    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

James Stelpflug SW Wisconsin reptiles is a liar

You have it all wrong Rocket, the lawsuit had nothing to do with the raid, most of the tim the balls were with Jim. Read the Bill and Linda thread, it helps explain the raid more. The raid was in motion before the lawsuit. Bill and Linda got mad at Jim for really stupid reasons and have been trying to ruin him for over a year.
 
The lawsuit was filed 10/31/06. What was the date Jim wrote that letter to animal control?
 
I don't know for sure, but it was the delivery of the fwc in Illinois back in August was the final straw for Jim,and when he decided he could put up with their nonsense any more. If someone was trying to take your living away from you, would you not fight back?

Jim, It looks like that fax was sent FROM a fax machine at the City Hall Annex at 4:21pm on Nov 13 2006. There is no date on the letter itself, so there's no way to tell when it was actually received by Animal Control from what was posted.

I agree, there is no way to say that is the date they received it. It just shows it was faxed on that day to somewhere else. :shrug01:
 
I would like to hear from Jim himself and more from Linda before I make a personal decision in my mind. For now, however, I am not thinking very good thoughts on either party.
Letting someone raise up your animal for four years and then just wanting it back after all the care and money came from the other person is not good just as what Jim wrote is not good either.

I believe you're right, Erin. Maybe Linda or Bill could enlighten us on that one.

Regardless of the exact date on that letter, the four year timeline of events indicates to me that this was clearly not a "concerned citizen."

Jim had business dealing with Bill all during that period, and even states he was in his home two and a half years ago. That is mentioned in the letter.

Only when things went sour did he become a "concerned citizen."
 
I just have a pet peeve about people who abuse the legal process to settle personal vendettas. I liken it to calling child protective services on your neighbor, because the two of you are feuding. Very distasteful (and also illegal).
 
I'd tend to agree Jim, I'm finding it difficult to think of James as "concerned citizen" as you put it.

As Rozann said, I'd really like to hear James' version from him directly.

I have a feeling this will increasingly become more and more of a mud slinging contest, with both parties coming out dirty.
 
We are getting away from the facts. In August of 2006 animal control visited Bill & Linda. Bill and Linda showed them 10 snakes and claimed they were the only ones. Bill delivered the false water cobra to Jim at the Du Page County show in August following Daytona.

The letter, which was written by the city attorney and signed by Jim states he witnessed ball pythons, rainbow boas, and red tails on their table at the Iowa Herp Society table. A fact easily pr oven by contacting any officer of the Iowa Herp Society.

November 26th, Jim witnessed Rainbows, red tails, and dums at their table at the DuPage County show. Over a thousand people were there that day, lots of people witnessed that.

Jim saw illegal animals at their home two years ago. That is a fact that is harder to prove, but probably will be proven in time. How is Jim a liar? Care to answer that Linda? The law suite over a poor mouse feeder ball python had nothing to due with the events. I am the one brought that all out in the open for everyone to see. The jeopardizing of Jim's livelyhood in AUGUST caused Jim to finally react to Bill & Linda"s nonsense. The whole truth is out there. Jim didn't initiate Dubuque's interest in Bill & Linda, but when THEY got ignorant, Jim finally agreed to cooperate with the city in their case,because of their actions.

Actually I thought we were staying right on target with this thread ABOUT Jim. What you just said is about the other party on the other thread that you started on them.
 
Well, at this point, I'll wait for Bill or Linda to respond to that.

My opinion of James Stepflug, and his mushbrain stooge is settled. Until Jim steps up personally, he is officially a jerk in my book. But you're right about the thread title. It probably should have been something more like, "James Stepflug: Cowardly, dishonest jerk with no ethics who can't even speak for himself on a public forum."
 
I would just like to say that there is not ever going to be a winner in the reptile business when we use the government at any level to settle our differences, regardless of the reason. When these stories hit the media and are sensationalized for the best ratings possible and the knee jerk reaction of the local, state or federal government involved in the situation will almost always be to look toward the banning or restrictions of all ownership of reptiles as an easy solution, none of us will win.

We are a very small group compared to others out there. We work with animals that many people completly ignorant of assume are horrible and therefore you and I should not be allowed to keep them. Turning against each other will only speed along our demise as a whole. The ban of reptiles should be the number one enemy of all herpers. There are plenty of people in this business who will never be friendly with each other for many reasons, but they all must realize that by having a common interest and supporting each other in this one battle, an enemy of your enemy is your ally.
 
Funny how Tim is here answering for Jim ... Why is that Tim and why should anyone believe your second or third hand info???

Not saying the other parties involved are right or wrong just don't much care for people talking for their friends when their friends AKA Jim should be posting for themselves... Randy
 
I don't know either party but if what HerpOly said is true, then it would seem that William and Linda are pretty scummy for trying to screw James on the breeding loan and then trying to sue him for five grand instead of getting the snake back (which shows it is all about money and not the snake) and then trying to ruin his reputation by bad mouthing him. Their post said that he turned on them for no reason but it sure seems like he had plenty of reasons to me. Turning someone in to the city isn't the nicest thing to do but it isn't no where near what they did and besides, the article said that several others had already turned them in over the summer so whatever he said in the winter was probably not even necessary for an investigation.
