had been on a smear campaign about Jim. Bill had been a good friend, and Jim helped get Bill started in the trade. Bill's betrayal really disappointed Jim, and caused him to handle this situation in not the best way.

When the case went to court, Bill would only accept $5000.00 for the snake Jim raised for Bill. Bill would not take the snake back. It went to court, and the judge tried to get the two to work out the problem. Bill refused. The judge ordered Jim to return the snake to Bill, which Jim tried to at the beginning of the court proceedings, and to pay court costs. The judge told Bill if the snake came back sick, too bad. It wouldn't be in worse condition than it was when he brought it to Jim.

That's the lawsuit. The judge ordered Jim to return the snake that day. Jim told them they could stop by and get it on the way home. Bill & Linda have to drive one block away on their way home. Bill did not want this, he wanted the snake delivered to his home in Dubuque of all places. You know the home where they don't keep restricted animals like ball pythons. The judge told Jim he shouldn't deliver the snake himself, so I took it to Bill at 11 am that day. He received the snake, and then Linda came on the porch holding a beer and yelled something about sticking something up someones a$$. Classy!

The $5000.00 judgement was vacated, which means Bill did not get it.

Jim had no problem with Bill owning a python, when he got it for a breeder loan, FOUR YEARS ago. Jim had no problem with Bill owning pythons in the four years since. Jim saw Bill at reptile shows LAST year, and said nothing about it to authorities.

Jim loses a lawsuit with Bill on Jan. 19, 2007, which says he must return Bill's python to Bill. Shortly afterward, Jim has an attack of "good, concerned citizen", and writes an embellished letter about Bill to animal control. If he was so worried about all this, why didn't he report it four years ago? It is quite obvious he was pissed, and did this to get even.

I am smelling rats, too, of the Wisconsin variety.
