If you're signed in as Dr. Owens, you're a mod.
Do like rich and make up another non-mod moniker if you wish to be known as anything other than a mod.
I think you are a little mixed up about this, Wes. In both of my logins I am still the admin of this site. Which also implies moderation duties as well. And yes, I have done that no matter which hat I am wearing.
The reason for the two logins is because I try to isolate issues having to deal specifically with and about this site as being addressed as WebSlave, and everything else as Rich Z. In no instance have I ever stated, nor felt, that I could not act as a moderator while logged in as Rich Z. Matter of fact, no matter who I would be logged in, I would have no compunction whatsoever for issuing warning points if I saw the necessity for doing so.
I just tend to prefer posting replies as WebSlave when it is of an issue concerning the mechanics or management of this site, but I don't look upon it as a requirement to do so. But warning points and/or moderation will take place regardless of my login.
So your point is moot about Jay. Even if he created another logon account, I would fully expect him to act in a moderator's position regardless of the logon name he would be wearing at that time. It is completely up to him in HOW he chooses to act at any given time. There were no boundaries placed on when anyone COULD, much less HAD TO act as a moderator while here.
One request I make of the mods is that they do not use their powers as mods to unfairly stack the cards in their favor in discussions of topics outside of their actual jobs as moderators. In other words, in a discussion about ball python genetics, I would not appreciate a mod censoring through editing, deleting, or warning points, someone who was having a contrary opinion to theirs. This certainly does NOT apply to a mod being addressed AS a mod and fielding comments of a derogatory or abusive nature. In such cases, they can take the gloves off whenever they choose in order to deal with the situation. So yes, if you are being blatantly antagonistic towards a mod for acting in the role of a mod or because they ARE a mod, then they have my blessing to issue YOU warning points for that antagonism. Although some prefer to allow another mod to take up that role, it is not a requirement from me that they do it that way. And quite honestly, I am not going to engage in splitting hairs with them very much as to what constitutes "antagonism".
So if you decide you want to take pokes at someone able to issue you warning points, I will just assume you are intent on getting what you are asking for.
