Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Witblits dragons - true patternless beardies

Josh and the rest

This is truly exciting! I was hoping that the Witblits and Silverbacks are the same mutation. This would have been good for the patternless gene pool.

I believe that this is the first conclusive evidence that they are different genotypic morphs. Good work! I will email you more in detail.

This now opens new doors and lots of possibilities! Firstly I think it is important for everyone to know that there is a difference between the two, thus we should also talk in a way that differentiates between them. Ie saying "Japanese silverbacks" and " Witblits patternless". Just mentioning patternless might create confusion in the near future...

Josh, keep up the good work on that side of the Atlantic. Over here in South Africa our dragons are sleeping and hopefully we will produce a few strong Witblits and to get some size into the Witblits patternless line we will breed a few OGG Witblits patternless hets (our OGG female is over 600 grams). I will leave the breeding of 'fancy' patternless morphs (like the leathersilvers Witblitys translucents etc) up to you and the Germans as I have no acces to those type of morphs. We will focus on size and colour this season.

Hi Jaques,

There is still so much more we need to learn about the two morphs. I got very little info about the silverbacks, and the witblits still need to be bred full circle. We still need to find out if witblits can be made into solid colors, and if the genetic can mask over other mutations like silverback.

Silverbacks don't hatch patternless/white like the witblits. It's a color that seems to blanket over them once they reach a certain size. Almost like they have been dipped in a silvery paint.

Any day now, I should hatch some witblits, and have some more clutches incubating. I have also been breeding the "het" witblits to different dragons this year.

Glad to hear your breedings are doing well.

Josh

Josh

Yeah these are exciting times (I say this with tears in my eyes as I have lost one of my beautiful females, Malibu. A huge loss for us).

Back to the positives...

I am sure that with time we will be able to make the Witblits colourful. South Africa is known as the Rainbow nation. Perhaps this also holds true for Witblits... My problem is that I don't have great colours to work with. I have an orange german giant female. She is pale compared to the orange dragons found in US and Europe! The same with my yellow male. You can't even compare him to the citrus dragons avialable in the US.

I would give my left tttt... toe... to get my hands on some of the dragons you okes have. It is just impossible to import!

One of my future projects was to breed solid red Witblits but it will not happen. I will leave the colour projects in the hands of people like you. My focus will turn to producing pure white Witblits and 'gold' Witblits.

I am sure that with all the effort you put in that you will produce some nice Witblits in the near future. Then again, a 'normal' hatchling Witblits truly is amazing. You will see that pretty soon when you hatch your first Witblits...

Goodluck and keep us posted.

Cheers

I didn't produce any out of the first clutch. My eggs keep dying off. Only hatched 3 total. Two normal leathers and a silk. The second clutch of eggs completely died off. Got another clutch that is due to hatch any day now, that so far looks good. About 15 eggs total(about 6 died off). I will post up my results if I can get them to hatch:)

Here is a pic of one of the babies from the Witblits. All of them that I held back have this yellow color.

These are some very nice dragons congrats on the patternless morph, but i would stray away from calling BLITS a WHITE dragon cause after adjusting the exposure on the photo,he's nowhwere near WHITE, he's actually orange just super overexposed from what I could tell.Good luck with the new morphs.

Hi InterhactiveGecko, Josh and the rest

Yes you are right that most of the Witblits are not white. That is not what makes them special. If you want a white dragon then there are some nice mark. leucistics available. What makes Witblits very special indeed is their true abscence of pattern! As Josh have said, even their bellies lack the black ovoid rings. Their shoulder pads and sub orbital stripe is also absent. This will almost always be prersent in leucistics. These dragons dont lack melanin though. They have the ability to go very black under the chin!

Blits (our one male Witblits dragon) was pure white when he hatched. He is about two years old now and most of the time he is a silver-grey colour. When he is out basking in the warm South African sun he turns white, but not as white as when he was a few days old. We have only hatced two of these very white Witblits. My plan is to create a pure white line from him.

As mentioned, most seem to be a yellow colour, but this morph has great potential in the colour range. I have a fairly orange Witblits male that I bred with a Orange german giant. Very excited to see what the babies look like.

Unfortunately my Golden girl (Bacardi, she was truly a gold colour) died a few weeks ago in a sort of freak accident! Very bleak about it! Had big plans with her.

Josh keep us posted on you findings please. I will mate a Witblits male to female later this season to see what pops out. Exciting times!

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your gold female Jacques.Good luck on those solid white patternless and if you do succeed please be sure to post them on here as i would def. enojy seeing them and maybe even purchase one if you would ship to America. Cheers

Hi. We sell the Witblits (patternless) for between 3500 and 4000$. For more details rather check out our Facebook page. Not sure what they go for in Europe. This is the only other place that you will find Witblits (although the original stock is from ours). Goodbye

Haha. Yeah that was a long time ago. Back then the price was a 'hot topic'. The price would always take over the topic. I think people have now come to accept that rare morphs easily reach these sort of prices. Still don't want to make the purpose of this thread a price discussion but rather keep it about the morph. For updated prices see the website or Facebook page.

Wiblets;
You might want to try and breed with a marked leucistic, Snow or polar and then breed the babies, to your other white wiblet and so on. That might help in the genetics to get out the white color

Personally, I'm more interested in seeing how much color they can take on. But I'm sure lots of people also want the white version.

Is anyone breeding these guys in the states yet? Or anywhere other than the original source?

Draco11 - I would like to, but we dont have snow, hypo, polar or any other descent 'white type' morphs in South Africa. perhapos the whitest normal dragons in SA were ones we produced, ie our 'white line'. We stopped this project due to the fact that the Witblits came from this line and thought that futher selecting for white would also bring out other unwanted genetic abnormalities.

We are focussing on getting 1)size and 2) colour into the Witblits

jmp745 - Red! This is my current project. It will be many years for me to produce pure red patternless dragons with pitch black eyes. My guess is it would happen in USA before I actualy achieve it. Merely due to the variety of morphs over there.

I get asked alot if this morph is able 'to hold colour'. It does! Look at A5, he is one of the reddest ones we have sold far. I have another wich will be much redder but he is for keeps.

There should be some Witblits hatching in Europe this year that might be up for sale. Last year the breeder sold a pair of hets for 4000euros! The market in Europe is huge!

I know Deagons den and Fire and Ice have white dragons.
I have a very white citrus hypo that is patternless when warm, aslo have a young leucistic x leucistic Fem. Plan on breeding them when she's ready. but by then a pure white Wiblet might already have been born. lol
Hard to keep up sometimes in this fast moving hobby
