In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Kingsnake NEEDS THEIR HEAD EXAMINED!!!!

I love that "rich red color" and the thing that puts your new red morph over the top for me is the purple stripes!!!! :p

I was over showing my wife the remaining post on KS and was reading Garrick's comment and when I refreshed - POOF - gone!

I am speechless.

That is true (about being too crowded)...but I have a question for you... When you got started in Leopard Geckos....did you know everything already? I am sure you did get a lot of help from the forums. I did, and everyone did.

What would have happened if the "not-newbies" by then said: "...the same questions again and again..." probabbly we wouldnt know as much as we do right now.

The repetitive questions aren't the worst of it, though.

The worst thing about that board (and why I don't go there anymore) are the people that know absolutely nothing, yet after reading that board and buying a gecko think they're experts after a couple weeks.

Those are the worst!

or even better...

the people who know nothing about leo's asking how to breed them. Oh great, they don't know the basics about keeping 1 or 2, now they want to breed & create more geckos they won't know how to take care of. I hate reading questions about sick geckos from someone & later they post pics of "new geckos" they just bought! I have geckos that I first started with over 9 years ago, I don't breed any gecko over 4 years old, but they are just great little pets! Just pisses me off.....

So true Terry... it's very unfortunate that KS is going that direction... :( I believe I saw the same post that you were looking at. I read it one second, then the next, nothing.

PS - For those of us that were asking about why Garricks posts were being deleted (for that matter, anything that involves Garricks posts) don't be surprised if you find yourself no longer able to post over at KS... (ah shucks).

I just tried, and it was a no go.... Bummer deal man.... :) Oh well, I sent them a very nice little email telling them exactly what I think of them. It wasn't a rude or uncalled for email, BUT it is one that had to be sent... Who knows, maybe they'll reply and we'll get some answers as to what they're thinking.

Just to let you all know.

IF their lawsuit against the founder of this site wasn't ridiculous enough, now they have gone to selective CENSORSHIP! Its really ridiculous and deserves all of the herp communities attention. Recently an accomplished leopard gecko breeder produced a couple of animals that were EXTREMELY RARE. He posted them for the benefit of his fellow enthusiasts. The result . His posts were DELETED by the vary CORPORATION that hosts his site not to mention runs his classified ads consistently. AT HIS COST MIND YOU!!!!!! Not only is this Biased Bad business practices its down right unethical! Think about it. Being a logical thinking person I can only conclude that one of two things caused this. Either Garrick so threatened a really close partner or business associate of Kingsnake.com by his new Morphs or they themselves have a underlying interest in the leopard gecko market somehow. I can't figure it out. I think everyone should demand Kingsnake answer for their actions!!! All in Favor Say I !!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah and another thing. The Guy running this site deserves our respect and Support! He doesn't let success go to his HEAD!!!

So essentially you are saying it is ok for *some* people to break the rules while everyone else has to toe the line? People cry because they assume the rules are not fairly applied over there when in fact they do tend to be fair all things considered. It's usually when someone with a well known name who gets taken to task for breaking the rules that everyone starts crying foul and want special exceptions or exemptions from the rules.

Who cares if someone is a sponsor on the forum. Who cares if someone has a classified account. Who cares is someone has purchased banner ads. If someone has paid for advertising on that site then perhaps they need to put their advertising where it properly BELONGS. How much more in the face does one have to be shown...advertising on the regular forums is not allowed. Sure garrick was sharing some really outstanding photos but face it his post was also a blatant advertisement. I saw the post shortly after it was made and he certainly broke the rules by directly promoting his website unsolicited (instead of a permissible link in the signature line) and he directly solicited offers from the other people on the forum. With as much trouble and childish fighting as regularly occurs on the leo forum I would say it is possible that no one reported that post but rather a moderator passing through caught it all on their own.

If you all are going to start a ruckus over something like this you should at least get some of your facts straight before crying wolf rather than making things up or making assumptions.

