In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hi. Since we're all giving opinions and whatnot... I'll join.
Maybe because I'm one of the younger fans out there, but this issue has found me to be a bit indifferent. I'm understanding that Garrick's 'discovery' is monumental, but he did ask for price, which from my understanding is against TOS.
Should the post have been deleted... I don't think so. I think he was trying to get a feel for market price and desirablity. I think they (the moderators) and make one small exception for such a find, or atleast edit his post.
Is this thing getting out of hand? I dont know. I'm in a pretty hard world history class, and we've studied revolutions alot. I guess you can say this is the typical one, but once we win,--or loose-- then what happens? Do we have a utopia waiting somewhere for us at kingsnake?
Some people are getting more radical then others--and some downright disgustingly abusive. It is a shame and a huge loss that KS is revoking the membership of some very knowledgeable people for voicing their opinions on a constroversial subject. Who ever is kingsnakesucks or whatever, I'm absolutely shocked. I have no clue if its one of us--or some random person jumping on the bandwagon, but its things like that, that ruin the whole efforts to right a wrong.
Rob I know is trying to restore peace and order over at KS, and I support him in that sence. I started off at kingsnake, asking those dumb questions-- so I feel a sence of 'home' there. This whole thing obviously took a wrong turn somewhere and with the slow decline of KS, I think this is the straw the broke the camel's back. I don't know if Garrick is in on all this commotion, but wouldn't you think he would be the most vocal if it upset him?
Its weird-because its only a website, but its causing so much uprising. I dont really know where to go from here, but the next few weeks should be interesting ones nonetheless.
Do what you think is right, and all I can say is that I hope KS gets 'fixed' for all the inexpiriances beginning leopard fans, who no longer have a place to call home and make the best life for thier reptilian friends.

Well, I sent a whole long email about it to the Kingsnake.com Site Coordinator, suggesting that they give the community members what they want - an explanation - and re-explaining the TOS rules.
I'm still sick from the pics, by the way.

holy cow...
I went to bed & woke up to a mess over there on KS too. What in the world was all that? I am not sure why Jef would ban some of his highest profile advertisers, seems to me to be a HUGE mistake. I also think it was a huge mistake to post those pics for the mods....man, totally not decent, too many kids over there! I am still awaiting approval on my 1 month "trial" on KS. I'll be interested to know if my posts have caused me to not get approved, eventhough the only thing I posted was the Faunaclassified.com BOI & the stuff I have posted here! None of that is against the TOS! I don't know that I'll be too dissappointed if I'm not "approved".

It would seem that one does not actually have to violate the TOS over there to get banned, as evidenced by Rich's case, in addition to the cases of the folks who were banned simply for expressing their opinions on this site. I can understand and appreciate the need to moderate your own forums, but banning people for things that take place on other sites is the heavy handed tactic of egomaniacal post-nazis.
Also, as evidenced by Rich's case, they won't necessarily discuss their rationale for banning someone with that person.

What is sad is that you do not even know WHY they deleted garricks thread, I DO. They deleted his thread because he ADVERTISED, it would be HIPOCRITICAL if they didn't delte his thread.

i read the Garrick post, he did not advertise. he gave a link to his site for more pics, and he stated that he would be taking bids on them. Its not like that wouldnt have come up in the thread anyway, you know if he wouldnt have put that in the thread there would have been a dozen replies asking about availability and pricing. this way he saved everyone asking and just answered the question.
And since he is a forum sponsor, i think he has paid for the right to post what he did. As for being hypocritical, as i stated before, he has PAID for that right.
and as for the nasty pics on there.. i wonder if they are planning on keeping them up there all day.. Cant you tell that they have great mods over there, leaving disturbing stuff up there for all to see..there really on top of things...

He still advertised, and no matter who you are you can't advertise on the forums. He said he was taking bids, which is advertising. Those pics are STILL up there, why wont' they just delete them. Also, do you know who was banned?
Garrick did not advertise!!! There was no reason to delete his post. He said that he was taking offers to get a feel for the market and to check out his site for more pics. The same thing happens in the bp forum almost daily when larger breeders post pics of their morphs. It is ridiculous!!

Gross, disgusting pictures. Dusty unfortunetly perked my curiosity and I saw the first, and then she saw the other 3. Pretty much, it was porn, naked people, really nasty. Alot of posts were along the lines of, F__K you KS, and some were people warning other people not to look at the dirty nasty pictures (If only I hadn't gotten online and Dusty hadn't told me! Bah!) and then some posts were people just complaining about everything. Man it was one crazy morning!

First of all, since you don't know what violations have been committed, you can't judge what was and wasn't similar that have been left up.
Since there is another forum that believes in free speech, and the "banned" and "deleted" have posted what they know, YES we do know the reasons.
I moderate a large listserv and have done so for the past 6 years. Never have I seen such a one-sided, biased, moderation in any discussion forum.
You state:
We have a privacy policy and are bound by federal law to abide by it.
I think the constitution is in line with federal law:
Bill of Rights
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
I would gather that moderators choosing what to censor based on their interpretation of the TOS is in violation of forum users right to freedom of speech.
Most of the KS staff are volunteers and they have lives. We can't be here 24/7 to monitor for idiots.

One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate.
If that is the case you should not be moderators. It is your job to moderate the list which means you need to make sure the content is within guidelines 24/7.
If you are the Staff Director I think you need to seriously take a good look at the way this forum is moderated.
