In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Evan Stahl

I have even told Evan I understand that the reversal of the charge back will take awhile to go through and I have stated I don't expect he to act on it until it is completely processed. I can post the chargebacks via pay pals website they changed them to Special reason when they closed the case.

Given this, Joeseph, isn't this thread a bit premature? Also, did you know you were going to be out of town for 7 weeks (?) before you ordered the snake?

Joeseph it seems to me you ordered these snakes and when you could not get them right away you helped yourself to a refund. In my opinion you screwed poor Evan, he has to deal with all this, a looming BBB you have threatened, a Bad Guy which I do not believe is valid. You can't be the name he called you because you have big brass ones for jerking him around this way.

At least other vendors can be forewarned about what might happen if they do business with you.

More lies. He says this now:

"I have even told Evan I understand that the reversal of the charge back will take awhile to go through and I have stated I don't expect he to act on it until it is completely processed."

But he sent me this today:

I told Joseph, nicely several times, then not so nicely several times, I DO NOT HAVE ONE SINGLE CENT OF HIS MONEY. his bank took it from paypal and then paypal took it from me. As recent as 12-31 Paypal notifed me that he had all the monies refunded to him and that I was not going to be paid and that I was not protected by seller protection because his bank reversed the charges due to fraud.

AND Joseph Ramey, you owe me $20 for fee your bank charged me for the reversal which is seen clearly on my post where it shows the 140 going back to you +20 extra they charged as a fee for the chargeback DUE TO FRAUD. Send me my $20 or I will call your bank and freeze your accounts while they dispute the fee with me.

and here is proof that they are done, notice paypal as of RIGHT NOW has these cases filed under CLOSED

If it was a fraud case and you(Evan) were a merchant and a "stolen" credit card was used at your business why the heck would you be charged a fee of $20? You did not "fraudulently" use his credit card. Technically if you took a stolen credit card YOU are also a victim!!! This is absolute BS. Evan contact paypal. They are not debt collectors for a bank, they cannot charge you a "fee" to my knowledge. I can see the, collecting or reversing the payment but to my knowledge they cannot take additional money from you. I know when I had my issue with Tim King(which was found in my favor), Paypal put the money back in my account as a courtesy until the credit card company finished their investigation since I had been there since the beginning with them and Evan you have been doing this just as long so I am sure you are considered a valued customer. Call them that is ridiculous.

Hey Vic, his bank charged me a fee for the chargeback and paypal passed that along to me. Be assured I will be yelling for an hour at a paypal supervisor on Monday for cheating me above and beyond.

WOW That is ridiculous, Oh wait it was an error? I hope you can get through to them they cancel the $20 and apply it as a negative from his account as you have plenty of proof from this thread alone which shows he authorized you to run the card. Should be quite easy to have that go away, and move forward from this bad transaction. It is unfortunate since it seems you are already out money on the lost spiders. I sure hope he did not intentionally kill those animals. What did the smell smell like? In the long run outside of it costing you $$ it's apparent its best the deal didn't go thru. Not sure what kind of headaches he would had caused if the deal went thru. Good luck Evan!

Vic, he paid through paypal, how could I have ever charged anything to his card without his permission. He had to go to the website and send it to me.

he contacted his bank and had the charges reversed by telling them it was fraud and theft, because the bank took the money from paypal, paypal then took the money from me and the bank took an extra $20 from me.

Joseph, what exactly do you want the outcome of this mess to be? Evan doesn't owe you money, and you have shown to everyone that, if they sell to you, you could leave town at a moment's notice. Or, heaven forbid, a mistake is that is no fault of the seller, you will attack with full force before it can be properly corrected. So, by posting this, you hope to accomplish---what?

Again, did you contact his bank and did they tell you he told them it was 'fraud and theft"? I understand that's what the bank told Paypal, but his forms that he posted don't show that. You're making some severe accusations, I'm just looking to see where you got your information of his communications with his bank, other than 3rd hand through Paypal.

Other than that, this sounds like he screwed up ordering at a time when he wasn't going to be home. I think he thinks you handled the situation in an 'unfriendly' manner (my emphasis, not an actual quote), I'd say he had some very unrealistic expectations, and should probably do purchasing only in person in the future.

Yeah, he does that. This Thread shows a startlingly similar situation. Almost eerily alike, they are. Good luck getting any useful answers out of the guy. He's very selective about what he chooses to notice. Probably best not to waste time asking him to concretely back up anything he says. I have to suspect that the didn't have the foresight to record an unboxing video of his "dead" tarantulas. He likes to throw out his own generally baseless claims; while whining up a storm about the injustice of a forum that allows everyone else to have their say, too. Funny, ain't it?

Well, that's one way of looking at it. Odd how such "unreasonable" people seem to keep finding him, though, isn't it? Seems to be a bit of a recurring
pattern with Stahl. He drops the ball, hides behind his arbitrary shipping criteria, and subsequently refuses any refunds. Based on what the BOI shows of how he chooses to address such situations, I'm not yet seeing anything that makes the OP look particularly bad.

Since much of this apparently happened over the phone, who's to say that Stahl didn't tell him that he'd definitely have the second order shipped by a certain date? Either way, I'm not sure that the OP's expectations were particularly unrealistic. When he got the first box, I'm sure he was expecting it to be filled with the correct order; which turned out not to be the case. If he was given reason to believe that he'd have his order by a certain date, and was let down yet again, while subsequently being refused a refund; I don't think a chargeback is unreasonable.

I'm sure there's going to be some degree of the obligatory dissent over what constitutes completing a transaction in a "timely" manner; and there will be some who'll choose to see the buyer as having jumped the gun. I disagree with them. I see it simply as two people not being able to operate within each other's time tables. As such, the most sensible thing to do would be simply give a refund and put the snake back up for sale. It's very simple and would surely lead to much less strife and ill-will. Unfortunately, Stahl has shown on several occasions that he's simply unwilling/unable to be rational. He just seems to get off on the idea that he's in the position of having the power to dictate terms. I see this situation as yet another prime example of that fact. When people are bullied and pushed into a corner, sometimes they finally come out swinging. Hence, the chargebacks.

I don't think we're anywhere near "Poor Evan." Not even close. The idea of an absolutely uncompromising personality can seem great on paper, I just don't think there's any place for it. Not here in the real world. Who really wants to deal with someone who's incapable of seeing any point other than his own?