Maybe Garrick's original post should

have been deleted due to violating the TOS. What is the possible excuse for deleting all of the other posts? Like other people have said...on other forums the same thing is happening, but those posts aren't being deleted. No one is losing any sleep (or even crying I am sure!) over this, gives us something to talk about. After all is said & done kingsnake has pissed off a lot of people who do a LOT of business on their site. Not good for business when there are other sites (faunaclassifieds etc...) just a mouse click away!

Okay,

Then how do you explain all of the ball python breeders showing off there pics and then they have a direct link to there website in the same post????

Some of them don't even pay for advertisment.........

Per that document:

If you have had your ability to log in, post, or upload on/to the site rescinded, or had posts or images removed, or had your access to chat rooms blocked, you may contact the site coordinator of the appropriate site and appeal the action. Any public discussion of actions against a user's account will be removed, and we will not discuss any action against a user's account with anyone but the individual themselves.

Seems straight forward. If someone got in trouble and if that person really wants an answer about it then they have to be the one to open up discussion privately with the kingsnake staff - people should not go demanding answers on the forum from the moderators or otherwise discuss it in public on the forums there. They tell you up front that public discussion of such matters get yanked.

It has been proven many times over that the moderators there do not tolerate very well people causing what amounts to trouble on their forums by whining or complaining about other people's posts being pulled. It's disruptive to say the least and that is a violation of their tos. I've seen people who deliberately pushed too hard or took the disruption to the extreme and lost their account for it. I've seen forums literally shut down for hours in the attempt to stop such disruptive people.

Some of the people who "do a lot of business" there likely wouldn't have so much trouble if they would follow the rules they agreed to when they signed up to use the site.

I'm not in anyway implying garrick is like this or even encourages this, but I do see at times on some forums folks who play into the whole hero worshipping defensive behavior because "it's a big name breeder" or "well known personality" whose presence they bask under and such "names" must be defended at nearly any cost. They aren't anymore special than anyone else on that site; a lot more accomplished at something in particular maybe but certainly no more special. They are no more paying to use the regular forums than anyone else therefore they are not entitled to anything special like free advertising on those forums. I and many others do believe that if someone pays for advertising then they just have to keep their advertising in the appropriate areas of that site.

To look at the situation from a different angle - people too cheap to shell out for a classified account piss a lot of people off by trying to sneak their ads into the regular forums. I think it is fairly safe to say that you can be damn sure those who do pay to advertise on various areas of the site or sponsor forums complain pretty loud to the kingsnake staff about those tos abusers and rightly so. But to have people at large insist that the moderators need to apply the rules fairly to everyone and then turn around and complain when they do apply the rules fairly but it just happens to be the person's ad getting pulled is a "name" and demand special considerations for them is hypocritical. Everyone needs to play on the same level playing field and it looks to me like that is what the moderators do attempt to do. No need for anyone to bash them over it.

If the people I talk to are correct, there are not that many moderators on kingsnake (a handful at best) and as large as that site is how can anyone expect them to be everywhere? If people are too lazy or simply don't want to bother reporting blatent abuses on the site to them then you can't expect them [the moderators] to always know about those violation now can you? The abuse links are provided for a reason - real easy to use too: right there on every message on the forums for you to click on.

Per the document:

All posts that basically say "Look at my website" or "Look at this website" will be removed. In addition, if a user has a pattern of responding to messages with directions to a particular website or domain that begins to look like an attempt to thwart this rule, the overall pattern will be taken into consideration when determining if it is advertising/promotion or not. We do allow our users to post the URLs of websites, as long as it's part of a contribution to the overall discussion, but not simply as a method of promotion of the website, on their own behalf or on behalf of someone else.

You may include a link to your website in your signature, even if it is a commercial website. You may also include a small logo image for your business as part of your signature. However, you may not include specific items for sale, prices, advertising slogans, or any other text or images that would be considered commercial.

