Erik,
Maybe these were considered by you, possibly discussed with Wendy, etc., but I see no mention of such in this thread. For future reference, here is what I do to address conflicts in choice of shippers.
1) As mentioned earlier, my local DHL is poor. When a customer insists on it, I take the package to an authorized DHL pick-up store. Easy to find on-line. I put the pre-paid label on it, and it costs me nothing except the effort to get it to the store.
2) Where UPS delivery is a problem on the receivers end, whether because the client is "far out", or the UPS driver careless, or in cases such as summer deliveries to Vegas, Phoenix, etc, where time-on-truck is so deadly, I just ship to the nearest UPS Service Center as a "Hold for Pickup". Its probably the safest thing for the animals. Works like a charm, and easy.
As they say, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

. Now that I am back in my chair ....... I can agree with all except the character attacks that litter so many posts here. I would like to once again point out that the "thread" that Erik needs to ignore was a "discomfort" of his own creation.