Pretty much what I see on that forum falls within the guidelines as acceptable (based on my own interpretation), though I would say some "names" there do seem to ignore or have some weird ideas on how to define what a "small logo" should be. Often when I see messages that do not fall within the guidelines more often than not they do tend to disappear. If after a day or so those messages are still there assuming I happen to remember to look back to see them there and I was in the mood for it I would report them. Like I said in a previous message - if you got a problem with a post for being abusive then why not report it? It's too damn easy for someone to click on a link right there in front of them. Just click the link and click send - you don't even have to bother filling out any information there since the url to the post is automatically inserted. Let the moderators decide what violation may or may not be in that reported message. I don't even bother putting in my email address when I file reports....just click and click.

I can tell you for a fact that the above quote from ks is not true. I contacted just about everyone at ks when FaunaClassifieds and my other domain names got banned, and my login account deleted and NOT A SINGLE SOUL would discuss with me why that happened. The best I could get was for them to say that it was a "business decision" by the owner, and of course my emails to him went unanswered.

Hey Adrian...

maybe you can explain why one (actually several) posts I made about the AAA reptile photos (the infamous "blue blizzards") were deleted. I think I already know...I mentioned to the person who started the thread that they should check the FAUNA BOI before making a purchase. I don't see that as a violation of the kingsnake TOS. But, you seem to know the TOS so well, can you cut/paste that part here for me. I haven't complained about the deletion of Garrick's post, if he violated the TOS, it should have been deleted. I do have a problem with the SELECTIVENESS with which some posts are being deleted & some are not.

Ok...so it sounds like garrick posted his web site! Ok so! why dosen't he re-post the pic's with out the web site? There should be no problem! If K.S. deletes it than obviously somethings up?...right?
So even I could go to Garricks site copy and paste those same pic's on K.S. and say......HEY LOOK WHAT I FOUND !!! A new blazing Blizzard Gecko....HMMMMM everyone you should check it out!
Maybe I will......HMMMMMMM

Yeps, his posts were deleted... Then any and all posts referring to why his posts were deleted as well. Come to think of it, anything referring to Garrick was deleted actually...

Then.... a bunch of us got banned from KS. Oh well, this place is better anyway... hehe.

Wraith jumped all over me when I posted a vent about a KS issue here too...It seems to be his "thing."

I understand that most people have a real and basic need to vent frustrations in like company. Some have a higher degree of need more than others. (That's why I vented here once...I had a need to share the experience with like company.)

I have more "issues" with people being intollerant of other people's needs than I do with reading complaints about other people's sites or problems. While it's a little on the ugly side to be complaining, it's beyond rude to disrespect a basic human need. This place should be a network of support and it really bothers me when a person cannot be nice to those that have a need.

It looks like Robin's post has stirred things up. People are giving their opinions right and left. It will probably be deleted so if you want to see it, you had better get over there now.

Oh goodness! This is a great post!!!

I have been watching this site fall, in particular this forum. I am sure you have noticed as well the decreased amount of traffic and ther quality of the forums. This site is made of members, without us, your nothing, so please remember that. I don't see why you don't want to work with us, instead you choose to work against us, does that make any sense? Luckily we found someone that has OUR interests in hand as well as THEIRS, and you knwo that website. We are able to work to a common goal over there, something you seem to have forgotten over here, why? I know Jeff's passion in reptiles has gone down hill, and his interests in tropical fish (particularly marine) has grown. Luckily, I am very well represented and known within the tropical fish community. I'm also known for my intense interest in reptiles. Word gets around fast on how you treat people. Why can't you guess just turn around your actions and help your memebers instead of work against them? I really would like to see you respond to this message publically. I would like to know your views on this subject, I really would.

OMG, it's getting out of hand over there

Don't even click on the post titled 'a pic for all the mods...' on the other forums.

You're a better person if you don't look at that crap.
